“Not worth one star!”

I placed a deposit on the 15th of November 2012 for a bed and was told the delivery date would be the 28th December and that the balance was to be paid for by the 20th of December. I went into the store a week later to pay off the remainder and was again reminded the bed was due to be delivered on the 28th December.
I received a phone call on the 18th December from the head office saying that they couldn't get the bed in from the manufacturer until the 4th January. Not being pleased with this I told them it wasn't suitable and would it be possible to choose another bed. I was told that would be fine and to contact the store and arrange it with them, which I did. An hour later the manager phoned me back to say that she put the order through but it will be the 10th January it will be delivered, even longer!!!
The problem I have is I literally just binned the old bed the day I paid off the new one and I've been currently sleeping on the floor! Not ideal but then I thought I was only going to be waiting for 2 weeks not a month! I went on the internet to look at reviews and to my horror not one person had a good word to say about Dreams.
So it’s now the 8th of January and I received a phone call from Dreams again saying there’s a problem with the manufacturers and I’d have to wait till March for the bed! That’s 4 months without a bed!!!
I asked for a refund and was told Id have to go to the store, but having spoken with the Manager of the store previously I know they don’t refund in the stores, only the contact centres can do it! Then I was told it will take 28 days for a refund!  I've asked to speak to managers, directors, supervisors but can’t get a hold of any of them. If I want to speak to them they schedule in a request and they will get back to you within 48 hours. But I've asked for this three times and have had no communication. I've emailed too but all I get back is ‘your bed is due for delivery on 10th of January’.
All I want is my money back and for people to avoid this company like the plague!

If there's one thing every consumer should be aware of in this day and age it's DO NOT PAY CASH! If you can get credit then do so (but pay it off immediatly) so that you are covered by Section 75. Dreams are currently up for sale, one of the options is that they go into administration, if they do it is highly unlikely you will get your bed or your money back if you paid cash. If you pay on a credit card your card issuer legally has to refund you in such situations. Also, you get more rights if you buy online or over the phone, rather than in store.

Know the rules and protect yourself, whether you are looking at buying from Dreams or anyone else.
