No Response From Customer Service And Owner Blocked Number
Booked a property through Spain Holidays and we have booked with this owner 3 times previously and we always got the full deposit back as we are respectful of the properties. The owner is in Albir, Spain. Unfortunately due to the current global situation and the UK government guidelines about not traveling to Spain without quarantining on return, which isn't possible financially for us to do, we requested to move the dates or get a refund.
I would have expected both Spain-Holidays and the villa owners to be more flexible with the booking conditions, but no, we paid £750 deposit, suppose to get this returned after the holiday and then paid half the villa cost, 1600 Euros. He is refusing to pay us anything and says he will take the loss.....take the loss, he has taken over £2250 of our money for nothing and doesn't have the decency to refund us even the £750 deposit. It is shocking, orignally he was going to move the holiday to April 21 so we changed all our flights to then but then when we asked a question about the diffence in costs between Oct and Apr, he said we could no longer go in April and he isnt refunding us any money.
I understand everyone is struggling but to keep over 2000 pounds of peoples hard earned cash that is saved for a yearly holiday is absolutely appauling, if you look at his other villa in Albir too, you will see this isnt someone who needs to save up to have a holiday.
I have emailed Spain-Holiday twice regarding the above and they haven't bothered to even respond to me and that is a week ago. As another reviewer has mentioned, this website care about the villa owners and not the customers going on holiday.
BEWARE you don’t lose your money like is through no fault of our own.

They only care about the property owners, not the clients who actually pay everyone's wages. We had a terrible experience with one of their advertised properties: Casa Eryl, Ardales, Andalucia, Spain. ID 5780. Our holiday there was an absolute disaster, where we, a family of 4, had to access the property by walking through open sewage roadworks, leaking raw sewage; where we had only a trickle of cold water in the bathroom basin, not even enough to wash our faces; where the one toilet, once flushed, would not flush again for over half an hour - with a family of 4 it was insanitary; where we had only hot water in the kitchen, in self-catering accommodation, to prepare and cook food; and various other problems in a property that was run-down in appearance inside, and had an air of being unwelcoming, unmaintained, and uncared for.
The property had been given a good impression by the promotion photos on the website - which was not the case in reality. The photos all seem to have been taken a long time ago, with better furnishings, etc.
When we asked to discuss the above with the owners, the next morning after arrival, they became very angry and insulting and told us to leave, and refunded us. But that area of Spain, in August, is 95 - 99% booked and we couldn't find accommodation, and faced a night in the hired car, so very reluctantly had to ask to go back to Casa Eryl. They took all the two weeks booking money from us again. The property does not have parking – despite stating it does on the Spain-Holiday website. Public parking is up a hill quite far from the actual accommodation. So we struggled down the hill, went down into and through the sewage roadworks with our 5 suitcases, and into that awful place again for another night.
The next day, thankfully, we managed to find accommodation in Fuengirola. The holiday would have been an absolute disaster if we hadn’t found this alternative accommodation. But it meant we paid for two accommodations.
When we complained to Spain-Holiday on our return to the UK, and supplied photos, the customer service manager had no interest in supporting us. Indeed, she made the ludicrous mistake of muddling us up with a Finnish family who'd just stayed there before us and had written a terrible review of Casa Eryl. She said that the owners had already answered us. (We saw the Finnish family's review when we got home.) She even quoted the owners' reply to the Finnish family in her email to us. At that stage we hadn’t even written a review. It was so obvious she hadn't read our complaint properly, to make such a stupid mistake between us and the Finnish family.
When I complained to her about this, she wrote back to say she'd 'do her best to get the owners to pay the full refund we claimed'. And that there were 'now two unhappy families who'd stayed at ID 5780 this summer.'
The next email she'd completely changed again, and said we were the only people to complain in 11 years, which was totally untrue, and that the case was closed, with no refund. Thereby acting as judge and jury. We were dismissed, despite our very serious complaint about Casa Eryl.
Clients can only post a review of a Spain-Holiday property by asking Spain-Holiday to email a review link. This gives Spain-Holiday complete control over the review process. We had to ask Spain-Holiday to send us the email link because they hadn't done this. There should be a facility to review a property on their website, without the need to request a link from Spain-Holiday. Or else send out the review link automatically, if the review process is to be seen as fair - which is not the case with this system.
Conveniently for the owners and Spain-Holiday, Casa Eryl is presently taken off the Spain-Holiday website, so that the bad reviews from the Finnish family and ourselves cannot be seen. We are sure that, when the property comes back on their website, our bad reviews will not be there.
The owners, according to the customer service manager, refused to refund us our booking costs for the accommodation because we didn't tell them we'd left again. We didn’t ring the owners, to say we’d left, because they’d rudely said “No more phone calls” when we went back to Casa Eryl, and we couldn’t bear to hear any more rudeness and insults. They’d already utterly ruined the start of our holiday. No apologies from the owners and no refund (and a big debt for alternative accommodation) – well done, Spain-Holiday.

