I got one of these to go with my boyfriends PS4, they are amazing little hand helds and are totally under rated in my opinion.

“Over-Hyped Nothing Special.”

★★★☆☆

written by B_Britcliffe on 10/09/2013

Sadly, this Handheld console, did not meet the standards of Hardcore gamers, The games that are out, are very limited and very slim. The console has some pointless features that hardly any games even use. The touchpad at the back hasn't been implemented that much, and where it has been implemented, it feels it could just have been done with a button click rather than the touchpad. The consoles hardware, is great the graphics on SOME games for a handheld is remarkable, and the virtual reality stuff with the cards is great for a few hours. However sadly, the controls are a let-down and the console feels somewhat cheap. Which isn't great for the price of the console. My suggestions for hardcore gamers..... Stick to TV consoles, or PC .... Not handheld.

“PS3-esque Portable Gaming.”

★★★★★

written by LegitReviewer98 on 09/10/2012

The Playstation Vita is unanimously the most powerful handheld console to date. The sheer quality of graphics the system can produce is just off of PS3 quality- play Uncharted: Golden Abyss to see what I mean! The touchscreen is a wise move by Sony, opening up many new possibility’s for high end games like the Playstation Move did. A neat new innovation is tucked away on the back- the Rear Touch Pad. This is essentially a touch-sensitive area that smart developers can utilize to make games even better. Whilst the Rear Touch Pad may initially seem like a messy idea (ie. your fingers will constantly touch it), it really isn't; it's big enough yet small enough. The free Augmented Reality games are also neat, and arguably better then the ones on 3DS. However, as with every console there are a few negatives. The console is rather large, and you may struggle to fit it in most trouser coat pockets (although just putting it in a bag is fine). The price can also be a bit steep (although recent price cuts may interest you). Additionally, their isn't a whole range of great games, with only a few great titles currently released (Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Fifa Football and Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection are a few). However, with upcoming titles Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and Assassin’s Creed: Liberation (both spin-off's of their respective series') the Playstation Vita has a whole range of potential. I would recommend this console to anyone looking to have home console-quality gaming on the go!

“Great bit of kit”

★★★★★

written by TwinCam on 01/06/2012

I really wasn't sure about the PS Vita but i went ahead and bought one. And im very pleased i did. Good Points: Great screen quality, good colors and very crisp also picture is good viewed from any angle. Good sound quality was very surprised at how good music and in game music was reproduced, of course the volume is somewhat limited by small speakers. Graphics this varies from game to game but many games are almost ps3 quality and this will get better with later games as coders learn the new system. Quality made and well put together. Novel controls while touch screens are not new the rear of the Vita is also touch sensitive providing new ways to control games. Bad Points: The system seems a little too small and yet too large for hands, i am a male adult with average size hands i find the Vita is a little small to hold with comfort but yet with the very large screen people with smaller hands will struggle to reach parts of the front and rear touchscreens without taking a hand off, this could get in the way of playing a fast paced game. The whole system is a finger print magnet. This will change but as of writing there is not many truly great games yet. Price of memory card is a bit high and no internal memory, surly they could of made it with a little hard drive or solid state memory in. All in all a great system with a few drawbacks, i would recommend highly with the point this machine is more for adults and fans of proper gaming.

“First Impressions”

★★★★★

written by Review Weasel on 25/02/2012

This review is very much my first impressions of the PS Vita but I have to say I am impressed. I could not put it down the first night I played it and it is still grabbing my attention. Also, being able to play Uncharted in bed in the mornings...brilliant! - Graphics: An HD handheld device. amazing! I was always annoyed that although the psp had good graphics it was limited in terms of backgrounds etc. The Vita on the contrary is lush and very immersive. Some of the games would not look out of place on the PS3. - Range of Games: Ok, so maybe 3 is a bit harsh as this is a new console but I am not that impressed with the initial line up of games. Saying that the games I have played have been excellent. Uncharted: Golden Abyss really shows of the Graphics of this little fella and an early fave for me is Frobisher Says (free - courtesy of my pre-order) which is a series of mini-games which really utilise the various features camera, rear touch-pad etc. - Controls: The dual thumbsticks work very well and make the gaming experience smooth and more like playing on a standard console. The touch pad is also very smooth. I am less impressed by the rear touch pad which seems a little awkward at times but it does offer an extra dimension. - Value For Money - All in all with what you get I think this is good value as it offers just as much as a console but is portable. High end portable gaming at its best. If you are a true gamer and don't mind about having a seaprate phone this is a must gaming experience.
