Bizarre

We attended a Ball recently at the venue and whilst it is impressive when you first arrive and the house itself in lovely I found the experience rather odd.

The function area is a pavilion at the back which I have to say is very nice. The problem started when i tried the red wine which had I spilt it would probably have burned a whole through the nice white linen table cloth. I decided I would have to aprroach the bar and see what they offered on the wine list. I was told there is no wine list and they only have the wine which had been provided on the table or another red by the glass. this red was marginally better and I persuaded the bar staff to sell me a bottle but when I tried to pay on my debit card was told they only take cash. They have a whole section of the bar dedicated to Champagne ranging from £55.00 a bottle up to over £200.00 a bottle but they don't take cards. Had i know that they only dealt in cash I would have secluded a well stuffed brown envelope in the jacket of my dinner suit! I can only think that they have a lot of scrap metal dealers frequent the place.
