An Unsatisfied Customer
I TRIED TO BUY A DYNAVECTOR 10X5 CARTRIDGE FROM THEM. THEY SENT ME A DUD. I RETURNED IT. THEY MAINTAINED I HAD USED IT, DAMAGED IT AND SWAPPED SERIAL NUMBERS ON IT. ALL OF WHICH I NEVER DID. I NEVER GOT MY MONEY BACK.THEIR WEBSITE TRIED TO TAKE A PAYMENT OFF ME TWICE.AFTER ENTERING CARD DETAILS IT CAME UP'CHANGE PAYMENT METHOD'. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

Great Products, Great Price... Shame They Can't Honour It
I have never used Hifi Gear before and never will again. I found them using Google when searching for the Blok Pro-Stax 400 hifi rack, the price looked good and they were the only ones in the shopping section advertising the product. I ordered and duly paid, received the confirmation email and then an hour later they emailed saying there was a £400 shortfall on the payment but would accept £350. I bet they would, advertise one price, get the customer to buy it then an hour later double it, good business if you can get away with it.
I called them to ask why and the staff were very rude denying it at first and when I pointed out that it is a criminal offence to mislead on price they slammed the phone on me... Nice people to deal with, I don't think!!! I called back, the same guy answered and I asked why the put the phone down on me, he replied that I would have to speak with Mr Glazzard, (was he the one who put cut me off? NO) When I asked to speak to him I was simply told to look on the website for his contact details and had the phone put down on me for the second time. If I had been rude, abusive or shouting my head off then maybe I could excuse this but I hadn't, I simply asked why they had doubled the price of my chosen goods.
OK I guess pricing mistakes on websites can be made but it is how you deal with them, after all the only mistake I have made in this instance was to use Hifi Gear... A mistake that I won't make again in a hurry, I'll just have to see if I get my £399 back now!!!
they ripped me off on a cartridge.they maintained that i had used it, damaged it and swapped serial numbers on it.which i never did. never got money back for it. will never use them again

After a few emails, quickly answered with sound, clear advice - I decided on the Denon. Arrived next day as promised, 18 hours after ordering.
Service from the guys was excellent - felt like personal advice despite most of it being over email. Placed the order over the phone.

Great Service From Hifi Gear
Didn't purchase online but instead went to the actual store in Gloucester armed with some Cds.
The store is easy to get to and has a large array of equipment on display. Many of the leading mainstream and high-end brands are available in store, howeve rthe website does suggest that they can obtain much, much more.
The store appears to have 2 demonstration rooms, although I only went in to one. I'm guessing the other is a home cinema room.
The Hifi demo room is a good size and well laid out, with some acoustic treatments and a comfortable sofa to relax during the audition session.
Geoff and his colleague (sorry cannot remember his name) offered some great advice and made me feel very welcome. We tried several speaker set-ups before I made a (very difficult) final choice, in fact I spent quite a lot of time at the store on the day, but did not feel rushed one bit. They guys were great. The items I decided on were not available to take away with me (hey, you can't stock everything) so delivery was arranged to my work place. Geoff advised a delivery date and sure enough the kit arrived as arranged. Excellent communication in this time too. Will definately shop these again. 10/10.

Quick delivery, excellent telephone support for a technical glitch with regards to the Zeppelin Mini, it was resolved within an hour. Will use these guys again.

Not Substantially Cheaper Than Some Other Sources,
Not substantially cheaper than some other sources, but the website is so informative and so easy to use, the communications so good and the delivery so prompt and so efficient that it was a pleasure to deal with this firm. Even the checkout procedures are effective and highly secure. I have no criticisms to make whatsoever and would be very happy to use them again or to recommend them to anyone. They are certainly one of the best web-based firms with which I have ever dealt and many others would do well to follow their example. Top marks to a top firm!
