“College Chat: Where No One Is In College”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Chris94 on 13/04/2017

I recently obtained my associates and am now attending a University full time and thought Chat Avenue would be a great thing to have in the background while bored in class or while working on assignments. First, it was made clear to me right away that nobody in the college room is even in college. Most aren't even old enough to be in the general chat (which hold a minimum age of 13) let alone college chat (16) and chats are beyond repulsive in this room.

Second, it appears to be the exact same people in the room from duck till dawn, including a middle aged man from the UK who types in all caps and randomly cyber bullies minors for no apparent reason, which is all that really happens on this website. You will randomly be targeted by losers whose self esteem is so low, they hide behind their computer screens and insult others in a sad attempt to make themselves feel superior. Often people who you've never even spoken to before will send what's known as a "whisper" message (a message that can be seen by the whole room that is aimed at you by another user) containing random abuse and random insults. One example is how I said I was leaving to go for a jog, in which a random user I've never even spoken to before whispered "good, know one wants you here anyway." I simply ignored her and left. When I got back on later, I said "hi room" and this same random user replied with an obnoxious rolling face emoji followed by "How pathetic!" I simply blocked the user and moved on. But everyday, the same people send random harassing IMs or whispers for literally no reason, I've never spoken to them before, and every time I just be the adult (since it's a college chat, or at least it's supposed to be) and simply block them, but they're persistent, since you can't permanently block users, when you leave and log back in, they're automatically unblocked. Major fail on the site's end but oh well. Thankfully we have mods to stop this, right? Well, they're supposed to but that's not the case.

Ironically, the mods only add to the bullying and will kick people out for literally no reason at all. In college chat, I had just logged in randomly one morning, and left the room to get a glass of water. As I was walking back to my laptop, I noticed a messaged popped up from the room, and it said "You have been kicked out by so-and-so." I didn't send any IMs or group messages, nor was my user name or pic inappropriate. They literally did it just because. So later I went back in and asked them why they kicked my out, they replied "I didn't kick you out." Another review had this very same thing happen to them so its clear the mods are a bunch of children who like to play games. Whatever!

Folks, in a nutshell, this site is used and patrolled by people who's self esteem is so low, they need to randomly target people to build themselves up because its the closest they'll ever get to feeling good about themselves through success in life.

One of three things will happen to you if you go:
1) Cyberbullied even if you keep to yourself.
2) Kicked out by a mod who's so desperate to have a sense of authority, since they'll never obtain such a position in real life.
3) Perhaps the most likely (roughly 3/4ths of the time), the room will be flooded by a loser who sets a spam bot up in all the rooms day in day out. He lives his life determined to do this because it's all he has to live for.

This website is all these people have to live for, thus when a mod is fired or a user is banned, they freak out and rant. "Oh no! What am I gonna do with my life now?"

Here's the thing, unlike these other users, I'm actually in college, and when I'm not working on assignments, I'm either out jogging or just quietly playing video games! On weekends, if I'm not out with friends drinking at the bar, I'm at the movies watching the latest flick. I like to explore random places and travel, swim in massive lakes, oceans, etc. The point I'm trying to make is that I literally have no reason to be on here and neither do you! As one user stated earlier "Any normal socially active person doesn't need / or have time to use a chatroom." And this website has made this quote abundantly clear!

Close your laptops, shut down your PCs and go outside!
