“Poor Hotel Purgatory - Individuals Ignored”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 31/07/2013

Basically the hotel was only apparently focused accommodating large groups/ coach parties [perhaps from Cruise liners?] so in reality individuals were largely ignored/ sidelined too. My individual request for a quiet room with a bathtub was apparently lost [aka "ignored"] by the full/ overbooked[?] hotel...

Despite clearly requesting a quiet room with a bathtub, I got one with a small cubical with a shower [not really reflected in all the glossy picture advertising]. This was one of the ~20% of rooms which faced the main road, also near a main tram line junction with a sharp curve. Thus the traffic rumbling and trams squealing around this corner went on from ~-05-00 until nearly midnight. After arriving late I was told this was the only room available, as the hotel was full [of groups] that night….

Next morning the Breakfast area was an unsightly shambles as the detritus from a large group/ coach party [or dozens of individual?] had not been cleared in any way. Therefore it was difficult to find a clean/ clear table, even before you tried to find any food.. Yes, there was the odd staff member trying to clear this up this mess, but they only had tiny hand trays to attack all the detritus….

When I came back in the afternoon [disrupting my days activities] to try to change room I was faced with a reception area/desk about six deep with another large group/ party attempting to check in.

At this point I just left and went to another [better focussed for an individual] hotel….at my own expense naturally...

Basically a ruined [and somewhat expensive] stay in Tallinn, which from this experience just seems to be a costly trap for the unwary [individual] tourist… something which the print off brochure doesn't mention...

One also wonders if LateRooms is being used by this hotel to dispose/sell off odd rooms which would otherwise remain unsold on the open market…?

So we can investigate this further could you let us know the booking reference number? Then we can see what we can do. Otherwise thanks a lot for your feedback and for taking time to leave a review (James)

Hello,

FYI Booking Reference 23173231R [I can't find anywhere of the LateRoms site to inform you of this….

NB it’s not easy to feedback comments directly to LateRooms via it’s fairly user unfriendly site [as no contact e-mail given] …plus why waste more money on phone call…?
