From Happy To Sad.

I bought a hotpoint aqualtis 11kg washing machine about 5 weeks ago and up until today could not have been happier with it. Lovely big drum and very quiet, it tells you what program its on, temp, spin and how long. Its cut down the amount of loads i do and i can wash big bed throws as well so i was over the moon.

Today I put my washing in and wanted to change the program, you can turn the dial either way to select a program but today turning it clockwise, nothing, the program didn't change and there was no click as there normally is but it did change if I turned it ant clockwise. After that load I tried it again but now it doesn't click either way and I am stuck on one type of wash.

I have rang and they said they will order a new dial but they are out of stock at the moment so I have to wait. I don't think it can be just the dial its whats going on behind the dial surely, I did ask if this is a common fault but they said no. It's a brand new machine and I will not be happy if I have lots of problems as they are twice the price of a normal machine.

Failed After 3 Weeks.

Looks great, love the large load capacity and the choice of programmes and Eco options is good. However after 3 weeks it is stuck on one programme as the selector dial no longer works- feels like something has come loose behind the control panel.

On calling customer service it appears that Hotpoint/ Indesit/ Creda(who are all owned by the same) are all functioning in the 1950s as they think women can wait in all day for a repair man Mon to Fri and offer no weekend or out of hour cover. On pointing out that, like a lot of females in the 21st century, I am not in the house all week they managed to narrow it down to one afternoon at the end of the week. I am still going to lose half a days pay because they can'tmake a product that last a month. Thanks Hotpoint.

In addition, the customer service unwisely decided that this was the ideal moment to try to sell me an extended warranty at £6 a month to cover up to year 2. I pointed out a washing machine that doesn't last 2 years is not fit for purpose and any mechanical failure during that time should be covered any way.

I have since read other Aqualtis reviews and would reconsider before buying this again.

Would very much like to know how you got on as I have just ordered one of these machines and all of the 17 reviews on the product was positive however since ordering I have come across a few people who have experienced the same issue as yourselves and therefore I am also wondering whether to go back and add on the £67 for the 3 year labour only warranty extension - I am under the impression that the machine comes with a 5 year parts only warranty when purchased.

Please post what the outcome was please so I know what to expect when I finally get someone out.

Thanks.
