“Never ever again”

Arrived at Innsbruck to a closed office resulting in having to spend €270 on taxis, €€ on mobile calls abroad to try to confirm how to retrieve the car the next day. Jet2 had moved our flights and not informed Sixth. The customer service couldn’t have been worse, we lost a day of our holiday and €€€

“Cancelled booking ”

Booked a 7 seater 8 months in advance, since then the hire rates increased by 300%, 4 weeks before my flight they cancelled my hire. Offered ZERO alternatives and ZERO assistance to help. They simply do not care and it was left to me to find the solution but OK for them, they hired my €800 vehicle for €3500 to somebody else so they win, profit before customer without doubt.

“Blame someone else!”

I booked a flight and car hire with Jet2 for August. Due to Covid, Jet2 decided to cancel the flight (fair enough). When I cancelled the car hire I was charged a £37.00 cancellation fee. When I contacted Jet2, they advisd that even though they use the Jet2 name, it's not really Jet2 car hire, it's provided by a third party and not their problem. Your better off just going through a price comparison website and picking one with free cancellation (they are plenty)

“Jet2 flights good, Jet2 car hire rubbish!”

I booked car hire for 3 weeks from Alicante airport in November 2019. Jet2 were offering a small car for £75 a week so that looked great. I then fell for their Full Protection insurance which cost me a further £113.61 but I thought would give me peace of mind. At Alicante I went to pick up the car from the hire company 'RecordGo' and the counter assistant wanted me to pay a further amount of over 200 euros for their own insurance. I said I had already paid but he told me that my Jet2 insurance wouldn't count if I had an accident. I refused to pay and he said it was very unusual for a senior driver not to pay for this extra insurance and promptly charged me a compulsory 84 euros for being over 70 (I am 72), I have not seen this charge advertised anywhere in the Jet2 information. I was also charged 66.91euros for a full tank of petrol (the car was a Skoda Fabia) and something called an administration and refuelling charge of 30.11 euros. I had to allow my credit card to be held with an 1100 euro deposit and told it would be up to 30 days before any outstanding amount would be taken. I have been back in the UK for 14 days now and feeling stressed as to what my next credit card statement may show. Never, ever again will I book through Jet2 and neither will others judging by the reviews.

“Record Car Hire”

Having booked and paid what we believed to be 2 weeks Jet2 car hire in Spain, when we collected the car at Malaga airport, we were told that we had to pay an additional 204 euros. This was for fuel (which we anticipated) 83 euros. This was reimbursed, albeit at an extortionate rate, because we returned the car with a full tank of fuel. Service & refuelling charge 37 euros. What on earth is this?. Senior driver charge 84 euros. Car hire booked with the full knowledge that I was 71 years of age. This as left a particular bad taste in our mouths and will not book car hire again with this company or any other unless these charges are identified at the booking stage. This plainly looks like the case of squeezing money from tourists. Holiday period 03.09.19 to 17.09.19

“2hrs wait.....”

It took more than 2 hours combined wait for the transfer bus and the check in and recieve our car. More than 50 customers on same evening subject to same waiting time. Would never use again. Main terminal hire companies only from now onwards

“Additional Hidden Charges”

I was staying in the Hotel Sur Menorca in July and decided to hire a small car for 1 day to visit another part of the island. I spoke to the Jet 2 rep who was based at our hotel and she advised they can now arrange this and I asked for a quote, which was reasonable ( around 60 euros for the day which included for insurance) this was for a small fiat panda. I agreed to go ahead and felt it would be a safer bet as I was actually speaking to an English speaking human being who was based at my hotel. Due to Unknown and unadvised charges I would have had to pay in advance I decided to cancel the booking the day before picking up the car, the upfront charges amounted to over 1250 euros and I was not advised about these at time of booking, was only made aware when the email confirmation finally came through. I spoke to my Jet 2 rep at the hotel who had carried out my booking and cancelled with her, no mention at this stage of any charges a full cancellation and refund would be granted so all was well I thought. The next day I see that my credit card has been charged the 60 euros although I have cancelled and received an email confirming my cancellation. After numerous emails, phoned calls and discussions i am not getting my money back so I have paid 60 euros for nothing and cancelled the day before collecting my car and was advised I would pay nothing. DO NOT HIRE A CAR FROM THEM.

“Ordered and paid for Car hire through Jet2 with...”

Ordered and paid for Car hire through Jet2 with Centauro and paid for extra insurance. When collecting car from Malaga Airport I was told that I would have to pay another 256 euros for the extra insurance to get zero excess. This made the car hire much more expenses than if I had done it myself. Don't use Jet2 for car hire and certainly never use Centauro.

