123av Sold Me A Stolen Tv

Hello everyone.

I have just joined this wonderfull site to tell/warn people about my experience with 123av who are an online electrical goods retailer.

The nightmare started when I saw a lg 47"3d smart tv advertised on their website for a very competitive price so I ordered one which arrived in under a week.

All was fine for 9 weeks and I was very happy with the tv until on a saturday night north wales police knocked on the door to inform me that the tv was part of 100 thousand pounds worth of tvs stolen from a truck in milton keynes and that our tv would have to be taken away immediately which it was.

Luckily the officer had been told to use discretion, and as I had proof of purchase I was not arrested.

A bit of a nightmare you may think oh no that was just the start,

I phoned 123AV the following monday to tell them what had happened and was told someone would call me back which no one did that day so called again still no call back so by wednesday and four phone calls later thinking I was doing them a favour by telling them that they had been selling stolen goods I called again to be told that 3days to return the call was expectable because british gas have a callback time of 7 days,unbelievable,as I pointed out british gas dont sell me stolen gas.

When I finaly got someone of authority on the phone he said they would not refund me because they had sold so many of these stolen tvs they could no refund all of them so if i wrote to them they would consider my claim for 90 days then let me know so I told them I would start an online campaign against their company,

and within 15 minutes they called me back to say ok we will replace it as a gesture of good will.

IT GETS WORSE.

Within 2 weeks the new tv arrived but when I unpacked it it was used, very dirty, and scratched as if it had been wiped with a oily rag to hide all the scratches,the stand was damaged to the extent that the tv leaned so far forward it would have fallen over if not supported. I sent 123AV 2 recorded letters which they denied receiving then later commented on the contents of one saying, sarcasticly, that they were sorry about the finger prints on the remote control and would contact their supplier at which point I called trading standards who have been very helpful

Trading standards persuaded them to replace the tv which was collected, then a week later they sent the same tv back to me saying it had been professionally cleaned and the scratches were my fault due to misuse,even though I only unpacked it and repacked it and will not replace it.

I have been advised by trading standards to take 123AV to small claims court which I am now going to do.

All I wanted was a new tv but what I got was just a nightmare as well as not having a tv for 6 months.

Well, Live and learn I suppose.
