Yes, that is right, reading an article in the national press three years ago about Trustedhousesitters was one of the best things for us. We are retired and have limited money to spend on holidays and through Trustedhousesitters we have been able to visit places we have never been to before, or not visited for years and have had several family reunions in other countries. We have now been a member for three years and during that time have spent upto 18 weeks a year holidaying with Trustedhousesitters. We have house sat in two beautiful bungalows, one in California and the other in Florida and this gave us the opportunity to have family reunions. House sat in an amazing stone cottage in Jersey, a large villa in Malta, small apartment in Italy, countries we had never visited and would have never been able to afford to on our pensions. House sat in Devon, Edinburgh, York, South Wales, Stratford-on-Avon, Lincolnshire and London. We are currently house sitting in an area of Spain we love to visit, but without the cost of renting an apartment or staying in an expensive hotel, and a car is available for our use as well, an added bonus. Each time we house sit we have looked after gorgeous pets and never had any trouble, what you need to ask the house owners before you house sit, "where is the local vets and if they have pet insurance". We have found that most house owners do and if not have an agreement with their vets that they can pay upon their return home, thus saving us to pay out and be reimbursed. Well for anyone wanting to house sit, if you want to get accepted for a house sit, you will need to do some work in the beginning. This means having a fully completed profile, as many pictures as the site allows and if possible, references. If you haven't looked after anyone else's home or pets before, then try getting some character references or references from previous employers. Anything to show you're a real and trustworthy person really. For homeowners, try to put as much information about the house sit as possible - for example exact dates, when you would like the sitter to arrive (if you want it to be a day or two before include that) and what responsibilities are required of a sitter. Often after speaking with a homeowner over a few emails/phonecalls, the house sit turns out to be very different than what was originally posted and sometimes these new details mean it's not feasible for me to take on the site. So try to include as much information as possible as this will ensure you get people who are definitely suitable for your particular assignment.
