Day Of Defeat Is The War That Took Place In Europe

Day of Defeat is the war that took place in Europe, not Asia or Africa. That leaves out the Russians and the Japanese. Secondly, the Canadians were pretty well British. The comments about pilots and navy, if you have noticed, there are no other military sections in the game except for infantry. On the map caen, it wouldn't make much sense to add a little badge saying "Canadian" having it on the soldiers' sholders. Don't get me wrong, Canadians did do a lot, but as far as the game goes, it focuses on the Americans vs the Germans. Why aren't you guys complaing for the resistance forces, there were a lot of those. What about the poor Italians?

I think the game is good as it is. We're not playing the game because, "Oh look. I can be Canadian". You play the game because you use mind, skills, and teamplay to get the job done. You're not supposed to sit around looking at each others' uniforms saying "Oh look, new boots". No. Now, I think you guys were unfair with the rating you gave. The maps are far better than any battlefield map. I actually believe I'm fighting for something when playing DoD, cause the maps are basicly all cities. Who wants to play open warfare, when you can set up defences or assault a building. Far better then running for 5 mins to find a tank killing your butt and doing it over and over again.

This Game I Bought By Mistake, I Had Somehow Thoug

This game I bought by mistake, I had somehow thought that it was Call of Duty, but when I got home had it installed and was ready to play it I noticed it said Day of Defeat, dam. But when I hooked up to the internet and joined a game, the game really wasnt that bad, it was quite fun. The first question I had about this game was. Was it released recently? Because the graphics aren't exactly cutting edge, and the sound isnt that great either, but the fun in this game definitly fills in for it. Day of Defeat is a multiplayer game only pitting the Axis verses the Allies in World War 2, they have real guns used such as the M-1 Garand, the B.A.R. , the thompson (that is one advantage over Battlefield 1942, where is the Thompson EA games?). Some battles include destroying Flak Guns on Omaha Beach, Taking control of a forest, Protecting trucks against the axis, and defending and attacking a bridge (this level is quite like the movie Saving Private Ryan). The makers of Half-Life originally released this as a mod, but later tried to make some money on it starting stacking them on store shelves, for the price it isnt that bad, so if you have any extra money (as in extra) at Wal-Mart or a game store buy it if your into multiplayer World War 2 games.

It Is A Shame That The Canadians Were Omitted In T

It is a shame that the Canadians were omitted in The Day Of Defeat. The Canadian beach head on June 6th 1944 was called Juno Beach. All three Canadian services shared in the assault. Fourteen thousand Canadians landed on Juno the first day.

On August 19th 1942 5,000 Canadians were in the Dieppe Raid. Out of the 5,000 whom landed on that day 2.210 returned to England. Many of these men were wounded. There were 3,367 casualties, including 1,946 prisoners of war, 907 Canadians lost their lives. This country served in Sicly, Italy, Burma, India, Hong Kong, France, Holland and all over the world. I hope you are listening. Keith T. Picard

Sorry, Operation Torch which were the American landings after the main battles for El Alamain and Torbruk were a near disaster for the U.S. troops and they needed major retraining before they were fit for the landings in Italy, etc... basically, at the start of the U.S. involvemnt in the war in Europe, they needed a lot of help from the people who had alredy been fighting the war for almost 4 years.

However, the commitment from the free French, the Dutch underground, the Polish (particularly in the uprising in Warsaw) and so on was far greater than that of the Americans who were making in a tidy buck sending over equipment and so forth that the Brits, French and Canadians are still paying for. Now, I am not detracting the sacrifice the U.S. solders made in the latter part of the war, but the point is they did not do it alone and there had been an awful lot of hardship before they joined up. This is rarely recognised by any of the big media houses in the U.S., Hollywood, EA games and whatever.

Actually the US also fought Rommel in North Africa, and with the combined efforts of the Brits managed to push him out of Africa all together.

Yes and we may had china who lost 2 million men in the war vs japan in WW2.

Chris123

Let me make a correction. The mayjor players were Britan, Russia, Japan, Germany, Canada, and USA (not in any particular order).

Chris123

The only thing that the USA did was fight Japan, the USA didn\'t even join until Pearl Harbour was destroyed. They defended a few islands and dropped a few nukes and badda bing badda boom they took credit for winning the war. The major players in the war were Britan, Germany, Canada, Russia, and Italy. Sure the US gave the winning blow but thats about it.

I've Played Many Pc Games Over The Years, Some Wer

I've played many PC games over the years, some were good and some were o.k. But Sierra Day of Defeat Beat 2 game tops them all! You have classes where you choose from. You could choose to be on the Allies side, or the Axis (German) side. You could be a seargeant, armed with the M1 Carbine,..or even the cool lone wolf sniper, armed with his trusty .03 Springfeild Rifle.

This game is the best of all first-person shooter games out there. It's a conversion of the popular game Half-Life, and Counter-Strike. Other two great titles as well. So check it out, and enjoy!!!!
