Hargroves Cycles Is Highly Recommended!!! Thank You So Much!

From the initial purchase of a bike to having repairs done until the last email conversation - CUSTOMER SERVICES IS AMAZING!!! First call I made was just after purchasing the bike online with the wrong method of payment. The issue got resolved in minutes (unfortunately, I didn't catche his name). When the bike arrived, the front fork adjuster was somehow faulty. I emailed customer services to ask for advice. The person I dealt with had been fantastic in dealing with the problem. She is very professional, very kind, very understanding and solved the problem - more than I am sure anyone else would have. Hargroves is highly recommended!!! Thank you so much!!!

Buying A Bike

Visited totton shop on 10/09/16 female member of staff gave me good advise on mtb available. Returned following day for test ride, ignored by staff for ten minutes before having to ask if somebody could serve me. Staff seemed young and inexperienced. Told bike didn't come with pedals and I would have, to purchase them (not the cases) told I collect the bike following Tuesday bike not ready. Items requested to be fitted not fitted and handed over in a, plastic bag. Couldn't seem to get items on order and blamed suppliers. Would, not use Hargrove again more interested in taking my money then assisting me back into cycling. The experience, of buying a, cycle at Hargrove cycles was not a, pleasure Note they did refund price of pedals when pointed out I had been charged.

Didnt Feel Like A Valued Customer.

I went to look for a bike to cycle to work at Hargroves in Totton, I was looking to spend around 500 on the bike and 100-150 on accessories and had completed some research on the bike I wanted online. Anyway on my first visit the service was pretty good and the guy was helpful. Slight mistake in the colour that was ordered/reserved vs what I wanted however a phone call resolved that after I noticed the colour on the receipt.

I called again the next day to ask when the bike would be ready and that I wanted to get a list of accessories that I wasn't sure were in stock at this branch. I was advised the bike was ready and to pick out the accessories and they would fit them.

So I turn up at the shop and there is a guy in there in all his cycle gear taking up one of the sales guys time. I wait about and then another guy starts helping me out, he goes to the bike and suggests that I go look for the accessories I want. I'm no bike expert so I did ask a few questions like which mudguards would fit etc. Anyway the sales guy that was assisting the guy in the cycle gear kinda indicates that he needs the guy helping me to assist him and so he says could I go look for my additional items.

Anyway I pay the bill and the guy says you want to take all this now.. I was like yeah thinking I wonder if he's gonna fit all this stuff to the bike.. lights, mudguards, lock etc.. but no.. I was thinking this is pretty rubbihs.. I asked if they could adjust the saddle and was handed off to a different sales guy... Anyway I took all the stuff and the bike home and fitted the bits myself.

The front mudguard didn't fit as the bolt provided was too short, not good when I was advised they were suitable for the bike.. luckily I had a longer bolt in my shed stash which did the trick.

I don't think ill be going back to this store unless I have a problem with the bike, seems they want to pay more attention to the enthusiast and got the feeling they were thinking I should maybe go to Halfords instead...

The bike is very good.. but I could have got this model from a few other stores and quite honestly wish I had.

Fareham Hargroves

I purchased a road bike just over a year ago, the bike was the correct size for me, but for some reason I constantly had pains shooting down my neck and my shoulders. At first I thought this might be me needing to adjust to a road bike but this wasn't the case. With the weather being nice recently I got back on the road bike and the pain came back again. I was now convinced the bike was not the right size for me, so I went to Fareham hagroves to have them check the size for me. A member of staff put the bike on the rollers and took a look at my posture and within no time at all recognised that my arms where not in the correct position. It turned out because I had a male bike the handle bars where too far apart forcing my arms to not be in the correct position resulting in the pain in my neck and shoulders. He change them over to female bars and boom the problem was solved. One very happy customer.. thank you so much.

Bianchi Impulso From Southampton To Bolton [ Grt M/c]

selected my bike late Sunday evening ,Was confirmed on Monday morning.Dispatch date confirmed on Tuesday morning ,arrived on Thursday morning well before the actual delivery date . Bike assembled and on the road within twenty minutes of taking out of its packaging.No fuss , no damage , no problem .Excellent service ,will use again

Good Range But Poor Communication & Service

They have a great range of products but that is where thing then start to go wrong. I have found them like McDonald's in that I haven't been for a while so I think it is a good idea but then regret it until enough time passes that I forget re-visit & regret it.

Over the last 4 years I have bought 2 bike from them & had repair work done to a brompton. The first bike was a mountain bike which had problem from the start with gears not being properly set up requiring another shop to fix.

The Brompton went in for repair work a couple of years after this event, I was told that it would take a while to fix & that I would be phoned when ready. Great, after a month I hadn't heard anything so I phoned to find it was not ready & would take a while. After another month I phoned & was told it wasn't ready. Fine as long as I am told when it is ready. I thought I would again about 2 weeks later & was told it had been ready for over a month. When I went it they said it had been ready for weeks but no one had been bothered to phone to tell me this important bit of information.

Another couple of years later I was convinced by my employers cycle to work scheme to enrol so I got a quote from the cycle to work scheme from hargroves. I sent all the information off but did not hear anything. I freely admit I was not great at following this up & then do not properly look at my pay slip for another couple of months. When I did I noticed I was paying for a bike which I had never received.

When I followed it up I was told by employees of hangovers a range of thing from I can cancel it to I must have a bike. To there credit they did offer the New Years range of bike. When went in to the shop no one seemed to have a clue about this situation & I had to go through the whole problem again.

Hargroves Swindon Brilliant !

Went to Hargroves Swindon to purchase my new cycle scheme bike. After reading other reviews on here I was a little bit apprehensive. Thankfully I can report the service was fabulous ! All of the staff were happy to help me. They did look very busy which speaks volumes. I cannot wait to pick up my new bike tax free !!

I cannot recommend these guys enough. I'm glad I ignored the other reviews and have now found a new local bike shop that I am very happy with.

Just one criticism. You need more girlies stuff that isn't pink :)

Great Little Shop

popped in to this little gem recently. Great range of products and knowledgable staff. Dealt with a chap who seemed to know a lot about various products. Whilst the service was a little slow I could clearly see they were busy and the time they took with me was worth the wait. Highly reccomennded . They seem to support the local cycling clubs too judging by the jerseys on the wall.

Spoiled By Appalling Pre Delivery Inspection

I ordered and have now received a Bianchi InfinitoCV, the bike is superb but as I had researched it, that was expected. What I did not expect was the level of service received. The bike took nearly a week to arrive as it had to be "out inspected". Yet on arrival and assembly I had to disconnect and re route the brake cables as they were crossed badly with the shifting cables. The indexing on the rear was not correctly adjusted and needs sorting out. The front mech L Screw and H Screw have not been set and the chain rubs when on the 34 ring three sprockets from the top of the cassette and similarly when on the 50 ring but two sprockets from the bottom of the cassette.

If this was out inspected at all by a Cytec qualified mechanic......he needs re training!!!

Having said that the member staff that advised me initially was very good and dealt with my requests in a professional manner. Sadly his professionalism has been overshadowed by what followed.

I will sort the bike out myself, but will not return to this retailer.
