Avoid At All Costs!!!!!

Ordered and paid for a sofabed which was due to be delivered last Friday, no delivery, no call from Modern or delivery company (XDP). Tried calling Modern.co.uk over 20 times to see why our sofabed was never delivered but no answer. On the tracking system it says our item has been 'carded' meaning there was an attempted delivery - complete LIE - no sign of our sofabed and no communication - although they have our money. Do NOT buy from these idiots - you have been warned!

Avoid, Avoid , Avoid

I am currently on hold (22 minutes and counting) not unusual in any case. I have rung to confirm that the 4 sofas that were delivered after a very painful process were in fact for a colour not even available on the Modern website. Not that I am surprised as from beginning to end the whole experience has been between poor and shoddy. I would not ever recommend anyone endure the painful and in this day and age antiquated customer service offering provided by Modern. It is laughable that the CEO makes claims to offer great customer service delivering bulky items the experience is far from that.

Order date 10th April

Ordered 4 Sofa’s (manhattan’s) purposely chosen due to the 1-2 week delivery time frame

The 1-2 week time frame was joke..

After innumerable calls to Customer services waiting on hold for anywhere between 15-25 minutes on each call

No-one seemingly able to take responsibility for the diabolical delivery service

On being informed on one of my calls that the sofas were damaged I was offered to cancel the order at this point, I did not want to cancel the order otherwise I wouldn’t have placed the order in the first place

To ease the obvious inability to deliver I then choose sofas that were on a 1-2 DAY lead time – this again failed…

When the sofas turned up 3 days later… they were in fact green.

The only two options on the website being dark grey OR light grey

I was then told I needed to repackage which I did, collection done.

I have now called to ask for the money to be refunded as not one person from modern has called to confirm receipt of the goods back.

Modern.com Poor Quality Sofas

We bought a corner sofa from them.

Leg colour was supposed to be steel- arrived as painted grey

Fabric was not the same as Web site

Legs didn't even fit as wrong drill holes

We forgave the above as we were pleased to have a sofa, but then within 4 months the chaise side springs collapsed.

They offered to give us a exchange or upgrade of £90 if we paid £90 also! 

We did exchange for a new sofa and although it's same colour etc the coverings are cheap as they are bobbling.

Avoid them like the plague!

Beyond Incompetent

Ordered two sofas that didn't turn up. Assured it would arrive that evening/first thing the following morning. Still nothing. Carrier then sent them back to the Modern.co.uk warehouse in error so a week on I am still waiting. Order was rearranged for delivery next Monday and after receiving several emails saying it was going to be delivered today, I called customer services 3 times to make sure it would not be delivered today as there would be no-one there to take the delivery. They assured me that it would be Monday, however, when I got home today, I got a card saying they had tried to deliver! I am also still waiting for a refund of the delivery charge which should have taken 3 days to process. Appalling service.

Epic Fail - Don't Touch With A Barge-pole

Ordered a sofa bed from modern.co.uk. Took the day off, delivery was 3 hours late. Wrong sofa.

Took another day off to wait for the replacement. but, they couldn't apparently pick up the first incorrect one at the same time, so had to take another day off for the return pick up. They finally delivered the correct sofa, 3.5 hours late. Customer service were hopeless and unable to help.

Several conversations with their customer service team about the still outstanding incorrect sofa pickup. They promised a timely pick up, and had apparently spoken to the delivery company, so took a 3rd day off. Delivery company don't turn up, ended up wasting day sitting at home waiting for them. No communication and delivery company not picking up the phone.

Obviously furious at this point. Took 2 weeks for the customer services team to finally make arrangements. Took a 4th day off to wait for the pick up. 4 hours late.

Delivery company finally arrived. Was so glad to get rid of it. They even left a nice dent in the wall where they shoved the sofa too hard (2 man team, but one of them was really unfit and clearly not able lift properly, so badly manhandled the sofa).

NEVER AGAIN from them or their parent brand worldstores or any other subsidiaries. Research since then seemed to show that they've been reported to trading standards and that moneysavingexpert have lodged a complaint also on behalf of their readers. Wish I'd known before as would have saved 4 days of my life.
