In September 2012 we purchased a John Lewis JLWM1605 washing machine and fortunately, it came with a 3 year warranty as, after just 15 months it went wrong. The engineers decided it needed 2 new PCB’s and told us the parts will be in in a couple of days. That was January the 7th. The machine was finally repaired on the 29th after I made several calls to John Lewis to try and speed thing up. Over 3 weeks is far to long to wait for a simple repair but it seems nobody keeps parts in stock for these machines. In fairness, John Lewis have offered some compensation but, after 7 trips to the laundrette, mileage (8 mile round trip) and car parking, we are still well out of pocket. Unbelievably, whilst waiting for the parts for this machine, out John Lewis tumble dryer packed up. We are still waiting for that to be repaired. During the course of all these visits by various engineers, one of them said “you are better off buying the cheapest machine you can get and then dump it when it goes wrong as they are all the same” As a company, I cannot fault John Lewis but, I would never buy anything that is their own brand again.
