My husband got an email from Travelzoo yesterday advertising a 7 night Jordan Discovery Tour for £599 through The Holiday Place. He immediately rang The Holiday Place and they confirmed that these tours, using easyjet charter flights had only just been released. They emailed my husband at 15:00 to quote £599 per person for a 24 November departure. Naturally my husband wanted to discuss it with me before booking but by the time I got home it was too late to ring and confirm. At 9:00 this morning we rang to book and were told that the price had gone up to £649 per person and this was down to easyjet putting their prices up. We weren't too happy and wanted to discuss this with the person who quoted £599 yesterday, but he wasn't in until 12:00. When we called at 12:00 he said the price had now gone up to £699 per person, an increase of 17% in less than 21 hours. The Travelzoo site is still saying £599. This seems like sharp practice to me, akin to the pressure selling techniques used by dodgy companies. It also doesn't seem to square with the chartered flight or package holiday description. I'm sure that if you book a holiday it would probably be fine but I'm not impressed by their sales techniques and won't use them again.
