1st experience, can only speak as I find. Rome - City Break.

I can only speak as I found it, and our experience was very good.
This was the first time we'd ever flown (and no, I'm not an excitable teenager!)We were looking for a city break in Rome. Jet2 offered a break at a reasonable price in a hotel we liked the look of, flying out of Manchester, so we booked. The process online was simple enough. Just take your time and read everything twice. 22kg checked baggage is very generous.

I phoned the following day to check it was OK for hubby to take his crutches on the plane and the young lad I spoke with was lovely and helpful. We checked in online the week before the holiday, no problem there.

Check in took about 20 mins queue time. Left extra time to go through security at Manchester because of heightened checks, but we sailed through, being ambulatory disabled they put us through a quicker line :) Went and had tea & toast while we waited for the gate to open at 6:15am. We were allowed to board the aircraft first so hubby could get seated without holding anyone else up. All the staff were smart, smiling and pleasant. The aircraft (a Boeing 737-800) was clean with surprisingly good legroom. The flight went fine. We didn't purchase any food or extras but lots were offered. We arranged our own transfer out of choice (Leonardo Express is quicker and easier than fighting for a cheap roasting hot coach)

Our Hotel was a 4* near Termini Station. No complaints at all. There was supposed to be a rep presence in the hotel...we never saw anyone, but that wasn't a problem as we didn't need one.

Return leg(on a Boeing 737-300) went just as simply as the outbound journey. Security took a little longer and was a bit chaotic but that wasn't Jet2's doing that was Fiumicino Airport's system. We had a school group returning from a musical tour on the way home (Think Glee Club with ugly kids!). Think some of them were attention deficit, they didn't seem to have a volume control. Shame teachers don't reign them in a bit. We had to tell the lads behind us to stop kicking the seats but once we'd sorted that the flight went by smoothly.

I can imagine the booze and beach package flights can be a rather rowdy, traumatic experience. The golden rule you get what you pay for must be born in mind and your choice of destination will reflect your flying companions. Having said that, our first flight ever and our first experience with Jet2 were very positive.