“Its a misleading website”

I booked via Jet 2 website who used Budget as a supplier. I took the precaution of extra Damage Insurance. The confirmation clearly stated and indicated that ALL charges/fees were included. When I arrived at Faro I was told a higher grade vehicle was allocated and that this was "cheaper". It turns out cheaper than normal for that group of car but I did not ask for it ! Budget also loaded extra charges. I did not have the time to dispute all this at the time because of time constraints and all attempts to get Jet 2 to intervene/refund have proved fruitless.In the end my charge was almost doubled. Don't trust them with a barge pole!

“Stay well clear”

I booked car hire through Jet2. A week later I still hadn't received confirmation of my booking. I called them to try and see what was going on. They couldn't find my booking and assured me that it hadn't gone through so don't worry. Well I was worried, so told them I wanted it looked into further. Their response was for ME to phone the car hire company to see if the booking was there. Anyway, I did call the company and was told by them, via many emails that they didn't have the booking. Finally I thought I could relax. How wrong was I? After then booking a car through another company, I got an email from the Spanish car hire. "Hello, Jet2 have now sent your booking number so we have your details and look forward to seeing you!". Great! Now I had 2 car hires. Phoned Jet2 with the now obtained booking number. I went through the scenario with the Spanish assistant and told her of my sheer anger at the situation, she told me not to worry, as my car is ready. An hour! Another hour on the phone trying to explain that I wanted it CANCELLED! I'm going to leave you to guess whether or not a month on if I've received my refund? Because yes, they charged me. Stay Well Clear!

booked car before leaving uk at a cost of 156 pounds including insurance arrived at palma tried to charge me 250 euros plus 250 euros for insurance and an additional 1400 euros deposit told them to forget about it as it was far too expensive just got credit card statement in only to discover they had taken 156 pounds from my account for something I did not receive and at time of booking said cancellations were free so would not recommend anyone book car hire this way .

We travel to Spain regularly and always hire a car. We used the Jet2 portal and chose to rent through Record Rent a car - a company we have used before for the 8 days hire. We picked up the car at Alicante airport. At the end of the rental we returned the car to Alicante airport in the condition we had rented it in - i.e. lots of dents and scratches all round. We had used the car very little and had not damaged it in any way. The one person in the office was not interested in checking the car back in and we left it in a parking space in the public multi story car park. Less than an hour after leaving the car, we received an itemised invoice from Record to repair damage to the car. The total was for 388.71 euros and the amount had been taken from our credit card account. We were amazed at the fact that Record could get a bodyshop to inspect a car, itemise and cost the damage and get it typed and emailed in less than an hour on a Sunday morning! Despite requests to record for proof, they have failed to respond to our emails and interestingly have also failed to refund the 50% of the fuel we had not used, despite being told there would be a refund for fuel not used. On looking over the internet this appears a regular sham that Record are applying to clients who do not take out the extra insurance.

“insurance deceipt with axis”

Hired a car from jet2 car hire via centauro - web site recommends AXIS insurance which it takes immediately from my credit card along with car hire cost. On arrival at Alicante they tell me insurance is not for the car only the passengers and take further insurance and car hire cost from my credit card. Why would anyone take out Car insurance that does not cover the car ? Jet 2 should not be recommending this insurance - BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE CAR COMPANY jET 2 SHOULD MAKE THEIR CAR HIRE WEB SITE CLEARER REGARDING INSURANCE

“hidden charges”

Booked a car for 7 days. Pick up: Malaga. Waited 2.5 hours in a queue to get to the reservation desk. Person behind the desk tried to sell me additional insurance. It was explained that the car came with a full tank and any not used on return would be refunded! Happy Days! Dropped car off 7 days later with no issue. The day after returning, my creditcard was charged £51.70 with no explanation. To date Jet2 have referred me to FIREFLY ( the car rental company) inspite the fact that my contract was with Jet2 (?). I have left a customer message on the firefly website but in bold letters at the top of the form it states that if I reserved the car though another company (Jet2?) I should speak to them first. I can see where this is going (no where!) and I wish I had read these reviews first!!!

“Rip off car hire by jet2”

Everything about this car hire is a scheme, Fuel, you are charged €27.00 just to receive a car with a full tank, the fuel is charged at €1.50 litre (1.06 standard garage charge). Additional insurance cover purchased in the UK, before is no good once in Spain, there you are coerced into paying the supplement of €150.00 to avoid having to leave a €1500 deposit. Total hire charge for a Micra €270.00 for 7 days! Not only will I never use this hire company again, I will never use jet2 either! Why are you not told up front what to expect?? Because it is a total rip off!

“NEVER AGAIN!!”

We hired a car in cyprus in September 2015. Jet2 recommended Budget. Never again. Tried to charge us extra for petrol and no help whatsoever from Jet2 despite contacting them several times on arrival back in the UK. They just washed their hands of it although it was booked through their website along with our package holiday. Disgusting service.

“Steer well clear”

The jet 2 car hire website appears to offer good value, however beware of hidden charges. On returning our car to firefly ( hertz) we were charged extra for fuel admin, even though the car Was full at pick up plus full on return. So we got charged for a service admin charge, when in reality No service is provided. It's a rip off !!!

