Illia.no's Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria

My wife and I recently met friend at a quaint little family owned Italian restaurant I in Goldaboro,NC.Despite the trash in the parking lot and the decades old exterior paint, the place still seemed charming enough peak my curiosity...then we walked in and thats where the nightmare began. The sign just inside the door read,"please wait to be seated" and after3 or 4 min.were greeted by an angry older man.(Later we found out he is Mr.Illiano,owner) As he began to seat us he paused long enough to curse at a server for not doing so.We waited a seemingly long 8 minutes before our server came by our table and w/o introduction asked for our drink order. Upon return, offering stale bread asked ifwe were ready to order, without being asked we ordered fried calamari for our appetizer.The calamari was chewy, overcooked and obviously fried on oil needed to be changed.I was disappointed to find the farfalle ala salmon to be bland andclearly prepared using frozen salmon.My wife seemed to enjoy the stuffed shells, although again a frozen product.After only during our server (later we found out from another employee hename is Candice) she sat behind the front counteron the computer whie we waited patiently fot a drink refill. Topping it all off is the frozen tiramisu that they claim is homemade.Which by the way was not offered, it and coffee had to be asked for.Candice when your s service improves so will your gratuities,Illiano's can not possibly survive, given all the new restaurant activity in the area, without reinventing itself.New Management for the dining room would be a good start, then Mr. Illiano could concentrate on what he knows food prepeation.I would not be able to work for someone who treats and talks to his employee as he does,with the cruelty and disrespect for others.
