The Others (12)

The Others was an exciting movie. We people fear ghosts, but never thought that actually ghosts fear us.

Only recently have I compared this movie to The Sixth Sense, in terms of the plot twist and surprise ending. Despite the uncanny similarity, this film in and of itself is worth watching. The story details the life of an overprotective mother (Nicole Kidman) and her two children in this antiquated English home in a rather bleak setting during one of the World Wars. If you're one for high action and non-stop excitement in thrillers, this is not going to be your favourite film, you may just find it boring. However, if you're patient enough, you'll find this film rather interesting and enjoyable. Not one of best favourites but it still has enough to make me say "hmm..." at the end. A worthwhile film, interesting plot twists and intriguing ending.

I don't agree with the review comment about The Others. I thought the movie was great, and although I saw Sixth Sense I still found this movie good. It kept all of us in suspense as we did not read anything about the movie. I also like how this movie gets the audience involved.

The Others stars Nicole Kidman who plays Grace the religious mother of 2 sick children. The children's light sensitive illness make them housebound in a Victorian mansion that they start to believe is haunted, what's more is that all windows have to be blacked out and the only light is from candles. Full of strange twists and spooky happenings that will make your hair stand on end. Recommended!

If you have seen The Sixth Sense then you will know the storyline before the movie ends. This movie could have been a lot more scary but it just failed. Nicole Kidman did not get into character and was poorly cast. I took my 8-1/2 year old daughter to see this movie with me and there was only one scene when she got frightened, but the entire cinema audience did too. We all jumped. Other than that the film was a let-down. Too predictable and poorly acted.

Wait until it comes out on video.