Villa Pico Del Puig,rosales.
We stayed at this villa from the 4th - 18th September.we met the rep with the keys and she told us that she was taking photo of electric meter and would also take photo of meter when we left.we were later informed that we were being charged 35euros for use of electric.i have never been charged before.when we were inspecting amenities we found that there was no iron or ironing board.we were told that in 8 years no one has ever asked for an iron.l find that hard to believe.also there is no microwave which I feel should be there in a so called fully equipped kitchen.then there is the outside cooking area which looks very nice but when it rains which it did quite heavily while we were there, all the furniture got soaked where the roof is leaking very badly.when we phoned the Rep she was having none of it so we left all the flakes of paint and plaster on the floor so when she collected the keys she couldn't deny it but said that the owner was waiting for the insurance company to settle so he could repair it.also the fuses kept tripping for no reason.the washing line is so badly broken that the line has a "thousand "knots in it and the frame kept collapsing .the mop is useless as there is nothing on the top of the bucket to wring the mop out.if you are English then forget the television.99% foreign channels.you need a degree in I.T to work it.if you are a bit wobbly on your legs there are17 steps from gate to front door.we were charged 20 euros per person for linen but only had 1 set for 2 weeks.on day of leaving we cleaned the villa and left it spotless and even washed the towels.when we smuggly showed the rep how clean it was she replied "I've seen worse".very rude.and finally it took me a day over the 2 week time scale to get my deposit back but in fairness after a week and half I did send them wrong bicc code but did quickly correct that.but still had to wait a few more days for my money.would I recommend this villa to anyone?the answer is a big no.

Disgusted
We had an absolutely awful experience with the company. If it wasn't for my own research we would have arrived at the villa which has been sold and nowhere to stay. We had no notification of the cancellation, no refund. Just me trying to contact the lady who listed the property who seems to have gone AWOL! We would have arrived with 4 children and have been stranded! We booked it July 2017. The company states they only booked directly with the owners, this is false. I had a rep who worked for the owners who now I cannot contact. The money is not held by the website as also stated. I'm in total shock by the whole thing and still yet to get my money back, which looks highly unlikely.

Casa Lobo Salobrena September 2017 Most of the brochure pictures are 5 to 7 years old Pictures show the pool with Blue tiles around the top however these have been removed and now the pool top is just a blue Gel coat finish, made evident by the gel coat paint on some of the pathways and in places on the bottom of the pool, and two different pictures in the brochure / web page. The fish farm in the sea changed years ago. The steps out of the pool were obviously made for a shallower pool as it was a difficult operation to reach the first step. This is not good for OAPs with conditions, and I doubt that it would be good for children. No safety fences were fitted around the pool. The pool loungers were a complete joke they are filthy and were only used by a cat that slept on them, They were very dirty and covered in cat hairs, we would never have used them in that state We were informed in the paperwork AFTER we arrived that you could not use the bathroom towels, no pool towels were provided. It would have been nice to have been informed before we left home. We had to go to a hypermarket to buy pool towels, a disgrace for a so called LUXURY villa. The whole area around the loungers was covered in leaves and debris. I had to sweep the area myself. I tried the pool and surrounding lights on one occasion but I could not get them to light. The general paintwork outside was dirty, the window surrounds were rotting in fact the whole outside needed a fettle up to approach luxury villa standards When we arrived the pool was dirty and full of leaves However we had booked from the Wednesday housekeeping knew we were coming, this should have been sorted for the start of our rental period , I should not have had to ring them and get the pool man round, In all we lost a day and a half of not being able to use the pool in a fit state, By the way in my opinion I would doubt that this pool would pass safety regulations for not just adults but mainly for children. That there were no smoke detectors, no carbon dioxide detectors, anywhere in a rental home, amazed me! Fruit from the trees were all over rotting, a good source of food for the abundant rodents that were about at night in the garden below, and evident by the rodent boxes around the lower gardens. A leak by the bathroom window was a smelly mess which maybe was something to do with the water in the shower taking ages to run away. Ok I could have rung the housekeeper. but why should we have workmen in there when we are on holiday when a problem with the shower was evident by the 12 inch squeegee left there to clear the resulting pool in the shower tray. No starter pack was provided, No spare toilet rolls, No soaps or toiletries there were only odd jars of half used items but no milk, bread, water, which you would expect in a luxury rental. The cooker instructions were for another model, The whole inside of the cooker was a disgrace, If It had not been for the use of aluminium foil it would never have been used by us .If you put bread (Wait for it into a BREAD bin) it was covered in ants. The things were all over the worktops. Not nice .The toaster was rusty. Everything in the bins were wrapped and taken out on a regular basis but we never saw evidence of ant’s in there, so the problem has something to do with a worktop or holes behind them. The crockery, Knives forks, spoons etc. were all dirty and chipped so we selected the better ones to use and used only them all week There were no DVDs provided, not much English material at all .Even the SMART OLD TV did not have any English stations or a USB to plug in a stick to watch Films in an evening. Good job we took some CDs to play. They take the English man’s money yet you don’t provide for him. They just advertise on German, Dutch, Swiss Web sites and provide for them. We tried at one time to move the coffee table nearer the settee and the legs fell off! Good job the glass top did not break or we might have been charged for that! The brochure says Queen/king size bed in the master bedroom, yet it had two single beds pushed together, not even joined. This was not the SPECIAL experience for my wife’s 70th birthday we were expecting! We are very disappointed to say the very least. In our opinion this is a true and honest review of this villa. All these problems can be backed up with pictures if required.

