Natuzzi Nightmare

I purchased a Natuzzi Sofa from the Thurrock store on the 4th May 2017. The sofa finally arrived on the 25th August. Problem is the sofa that arrived wasnt the sofa we had ordered. On top of this, the sofa was broken and collapsed on one side. The delivery driver who delivered the sofa apologised profusely and told us someone would come to recollect the broken sofa. 10 days later and Natuzzi still havent offered us any explanations! I called them on the day it was delivered and told them to collect the incorrect / broken sofa and refund me as I didnt want to wait another 3 months. After numerous calls to the Lakeside store with the two guys I dealt with they told me that their regional director would call me. So this morning at 9am I received a call from him. He told me he would call me back today to confirm refund and collection of the sofa. 12 hours later and no call still. So I called and spoke to the person I dealt with at the store again. I confirmed that I would be delivering the sofa back to their store this week and collecting my refund and expenses for delivery. I am totally shocked that a Company like Natuzzi would have such poor customer service. Almost completely ignoring their customers. When you spend thousands on furniture you need the peace of mind that the company actually cares once they have taken your money. Natuzzi unfortunately dont.

Appalling Shambles Of A Company - Avoid!

We ordered a sofa and two chairs from Designer Sofas at Grand Designs Live in Birmingham NEC in October 2015, £4125 fully paid before delivery. When we got notification online of the delivery in January, I noticed a chair was missing from the order so rang to query. This was amended and all three pieces did arrive, but the one that had been missing arrived broken (when assembled it sat at a 45 degree angle!) so the delivery company took it straight back. We rang to inform Designer Sofas and were told to email them which we did immediately.

We heard nothing so rang to chase it up (a pattern that would continue for the next almost 4 months and counting). After a very confusing few weeks in which the sofa company claimed the delivery company (Home and Retail) were arranging for a repair and the delivery company claimed it was nothing to do with them, and we spent a lot of time phoning both, eventually we were told the delivery company had arranged the repair and would ring us after the repair date to arrange delivery. This didn't happen so we rang again to discover that when the repairman turned up they had lost the chair. They claimed they had now found it and would arrange the repair again. Same thing happened again, they lost the chair. Many more phone calls and Designer Sofas said they had another chair the same which they would send instead. A delivery date was arranged for Feb 24, I took a second day off work. Ten minutes into the delivery slot we received a phone call to say they had lost the second chair. Yet more phone calls and another delivery date was arranged for Feb 29. I took a third day off work and a chair did arrive but it was a completely different style of chair. Designer Sofas told us to keep that chair while they sorted out the other (and even suggested we may 'come to like' the non-matching chair rather than the one we had ordered and paid for!). More time passed and we hadn't heard anything, again we had to make all the calls and we were promised a delivery on March 12th and assured it would definitely happen. No delivery turned up.

More phone calls. Another delivery was arranged for March 20th and this time the chair DID arrive, however there were no bolts to attach the swivel base to the chair, and as at the time of writing this review (April 5th 2016) so it remains in the living room, in two pieces, unusable, a wildly expensive ornament.

This account is, if you can imagine, a very much simplified version. It is close to impossible to speak to anyone at Designer Sofas who can actually do anything to resolve the issue as they are always 'uncontactable' for some reason or another. Often I will have to ring every day for 3 days before I can get any information at all, some of which will later to prove to be untrue.

The functional sofa and chair we have are beautiful and high quality, but very much not worth the frustration, wasted holiday and time spent on (at the last count over 60) phone calls.

Do yourself a favour and take your business elsewhere. Avoid like the plague.

Hello Gabi

Feel free to contact me regarding my (still ongoing) experience.

