Fantastc Shop To Do Business With
I have just purchased a trek ladies bike from kb cycles in newcastle upon tyne.it was the most satisfying exoerience ever.good old fashioned customer service.nothing was too much trouble, they rang with regular updates on my order, offered tea or coffee in the shop and could not have been more helpful.the knowledge of the staff was second to non, without being condescending as most specialist shops can be,(particularly trek milton keynes) be it cycling, horse riding or any other sport.the deal they gave me was by far the best.(having contacted several dealerships) and even though I live in cheshire, I was so glad I discovered them.i will be a regular visitor for all things cycking from now on and cannot recommend them enough.....well done kb, keep it up.

I Bought A 2009 Scott Sub 10 Bicycle From Kb
I bought a 2009 Scott Sub 10 bicycle from KB Cycles for £649. It was old stock (2 year old model)and reduced from £799 to reflect this. When I initially rang for some advice on what frame size I should go for, the person on the end of the phone didn't seem too interested on advising me. His answer was " a medium or small frame would fit - not that helpful!
Anyway, after I done some investigation on Scott frame sizes I ordered a medium frame which was correct. The bike arrived 4/5 days later. (not that quick considering you pay £30 carriage!) When the bike arrived it was well packed albeit in a previously opened box. When I unwrappepd the bike I immediately noticed the seat post was severely scratched, as well as scratches here and there. It was evident that the bike was ex-display and that it had been on display for a good time.
There was also a very deep scratch on the front of the frame. When I rang up to complain I did receive an apology, although I seriously wasn't happy that I'd been sold a bike that was advertised as new but was a ex-display model. Judging by the marks on the seat post countless people had tried it out.
Because of the carriage costs I suggested that instead of refunding me they should at least reduce the price further given the condition of the bike, although they refused stating it was priced to sell. Another shop had the same bike for sale for £519, but they only had a small frame, so I bite the bullet abd paid the extra for the medium size. I wasn't to fussed on a refund as I had hunted high and low for the particular bike in the 2009 model and it seems they were the only 2 left available. KB Cycles fobbed me off by agreeing to replace the heavily scratched seatpost but that was it.
I gave them the opportunity to at least offer a further reduction in the bike's price given its condition, but they point-blank refused. I guess I could have called their bluff by demanding a refund knowing it would cost them to pick the bike up and be lumbered with a bike they've been trying to sell for 2 years they would have compensated me. Although it wasn't so much the money but the princible.
Anyway, I believe when someone does you wrong there should be a consequence, and KB Cycles' is this review. Needless to say I bought my wife's Scott P50 elsewhere, and yes it arrived new!