Price Rise Of 44% For Current Advertisers!
As a property owner who has advertised with Spain-Holiday.com for over 6 years, I was getting a discount from them. They have decided up raise the price of advertising and stop giving discounts for renewals. When you take away the renewal discount and add in the increase, the price is going to rise by a whooping 44% for anyone advertising 4 or less properties.
Their customer service team came across as completely arrogant when I contacted them about this. No can do attitude!
In my opinion, this would fine if they were giving an improved service, but they are giving nothing extra for this money.
I advertise with other websites also. From my experience, Spain-Holiday.com is fine if you are looking to rent your property out in the peak season. If however you are looking for bookings all year round, they perform abysmally. They also do not include any kind of booking management software where as their main competitors do.
Looks like Spain-Holiday.com are about to out price themselves out of the market.
Their competitors are a little dearer (about €50 now) but their service is better, offering all year round bookings and a booking management system among other extras. And, most importantly, their competitors customer services are a much friendlier bunch and easier to deal with.

Spain-holiday.com....don Not Book Thru Them!!!!
The service i have recieved from your company is SHOCKING and i would warn people against using spain-holiday.com. I booked a weekend break with yourselves for the end of July and ended up dealing with Alex. The night before we were due to depart the UK i had an email from Alex to say the aprtment i had booked was not available as the people in it had decided to extend their holiday. We were offered 2 smaller apartments or a full refund. I had already spent £1800 on flights for the people in the party so of course a refund was NOT an option. I had not choice but to take the alternative accommodation, which was not suitable. As you can imagine i was extremely upset by this. When we returned home i contacted Alex and i asked he compensate me for the terrible service. I have still NOT recieved any compensation. ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL SERVICE!!!!
The (name removed) you booked with had only his property on spain-holidays web page. It is home owners who buy a link so they can rent their property out.
Yes I totally agree its disgracefully behavior while I will not use the term service in what you have been thru. But I also find it very important to clear up the misunderstanding about you thinking its spain holidays fault. I have since 2008 rented my apartment out. I have rented full house every year and always had support from the company spain holiday if I need it. I think you should mail them and tell them about this while maybe should not be on the web spain-holidays because he gives us all a bad name. Sorry for what you went thrue it must have been bad.
kind regards a happy landlord who tries to make my guest holiday the best.

As A Property Owner In Costa Del Sol, I Must Say T
As a property owner in Costa del Sol, I must say that the last 5 years advertising my property through spain-holidays.com have been a great benefit for me. They give me a great number of enquiries interested in renting my apartment. I also think as a holiday seeker who wants to find a holiday home in spain the website has an extraordinary easy-to-use navigation and it has plenty of travel information and suggestions for a holiday in Spain.
Q&A
Are they a trustworthy site? Are we safe booking through them please?
Hi,
I have advertised my properties through spain-holidays for almost 10 years now. I have also booked an apartment through them. They are perfectly fine to use but you are booking directly with the owner of the property not Spain Holidays.
As with all these holiday letting sites, what you have to ensure is that you are actually dealing with the owner of the property. There has been problems where somebody takes control of the property owners e-mail account and intercepts emails without the property owners knowledge. They will then pretend to be the owner of the property and you could end up paying for a property that is not booked for you.
The way that you make sure this doesn't happen is only look at properties with owner's phone number listed on the advert. Before you send any money, call the owner using the phone number on the spain-holiday advert and confirm that this is who you have been dealing with via e-mail.
All should be fine then. Spain Holiday appear to work hard at making sure that their system is secure.
