Summary

"The Softline operates purely through the hydraulic pressure of the incoming water whether it comes from the mains or from a well. The Softline has no motors and no wires, they just do not need them.

The Softline water softener has been specifically designed for use in the average UK home. It is small and compact, taking little valuable kitchen cupboard space. At only 484mm high it will sit comfortably in a standard kitchen unit."

“Good Water Softener, But….”

★★★★☆

written by on 15/02/2014

I agree with everything the other reviews said but I do not think the top of this softener is adequate. Every time I check the salt or put more in I have to take the top right off. Fine if it fits properly but as yet I have never been able to make the top fit as it should, there are always gaps in the side etc, and I am left fiddling about trying to get the thing to fit properly, but to no avail! Is it just me, although my Husband had no better luck than me. Other than this the softener is great.

I suspect the inside part is not sitting properly.

Call us on the technical helpline and we can have a look for you.

If I bought a scalemaster softlink 150 water softener, how much should I expect to pay for fitting, and could you recommend a qualified plumber? I live in St Ives Cambridgeshire.

I am getting a yellow gritty residue in the soften water. What could this be?

We have recently bought a house with Scalemaster 150 installed. However I can't understand when to refill the salt and in which part. Can anyone help?

The salt cabinet is divided into 2 parts, one has the valve and vessel in (the main working parts) the other half is where the salt goes. I would recommend filling about 3/4 with salt. Depending on your water usage you'll top it up once a month. If you go to our Facebook page at ScalemasterH2O there are pictures of the 150, if you're still not sure phone and you'll get me and I can talk you through it. Regards

I have had this for approx 5 years.  Problem: at the end of the cycle - the scale master just keeps pumping water via the overflow pipe and wastes a lot of water until I manually finish the cycle by hand with the Allen key. This has become a very frequent problem and occurs approx 2 times a week sometimes more sometimes less. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello - It sounds like you have a pressure drop issue. The Softline 150 relies on water pressure to operate it properly, if there is a pressure drop while the softener regenerates it may cause this. If you contact me I can explain fully how we can sort this out for you.

I have had this for a couple of years and frankly the limescale is just as bad especially on stainless steel surfaces. What maintenance do I need to perform as I am unwilling to pay £95 for a so called service?

Hi-Your softener will be covered by the 5 year Parts and Labour warranty so if there is a problem with the softener you just need to call our technical helpline and we will come out, usually within 10 working days, at a time that is convenient and sort the problem out, there will be no charge for this. The £95.00 service charge you mention only applies for non warranty calls, such as installation errors or other issues outside of the warranty. We do offer an annual service on softener after the warranty has run out and this does cost £95.00 but gives you an extra 12 months warranty included in the price. I hope this helps, if you need more information please contact the technical helpline number, it will be myself you speak to and I'll do my best to help. Regards National Sales & Marketing Manager
