I Had A Website Designed And Built By This Company
I had a website designed and built by this company in the summer of 2009. Leaving aside the strained relations with my initial project manager, the finished product was exactly what I wanted. The attention to detail and the help I received from my final project manager could not be faulted, nor could the willingness to put right the odd bug be criticised. I am sorry to see the company fall by the wayside.

These companies went into liquidation on the 25th May 2010 with debt, leaving many companies who have paid upfront for their sites to be developed out of pocket. This morning the message below was posted on the Black Widow Internet site and there for all to see if you clicked the following URL http://www.blackwidowinternet.com/. However, later today the message was shortened and changed only to include Black Widow Internets appointed liquidators details M/s Parkin S Booth and Co.
We the group thought it would be only right to for you the public and interested parties to know the real reason behind the demise of Black Widow Internet AKA Crystal Clear Digital / Global Solutions AKA Digispike.
It's interesting that Scott Smith seems to want to blame everyone else expect himself and his partner Richard Short for this demise.
In his statement below Scott blames ex-employees and a group of people spreading malicious lies that has resulted in affecting his cash flow and ultimately his company.
It's quite simple, if you provide a good service where you deliver what you say you will when you take someone's money up front then you don't end up having to liquidate your company in a hurry to get rid of people chasing you for their deposits back. This is exactly what has happened to Scott Smith where his companies are concerned.
How is it that Black Widow Internet AKA Crystal Clear Digital/Global Solutions have over 42 documented cases of ripping or conning innocent people and their businesses by promising to deliver websites and then taking monies upfront only to then use delay tactics which last years.
These innocent victims get fed up and go elsewhere and many of us had to pay again to have our sites up and running through other web developers.
What's even worse is despite taking fifty percent of your project fees upfront they then have the audacity to ask for the remaining fifty percent having delivered zero. In some cases where they have delivered sites the sites are riddled with bugs and don't function properly.
Many who have been bitten by Black Widow experience almost identical problems such as a string of project managers and lack of continuity. Many victims don't even have a site completed to their original brief. Yet, Scott proclaims that he has won two cases in court. We the group can confirm otherwise.
Further he speaks of being investigated and having been cleared by Trading Standards. This is really interesting as Trading Standards have advised us otherwise.
All we can say is that Scott Smith and Richard Short are excellent at selling and use powerful reassuring techniques to make you part with your money.
As one victim's says be careful if you shake Scott Smiths hand as you may find that you are short a few fingers.
We the Victims Support Group will fight tooth and claw to seek justice for all the innocent businesses that have been conned by Black Widow Internet, Scott Smith and Richard Short.

By calling the liquidators Scott Smith and Richard Short are simply planning to get out of this without reimbursing what they have taken from these victim businesses.
Ofcourse we have a very strong plan of action and we will work together through the legal system and governing bodies to see that these two serial con artists are never allowed to set up another business and trade again under new name only to carry out a replica con as they have with Black Widow Internet .

Again we the Group would like to stress that ex-employee's have not caused the demise of Black Widow or their group of companies. 'If you are as good as you say you are Scott then why would any of your customers have to complain or leave your services to use other people'.
Secondly, the ex-employee story is just a red herring as it's pretty obvious that if you keep up a con too long you will get burnt by it. Over Forty Two documented cases of people being conned in exactly the same way can't be imagined or down to ex employees.
It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that Crystal Clear Digital Solutions Limited (previously Crystal Clear Global Solutions Limited) and its brands: Black Widow Internet / DigiSpike have now ceased trading and will be liquidated on the 25th May 2010.

