Travelled return from Toronto to Gatwick. Thank god I checked in online. Tehy had four flights leaving around the same time and over 500 people standing in line to check-in; the floor walkers were beside themselves tryign to cope with frsutrated travellers who haven't even got to Security yet!
Outbound was on the newer A330 jets. Plane was nice, crew OK given it was a late evening flight but the food was awful. Easily the worst in-flight food experience I have ever had. Cardboard covered in butter would have been more appetizing. And to say you get a glass of wine, is a little misleading. Its more like a shot. The movie selection is pretty poor which was surprising as it a newer jet and you would expect more choice of titles to choose from. Air Canada's IES wins this battle for me.
The flight back was on one of their older jets with no rear headset TV so spent part of the flight trying to get a view of the TV and eventually gave up. Food was even worse than the outbound - tasteless chicken parmesan and a 'pizza' snack. I had the flight attendent request light on for 45 minutes and no one came, just swanned past the several other folks who had them on during the time.
I know its all about expectation but you expect a little better having parted with over a $1000. British Airways next time for me, even if its a couple $$$ extra.