BabyHuey

Hi Syd

Sorry only just seen this - tweet sent

Gabi2016

Hi I empathise with you too. I'm having the same kind of problems bolts still missing since February 2016 delivery. Sofa is wrong colour cream and not white! Barclays credit took my case over - they notice the label on sofa says bull 101 natural white and I had ordered torro 101 natural white which is more white than cream. Barclays have given up! So they are just as useless! Can't be bothered! So under the consumers act 2015 I am taking them to court and getting my money back . This is all ongoing! There not registered with furniture ombudsman - now I know why! The customer service is awful! No one helping me! My only choice is to take them to court. Yes your right not worth the hassle- take your business else where! To a reliable furniture company who is registered.

Hi Babyhuey,

Monday (perhaps predictably!) did not go well. It would be good to speak to you about your experience if you'd be up for it? I'm on twitter, same username.

sydlington

Not formally, although I did tweet them. It does reflect badly on them though as you do tend to associate Grand Designs ( it was that one rather than Ideal Home, although I believe they have stands at both) with high quality product and service. I do feel they should know, even more so after reading other reviews here and on trustpilot and probably will write to them. We checked reviews before we bought but at the time there weren't many and they weren't bad. I hope mine helps someone make a more informed decision. The actual suite we love but potential customers should take into account that if something goes wrong it's very difficult, stressful and time consuming to resolve.

An update on the situation, the replacement bolts finally arrived on Monday (18th April) and after a couple more phone calls we have someone coming to fit them next Monday (25th). Keeping everything crossed this is the final appointment, 7 months after ordering.

Avoid!

Glossy slick stand and sales patter at Ideal Home Show.

Not a member of Dispute or Furniture Ombudsman.

Shocking Customer Service and communication.

3 Stores but only one contact number.

Website depth of information shallow.

As it was at the IHS I expected the exhibitors to be beyond

reproach..... Purchased a display leather suite at the show which had a

22.7% discount and was marketed as a show display special.

Delivery took 33 days with 4 failed deliveries. On eventual delivery

suite was dirty, badly scuffed in over 7 areas , torn and the frame had

been physically damaged with a chunk taken out of a support strut, so

delivery was refused. I have photographic evidence.

I am now in dispute with the business: they say the suite was like

that when we saw it and agreed to buy it; I say that the suite was

perfect except for two v v picky points (the 3 seater had 2 very small

blemishes on the top right of the right (as viewed from a sitting

position) recliner footrest, and the 2 seater had a small indentation

on the left headrest).

Company refused to engage in any meaningful discussion purely

stating suite was sold as seen and that was how it was when purchased,

which was why it was so "heavily discounted". I would defy anyone with

eyes to have purchased something that expensive in that condition.

Communication was appalling with the manager accusing me on three

occasions of being untruthful. Only ever had 1 call returned; eventually

after a raft of emails with 3 cut and paste return emails all stating

the same thing and not addressing a single point made, I had to turn to

CC company and the finance company to get my refund returned.

Also wrote to the director recorded delivery (and collected) with zero response.

Experience was the complete opposite to the patter on the website.

An extremely unpleasant and stressful experience which calls into question this company's honesty and integrity.

The previous comment was slightly premature as the merchant challenged the process every step of the way although the claim has been ultimately upheld.

I have also had a veiled threat attempting to legally intimidate me concerning my review which is a factual unembellished account of my experience which I stand by.

I will leave it to you to decide if you would purchase a 4k+ suite in that condition.

BabyHuey

The final events to finish this sorry tale are that Designer Sofas tried to have this review removed with the same original assertion and no other evidence. They also challenged the CC chargeback resulting in the next level of dispute which ultimately was successful.

I eventually ordered a brand new suite exactly the same from Barker & Stonehouse. At over £700 cheaper, ordered from Italy and delivered on time with no damage it was the experience I had hoped for originally.