How did this happen ?
We realise that many clients will want to know why this has happened so we have outlined the series of events that lead to the end of the company below.
A major role in the company was the ?account manager? position. This position was designed to be a concierge type of service between the client and various departments such as coders, visuals, animators etc. This role structure proved very successful however in October 2009, three account managers left our company and we later discovered that they had set up their own limited company whilst working with us some months prior.
Two of the account managers that formed the new company then started to telephone a lot of our clients telling lies about the company and its affairs and trying to tempt them to leave us and join their company. At this point we started to receive a lot of negative posts online from old and existing clients who had been managed by the ex-employees and a group was formed online, which we believe are being lead by these ex-account managers to discredit us and cause worry for existing clients so they are more likely to leave us and join their company.
This ?dirty tricks group? includes two past clients that we went to court with and a court of law ruled in our favour yet they are online trying to state we were a fraudulent company. Another member in the group informed trading standards that we have no staff and never had any intention of building a website, ie we simply took the deposits. Trading standards rightfully visited us where they were welcomed in and we spent several hours discussing how we ran our business and showed them sign off files and other important documents on members of the dirty tricks group. Trading standards left our offices very happy with how we ran our business and also offered us some great advice in dealing with these people.
We tried to make contact with the group on several occasions however they were not interested in trying to resolve any issues, if indeed there were any real issues with these people. Multiple requests for them to contact us with their project, list of issues were never replied to and as of this day we have received nothing at all from the group despite their continuous efforts in posting negative reviews online.
We also have multiple evidence, that the police are dealing with, that shows the ex-employees stole data from our offices that includes our clients contact details database (which the data protection agency are now involved in as this is an offense under section 55 of the data protection act)which has and is still being used to try to gain business and the dirty tricks group are also using this database to try and gain further ?recruits?.
The ex-employees also called clients who owe the final 50%, offering to do the work cheaper and we believe on some occasions also provide them with a copy of the code built by ourselves as a number of websites that we have not given out to the client are now live on the internet, and every line of code is the same. The ex-employees were the account managers of these clients and the clients will not communicate with us regarding their final outstanding bills.
We are well aware of most of the members in the group and we would like to thank those clients who have been contacted by the group who have and still are, helping us with the criminal investigation side of this situation with the Cheshire police. If you have any information that may help us please let us know, we would be most grateful.
Because of the above, the company?s cash flow ground to a halt as new business could not be gained due to lies on the internet and final 50%?s were reduced because of the actions of these people. The directors downsized the company several times in a big to reduce costs to enable their only remaining focus to succeed, which was to complete the remaining legitimate client?s websites so the actions of these people did not negatively affect innocent clients.
We know that several people will be very happy that they have managed to destroy the company with no remorse over the damage they have caused to innocent clients who will have been greatly affected by this situation.
To those that set out to destroy us, well done, you won, you must be very proud. We hope you can sleep at night.
To everyone else, we would like to send our heartfelt apologies for this situation. There was nothing more we could humanely do to save the company and to help everyone that was going to be affected by this. We tried every strategy we could to avoid any single client being negatively affected by this, yet those involved in killing the company were relentless and we ultimately lost the battle.
The company will go into liquidation on the 25th May 2010. All correspondents must be dealt with via the appointed liquidators below:

I wish i had never heard of them, the woo you with sales talk, take your money and eventually, (9 months late in my case) deliver a tacky, botched site that doesn't work properly for another year. Incapable is an understatement. I wouldn't reccommend them to my worst enemies never mind a friend. STAY AWAY!

Well, I wish I had read these reviews before embarking down the road of using Black Widow Internet for my web development project. We started with them in Jan 2009 and we are now April 2010 and they have not yet finished a project that should have only taken MAX 6 months between our designers and their developers. They have now taken £2500 at least from us and now we cannot contact them about the service that they are supposed to be supplying to us the client. Customer service so far has been despicable and now their phones are saying that they are receiving a large call volume! Rubbish, they are avoiding their customers! They have not replied to my calls or emails, It's obvious with the test website that I saw that they had farmed the work out to India and that they were raking the money in and doing little work themselves. I am now going to seek legal advice as they have broken the terms of their contract, and I cannot afford to loose the money never mind the time they have caused me to loose! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE CON MEN! They should be barred from business and charged with fraudulent activity!

