“Ticket refunds”

I bought a "flexible" (i.e. exchangeable) ticket on the SNCF web site. When I had to change the travel date I had to pay for a completely new ticket. Nowhere in the process did I get any confirmation that the first ticket would be refunded. E-mailed, no response. No refund on credit card. Terrible service.