Just for clarity the company is Designer Sofas

Delivery Took Over 18 Weeks & Customer Service Was Terrible

We visited the Designer Sofa store in Tottenham Court Road on the 11th of January & were impressed with the range on display & the sales staff. After choosing a style, Palma in Charcoal & agreeing a price we paid a deposit & ordered the Sofa having been informed that orders were currently taking between 10 & 12 weeks to be delivered. We left feeling excited & looking forward to getting the new Sofa. We had the second payment taken from our account 1 month later and had no corespondence from Designer Sofas which I think is quite normal. After 13 weeks I decided to give them a call to find out when we could expect delivery of the Sofa & the receptionist didn't know anything about the order, casually informed me that they were looking at 14 weeks delivery times but would get a member of the Sales team to call me back. I didn't receive a call so I called back later that day only to be told the same thing. Again I din't receive a call so I sent an email, 2 days later I received an email reply saying that they were not sure how long my order would be but would be in touch. This went on for a number of weeks, with emails & various replies, it's left the factory, it's in customs, it's scheduled to be on the next lorry. I really felt that I was getting the run around & that my Sofa had not been ordered until i rang & chased although no one actually admitted to it. I could not get to speak to anyone in authority & no one actually ever apologised for the delay. I eventually as a last resort sent an email demanding that my sofa be delivered by the 30th of May otherwise i would cancel my order & seek compensation & hey presto I was contacted by the delivery company. The Sofa was then eventually delivered on the 20th of May. I must admit that the product is fantastic and we are over the moon with the quality of the leather & over all build. I still haven't ever received any type of apology for the huge delay or ever spoke to a Manager which was really disappointing considering how long we had waited & how much money we had spent with them.

Excellent Product And Great Service!

My wife and I were looking for sofas and after a long day visiting well known Department Stores and then walking up Tottenham Court Road we found Designer Sofas. The shop looked great- really fashionable and modern and we felt that virtually every sofa in there would have looked good in our house; a superb collection of sofas. Our eyes both immediately were drawn to one particular sofa suite in Black that looked amazing but we assumed it would be out of our price range. The staff were incredibly helpful - Enthusiastic and knowledgeable without being pushy in any way. Our luck was in - the sofas we loved were actually reduced as they were ex-display. We left the shop asking for time to think about it and expressing concern that they might not actually fit through our tight entrance hallway. We spoke over the phone the next day and gave them the sizes of the opening so they asked their delivery guys to call us direct to discuss before buying and it was decided that they would indeed fit in. What a relief!! The sofas were delivered within a week and I never thought I could love a sofa so much but we really have the nicest sofas I have ever seen. My enjoyment of them has no doubt been enhanced by the wonderful shopping experience. Thank you Designer Sofas - our living room now looks amazing and I would be happy to recommend this Company to other people.

I Am Really Delighted With The Quality Of Service

I am really delighted with the quality of service and products that I purchased from designer sofas. From start to finish I found all the staff very knowledgable and extremely helpful ending with me having a really stunning black leather corner unit which fits perfectly and looks amazing in my sitting room and chrome blinds which look really effective.

Originally, I had only contacted the Company after being recommended to their curtains & blinds department by my Interior Designer because I had windows which were nearly 12 feet high and no other Company would make the metal horizontal blinds that size which my Interior Designer had specified. The salesman went to great lengths to find a supplier who would make these very big blinds and fortunately he was successful and they fitted perfectly.

The fitter had told me that they also sold furniture and as I was very happy with the service so far decided to visit them to take a look at the range. I immediately fell in love with a very contemporary model and the sales girl went through all the possible configurations and colours that I could purchase.

I was a bit concerned to spend quite a lot of money from my own sizes so she suggested that she send a Designer to check all the sizes and colours for my own peace of mind. The Designer really helped me and thankfully advised me to go smaller than I had originally wanted because of the proportions of the room.

The sofas arrived a couple of weeks later than I had expected because it was coming in from Italy but once delivered it looked fantastic and fitted in perfectly. The only problem was that the feet were white and not chrome as ordered. I rang the Company who said that they were concerned and could not understand what I was talking about because my model did not come with white feet so they sent somebody round the very next day to take a look - How embaressing he got onto his knees and peeled off the 'protective' white layer to reveal the lovely chrome feet underneath - anyway we had a laugh and he was on his way.