In November 2007 after being awarded a business grant from a local enterprise Business start & Go.I found Black Widow Internet, who I found off approved web designers.com and I contacted them about building my digital publishing web site and was given a quote and a brief of what they could do for me.
I decided to go ahead with this company, and they was paid £2000 to start. The project was going to be in total £3080 in all and would take around 90 days to complete according to the brief. The design stage took longer than expected as I was not happy with some of the designs done, but it was finally completed and the development stage was started. It was said that the website would be complete in March 2008 which in that time I was awarded a business loan from the princes trust. The conditions of this loan were when the website was complete that the first tranche of money whatever was outstanding would be released to me to pay. In March, they wrote a letter stating that it would be finished at a specific date.
There was apparently some issues and this caused the website to not be ready in march. In April when the website was said to have been finished. I was asked to sign off and make final payment, it was then I refused as I hadn't been able to access the website. They then gave me log in details in order to access the website which I was still unable to see the site fully. However, I discovered that the subscription feature was totally missing, I told them about this, and they said I did not include this in my brief and I would have to pay extra to have this feature added. Even though I had it written in my brief and showed them, still they refused to add this feature, unless I paid more so I agreed to pay extra for this feature as I had waited long enough.
It then took months for this feature to be added in this time I had constantly been emailing and calling Black widow to find out why it was taking so long, I also had gotten my Princes Trust mentor to speak to them at this point to find out what was the delay as they started to ignore me. In this time, I also made the first complaint to the director of the company this complaint was ignored.
Around July-August they said they had finished the site, and again I should sign off the project and pay the final outstanding balance, again I refused because I had not seen the website fully to say all features was added and I was pleased with it. This is then when I received the invoices asking for final payment and the email about taking court proceedings against me. I paid the final amount but was still not given the website as I had not signed it off due to the fact that I could not see how it functioned. Furthermore, as I had seen it was still not complete. I sent several emails stating the changes I wanted done and to date this has still not been done.
I was passed around to 3 different account managers who I had to explain what it was I wanted the site to do as they hadn't bothered to check my brief to see what my requirements was. I was told that I didn't ask for these features and after demanding and persisting that I did and had it in the briefs they sent over they said that they had included it and that I didn't know how to use the site correctly and that could have been the cause.
In the end after waiting for so long I decided I wanted to just get another company to finish the site which is when I discovered the site had been poorly built and was unusable.
It has been now nearly 2 years and after giving up, I asked for them to just give me the site as it so I could complete the changes elsewhere. I was sent this on a disk and I was asked to sign off to say I was happy before I could receive this. I have been to various different web developers asking if they would be able to apply the changes I wanted done to the site and to have it at a decent state in which I could use it. However. I was told the site was poorly built, and I would be better to start again due to the amount of work it would take to fix this.
Due to the time Black Widow took to get to this stage the Prince's trust is no longer willing to give me the rest of the money I was awarded. I have no website, lost all the money that I made such a great effort to gain and absolutely in pieces after my experience with this company. All though all this i felt they had a "I don't care" attitude.

Black Widow Internet (or sometimes Crystal Clear Global Solutions) gave me over one year of complete and utter stress, the worst customer service I have ever experienced and at the end of it all a website that didn't work very well.I have to say, even thinking about this company now to write this review makes me angry. There is so much to say about Black Widow Internet and how badly I was treated by them as a customer but I will try and break it down into the main points.1) I was assigned an 'account manager' who throughout the process had no idea about my actual project and simply tried to tell me how good the company was but never actually knew anything about my specific project (probably because, as I found out later, they outsource their work to India - 2) I was quoted £5000 for a 'high-spec' social networking website but was instead given a template based, badly coded, nonfunctioning, ugly site.3) I was told on the quote that the completion of the site would take 3 months. It took over a year! Weeks and weeks of nothing happening!4) My 'account manager' advised me about 2 months into the project to sign up for my server ready to place the website on...he recommended a company to me where I would have to pay around £300 a month (his recommended package). I asked him if this meant the website would be finished very soon as I didn't want to be paying monthly fees for a server with no website on it. He assured that was nearly finished (however refused to show me the progress). I actually decided myself to hold back on getting the server at that point and glad I did or else I would have lost about £3200 in server fees with no website on it!5) It sometimes took weeks for my 'account manager' to get back to me about questions or concerns I had and when he did finally get back to me (after many reminders from me) he would ignore my questions. It was so frustrating. 6) When I was finally given the 'finished' website it was simply an ugly template page with hyper links (I was quoted for a fully designed website and all they did was use text hyprlinks for my 'beautiful' members area!) o, in the end I complained and finally got the boss of the company to admit that it looked terrible and for £5000 I should be getting a lot more and I had to send some designs over to them...even though I had paid them to do it!7) Now this point sometimes makes me want to laugh and sometimes makes me want to cry! One of the features I asked for and was included in the quote was a podcast directory. When I was presented with it, it was nothing but a list of mp3s (i.e. no RSS feed, podcast info, link to iTunes etc...everything that a podcast is). I informed them that what they had done was not a podcast directory and they said it was. We spent weeks arguing about it and my account manager told me that they would not change it as they had done what I had asked for. So, eventually I found a detailed article on the web explaining what a podcast is (i.e it has a special type of coding that allows descriptions and titles and chapters to be added etc) and finally they agreed to change it...but not without constantly telling me that they are giving me thousands of pounds worth of free stuff...even though they should have done it in the first place!I need to stop writing because I'm getting angry!
I am now £5000 in debt, have taken my website offline because people were complaining about its bad functionality (and I have already had to pay someone else to fix a lot of problems and I can't afford more) and am left with angry feelings towards this company still after a good few years...and they have not apologized to me even though the boss of the company himself admitted the website was terrible!Anyway, do your research and also be weary of how much they talk about their 'google certificates'...it seems this is all they know what to talk about.
