Acoustic Solutions DVD-651

The Acoustic Solutions DVD-651 is Poor performance and a complete waste of time. (See Bad Points)

I bought this Acoustic Solutions DVD player from the Chester branch of Richer Sounds about a month ago. Since, I have watched about 5 DVDs numerous times and they all play supremely. The remote does not pick up unless you point it straight at the sensor, but that is only minor. The ability to play MP3, SVCD, CDR/W, DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW is great, and the 5.1 made me buy this DVD player. The same specification Sony was £80, and this one was £30. Great buy!

Started off with the 551 which quickly started to skip pieces of film , returned to Richer Sounds who updated it to a Acoustic Solutions 651, this worked well for about 11 months then also started to skip/freeze random bits of film , this was replaced by brand new 651 (bloody good service from Richer Sounds), all seemed to be O.K until I tried it with some different films ,one a multi which when loaded the screen flickered up and down then on another DVD-r it completely missed pieces of film out , I'm talking 10 secs of film at a time without even freezing .Now I here most people saying rubbish films but all were checked for errors and speed graphs on a PC and disks were O.K . Both films worked in 2 PS2's an Xbox , another DVD (Pacific 1002) and in the PC and none of them had the same problem .So unless I've been extremely unlucky they seem to suffer in the quality of parts .I'm not a heavy user so nothing was worn up .And as picked up in one of the other reports the remote is near to useless , if sitting/laying about 2.5 mtrs away it struggles to work if the smallest object (waste paper basket made of wicker )is in your way .

The Acoustic Solutions 651 is an excellent DVD Player... Macrovision can be turned off and its easy to switch the Region Codes to all, with a simple Remote Control Key Seq..

Plays DVD very Good, Even DVD Back ups !..

A REAL BARGIN

Much better then my old Cyberhome ADL-528.

Recommend this player to anyone who wants an good DVD player for around £100.

Bought this Acoustic Solutions 651 DVD player from Richer Sounds for £119 to replace a Samsung 709. Was impressed at first, but recently it has been stopping for approx 3-5 seconds when playing films. Can't be the layer change as it is happening all over the place. Will take it back if it keeps doing it.