“beware of Goldcar from Palma airport”

 Newcastle June 2015 After booking online via Jet2 car hire , we went for the more expensive full to full fuel policy and we thought we had getting a good deal for 1 week car hire for our holiday in Majorca . When we arrived at the airport the queue was horrendous. After waiting for over 2 hours my wife went to their express check in that is used for walk in customers that who have not pre booked. She was told if we pay €50 we could queue jump. As we were hot and tired we agreed to this . However when we tried to get the car we were told we had to pay for the fuel up front and any unused fuel who be credited back to us , this is their full to full policy ( this is not explained when you book ) . To rub salt into wounds they wanted €118 for full tank of Diesel. We realised that this was why the queue for so long as everyone was arguing about this fuel policy. Because we were stuck at Palma airport and it was now getting on for 3 hours we agreed to pay and complin to Jet 2 on our return. The car was a new Alpha Guiletta and was in good condition . When we took the car back we had used just over a quarter of the tank , so we thought we would get €80 back. They credited our card back 5 days later for £34 . They claim the rest of the money went on admin charges. We have sent our concerns to Jet 2 but as yet had no reply. Do yourself a favour , keep clear of this set up !!!

I too was tricked by a supposed cheap car hire through Jet2, including buying 'no excess' insurance. I hired from a Glasgow to Malaga flight. The car had 57k on the clock and showed 'Service Required'. After a blown tyre, the car hire just said you need to use your insurnace and fix it yourself. This car and an eventual replacement showed tyres not inflated correctly. Jet2 showed they did not care and ignored my question about their review of the safety procedures/maintenance of the car hire company. Important not to use Jet2 car hire and if necessary arrange car hire through a UK car hire company before going out.

“Cost a lot more than advertised”

Booked flights to Spain through Jet2 (no problem there) then saw their advert for car hire on their webpage. Price looked good, at £68 for 10 days (from Malaga airport). It said that CDW was covered and there would be no excess to pay. When I got a confirmation e-mail it said that I may 'wish to' purchase extra insurance from the hire car company, Firefly (Jet2 just front this operation), when I get to Spain. It also suggested that there may be an excess to pay. Some time later just before the holiday I got an e-mail from another company, rentalcars.com, offering to sell me extra insurance to cover tyres, windscreen, underside of car, clutch etc,etc, which would cost £45. I thought I had better pay this as I would be travelling on some dirt roads where I was going. When we got to Malaga airport and found the hire car office in the underground carpark we had to complete details on a computer screen outside of the office while we waited to be called in. We were then offered further insurance for 90 euros to cover the same things we had paid the extra £45 for. When I said I was already covered, they said that it was not with them and there would be 700 euro excess to pay if any damage was caused to the uninsured parts of the car. I did not buy any further insurance but had to pay an extra 20 euros 'service charge' which, when I got my credit card bill, turned out to be £27. So the car hire price that was advertised at £68 for 10 days but ended up being £140!

Just had similar experience. Booked a car through Jet2 Car Hire using Record Go at what seemed an advantageous price. Took out individual fully comprehensive insurance cover with separate company as precaution. At Malaga Airport, Record Go refused to accept the separate insurance and, because I was over 70 years of age, they insisted on a payment for their own insurance cover at a cost of Euros 140. Should have walked away and caught train but didn't.
Will take it up with Jet2 but not optimistic they will show any interest judging by the amount of adverse criticism they have already received on internet forums on this particular 'rip-off'' subject.

“DO NOT USE!! Beware of being mis led with this company ”

We booked and paid £302 pounds for car hire for 2 weeks for August. The contract on website says all inclusive insurance. You have the option to purchase extra insurance once at desk to get car. We had no intention of taking out more as we only wanted it to potter to beach and back daily. The Spanish girl at desk while can speak a bit of English is not sufficiently fluent and difficult to understand in the heavy accent. Said something bout 500 euros had no idea what she was going on about. Kept going on about where to go get the car. Incidentally had to wait a full 1 hour and 1/2 to get car whereas if you didn't pre book the counter was clear. So next the form is slapped on the counter with the fuel included which we said we wanted to take. They add another 26 Euros for the pleasure of having you at their desk and 76 euros for some extra cover which we did not request. I asked what it was. I got 'you get back' did we stuff!!!! Total mis leading mis description of what you have to pay. End of line you don't take put you don't get car. So you loose what you paid in uk. I complained to Jet 2 when I got home. Got a standard letter that is sent to all people saying they are not responsible for what you take out. Thing is we didn't want it. Didn't request it. Oh and when you drop the car back off. No one comes to see the car if it's ok. Just beware if car anyone takes the expensive option of 500 euros and up I don't fancy my chances with that lot getting money back. Never again. Could take taxis every day for less. Less hassle less waiting around. Won't be back. Their flights are good but car hire is certainly not