I would happily recommend this Company to other readers because the service received throughout was excellent.

My Husband And I Had Been Looking All Over For A S

my husband and I had been looking all over for a suitable lounge suite but were fortunate to come across this Company. The prices were a little more that we wanted to spend but we really loved the look and quality of the sofa that we chose so thought it would be worth spending a little extra. I must say that I found the sales staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable about their product and felt very comfortable placing our order for my leather sofas. Unfortunately, the sofas arrived before we had finished decorating but the Delivery Company were happy to keep in storage for a few weeks until we were ready. When the sofas were delivered the Delivery men were happy to unwrap and I must say struggle to get through what is a narrow entrance but they made it and now the sofas really look fantastic. I would happily recommend this Company to other people because the service was really good from start to finish

Dodgy Company. Goes Under Name Designer Living, De

Dodgy company. Goes under name Designer Living, Designer Sofa Company, Italian Sofa.Constantly changing name.

Saw the sales guy and girls dressed up like they were going clubbing at the ideal home show. Had a terrible experience with them two years ago which still makes my blood boil. Fortunately didn't see any orders being written the day I was there and I spent quite a long time hanging around the stand talking very loudly to my husband about what an awful company they were. This is one company I would get great pleasure in seeing going under but they seem to pull of a really good stand. We have tried to complain to ideal home show but they were not too interested, obviously some relationship there as they also had a prime spot in Earls Court. I don't understand why they do this as they could be an amazing company if they delivered the correct sofa and the correct leather, we were given the wrong sofas when we got the right design it was a cheap quality leather and for certain didn't match the ridiculous price tag.

They have a store now on Tottenham Court rd, I've yet to visit.

I also had problems with this company some time ago (2010). I have no idea where they get their 4.5 star rating on this site when so many have had such an appalling experience of dealing with them.

fusionenergy

I am so sorry you ever encountered this company. I and many others have had a terrible experience with them. Unfortunately when I first wrote my review there were several others of similar and worse situations but due to them threatening legal action if the review were not removed most people took their review off. I am happy to discuss this further with you. Please get in touch.

Kind regards

Having problems with this company. Delivered faulty sofa which we did not sign for but was left on our premises. We want a refund as they have dragged their heels about fixing the sofa. They are refusing to refund. The sofa quality is also very poor considering the price paid. All we get is patronising emails from them.

Ordered Goods From Designer Living At The Ideal Ho

Ordered goods from Designer Living at the Ideal Home Show in March. Had only rough room measurements, but agreed to give a deposit on the understanding that if the sofa did not fit we would cancel the order. Also arranged 2 years interest free credit. On returning home and finding one items would not fit into the space it became clear that there was no chance that they would cancel the order, but after several days of trying to find someone who would talk to us we agreed to have the furniture modified.

However, this was the beginning of our problems. At the time of the purchase I mentioned that I had no confirmation of the interest free credit, but was told I would be contacted about this nearer the delivery time. Wrote and phoned the company on several occasions over the next few weeks about this, but was told that everything was in hand.

In June the company charged the balance to my credit card and refused to accept that we had agreed an interest free period or that we had had any previous correspondence. Fortunately I had kept copies of the e-mails and letters, but still had to threaten them with court action and secure the support of my credit card company before they would refund the charge they made.

Throughout this affair some of the staff at the company have been rude and often not available. I strongly advice that you have absolutely nothing to do with them. I feel that buying luxury items from a show stand requires an element of trust and this company has shown me little evidence that they are deserving of this for me to consider them again.

I found this a helpfull review, they are my sentiments exactly on using this company. Our dispute is still continuing! Still hoping their promises will be fulfilled before we go ahead with legal action.
