I wrote them an email concerning an item they have for sale that is from the 1960's. Wouldn't anyone have a concern buying an item 50 years old? Below is my question and their responce....copied and pasted for accuracy;
ME; I have had fragrance go bad in 10 years.....you really think its ok even though its 50 years old?

NO online customer paying with a credit card loses money. A flip of the card, a toll-free number to dial and a payment dispute resolves any financial issue with the cardholder

Worst Online Buying Experience Ever !!!
Perfume was spoiled and diluted. Delivery took much longer than promised. RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Don't risk your money, DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!!
Who the hell would complain to a "review board" after claiming to receive $150 bucks of spoiled merchandise ? Only an idiot would believe that story.
A LEGITIMATE customer would (a) return the merchandise and/or (b) dispute the credit card transaction. There is NO "risk" of money.
This is typical of a competitor's ficticious post to discredit a D&B rated "A" business that's been selling online since May, 2000.

Ordered Chaps Cologne, they sent the wrong one. When I called they said they would credit my card and pay for the return shipping. Because I did not reorder they charged me $17 restocking fee and did not refund the return shipping. I will not order any thing from them and will reccommend no one else does either.
Item was returned to us OPENED, USED and UNSALEABLE.
Should have refunded nothing but charged only a restocking fee per our published T.O.S.

I Too Wish I Had Read The Reviews Regarding Custom
I too wish I had read the reviews regarding customer experience by other customers whom had purchased from Nell Butler.com.
The customer reference number and pass code I was given by them will not allow me to track anything.
Also the tracking number I have been provided with was generated electronically, but item is yet to be dropped to USPS for shipping. USPS and Australia post have no record of item been shipped.
I too was met with snide remarks,sarcasm and nothing else but rudeness by members of there customer service.
I was also called ignorant and computer illiterate because I could not manage to track my item! Not true at all, could not track because of false information provided.
I am a resident of Australia & a current customer of Nell Butler and have no reason what so ever to write a false review about them.
They have taken my money since the 20/04/11 and now is the 01/05/11 and still have not gotten anything from them.
And if I'm not mistaken I think they have blocked my IP address as well.
I might as well kiss my $70 dollars good buy.
Please think long and hard before purchasing from this on line store.

1. Customer reference numbers and passcodes provided at time of order placement produce NO search results until the order has been shipped.
2. Credit cards are NOT charged online. They are ONLY charged when inventory has been confirmed and order is ready to ship.
3. Shipping to Australia is quoted at 14 business days. If we did charge a credit card on April 20, 2011 delivery could not be expected until at least May 4, 2011. Customer complaining because order had yet to arrive on May 1, 2011? Orders can also be held up in customs which is out of our control.
4. Any customer with a LEGITIMATE complaint need do no more than dispute the charge against their credit card. We've had NO chargebacks from Australia since we beagn shipping there 3+ years ago.
5. We expect customer DID receive order but, of course, leaves this bogus complaint sitting without adding follow up.
Oh no! I bought some perfume from them 10 days ago and haven't received any correspondence or a tracking no either. I wish I had looked into this company beforehand! Did you end up receiving your goods?

I am a positive person and emails received were "are you serious" when asked for a refund for unwrapped, opened, not boxed, stale perfume. Very unprofessional and lacking customer service skills and negative people skills.
What you see online advertising was not what I received.
I am now looking for a job in Nell Butler's recycled perfume business as I will improve the customer service dept.
Web site great, posting quick, response time fantastic, packaging super but customer service needs addressing and product physically unacceptable.

LEGITIMATE customers, not crackpots and/or competitors attempting to discredit, have recourse other than posting trash on one-sided review blogs.
Any customer asking to get refunded but expecting to keep the product because in their opinion it's "stale" deserves an "are you serious" reply. One needs to RETURN the item to get refunded.

The Product I Ordered Was Out Of Stock But I Never
The product i ordered was out of stock but i never recieved any notification of this. When i eventually inquired i was told if i had tracked my order i would have known. I thought it would have been simple courtesy to let me know because you dont start tracking orders until they are late and as this was a christmas gift an alternative couldve been sought. When i did enquire i found the emailed replies to be very rude and short. Will never use again and will strive to ensure noone i know does either. Very poor customer service.
A Christmas gift? . . . . an ALTERNATIVE gift could have been sought?
TWO MONTHS after Christmas this one decided to inquire about their order. How could one be concerned about finding a replacement Christmas gift at the end of February?

Very Poor Customer Service That Leans Toward Paran
Very poor customer service that leans toward paranoia and libel.
I ordered online early in Jan 2011 in Miami using my card billing in Nevada, a PO box with my Sister's Virginia cell phone as contact.
Instead of asking me to present more ID or other confirmation, they went off and " Notified police" along with and my mail drop manager I was breaking a law in some way, presumably has a stolen credit card.
When I returned home 2 days ago, Jan 22, 2011 to Phuket, Thailand, ( where I use a cell phone for dial up and it shows CAT Telecom , Bangkok IP ) and inquired in an email about the order, again instead of responding in a professional and curteous manner, I got an inexcusably rude retort,
"...We'll send it to Thailand, you can pick it up from the police."
Guess someone knows how to search IP's and draw mistaken conclusions and then make libelous conjectures.
The real clue this business is amateurish and unreliable is just one hour prior I had received another e mail from " Nell Butler Customer Service," responding to my query to inform me the long-time out of production perfume I did order, Nina Ricci, Fleur de Fleurs, which was on the web site as "1 bottle available," was suddenly " ..out of stock."
So liars, or incompetent? Or both?
Beware and note how all the positive reviews smell suspiciously the same

I contacted my credit card and they had a record of a decline as the wrong security code was entered. My mistake or Nell Butler's ?
assumes it is a stolen card instead of simply asking for the correct code.
She even writes the manager of my mail pick up and accuses that business of collusion in illegal activities and has " notified police"
Today's e mail from them has even more paranoid declarations.

At the same time you ordered from Ebay you ordered another from us at
DOUBLE the price . . . . on the possibility ours would be in Nevada before
the one from Ebay . . . . just waiting there for you to grab as you passed

You must have ordered that Ebay item first as when you ordered ours your

Interesting interaction. Since I'd just wasted $200 on other merchants trying to find a genuine / not rancid bottle of Bal a Versailles, I e-mailed customer service to ask if they back their merchandise, and explained my reason for asking. They responded with a very snippy e-mail, I responded, repeating my question. Received a hostile e-mail, and then discovered that they had blocked my IP address.
This is a good company to stay away from
