I've Just Spent A Number Of Hours Tring To Find Ou

I've just spent a number of hours tring to find out the hack code to make the Limit 8072 region free. Been on the websites etc didn't want to pay the money. Phoned Richer Sounds and they gave me two codes, the latter worked.

Switch on - Open Tray - Press 8,4,2,1

Then region box displays itself. Press okay till you reach 9 then close tray. This then stores the DVD Player as region free. Other code that was given is folow same function but use numbers - 8,9,2,3,9,9,9,1 then either 0 for region free or 1 or 2 etc.

I Bought This Limit 8072 Dvd Player 2 Years Ago Fo

I bought this Limit 8072 dvd player 2 years ago for £150, and back then it was a pretty good deal considering DVD was relatively new then.

I was very impressed with the quality of the picture and sound, although I have not managed to connect to a 5.1 speaker system.

Overall it is good but in time I have found a few flaws.

Firstly I played VCDs on them and they all had Lip Sync problems. I thought it was the VCD's problem but I realised in time all vcd's had the same problems! So I conclude that it was the layer that was faulty.

I took it back to repair (after 2 years) and although they said it was not specified to play VCD's and do not guarantee they can resolve the problem, they agreed to fix it under the cover scheme.

They fixed and it was fine. And then recently some VCDs are having the same problem. Have not yet ensured it was the same for all yet. But I had no problems with DVD picture.

Other minor, I bought a legit DVD from Hong Kong and it had problems with the sound stuttering, but this was the only one film with that problem. But it plays fine with NTSC TV's, so not sure what happened there.

Also I have realised that with NTSC DVD's (from HK and USA), movies seem fine but with some Anime (Animation) the picture stutters a bit.

So it isn't perfect but still good value for it's variety of media types and the bog standard DVD viwers who are not too adventurous.

Also when fast forwarding, it jumps straight to 2X then take about 1 or 2 secs before you can press fast forward again for higher speeds of fast fowarding.

I also find the picture quality is dated now. Even the most basic machine are slightly better now. Unless they use better technology than the machines 2 years ago, I would recommend paying a little more for a little better.

I Bought This Limit 8072 Dvd Palyer From Richer So

I bought this Limit 8072 DVD palyer from Richer Sounds for £79, although it's currently only £39!

For that price, it's fine. The picture and sound won't disappoint and the whole unit looks quite pleasing. There are cutbacks though. The remote control is no worse than any other budget player, but still on the cheap-and-cheerful side of things. The drawer for the DVDs is a little naff too. The buttons on the front feel a little cheap and the whole operation seems a little sluggish.

However, it's reliable, and will impress, without any obvious drawbacks in what you see on the screen. Plus, having a DVD player with Limit on the front is much better than Alba or Goodmans!!!

I'm Fairly New To Dvd, And I Only Wanted Something

I'm fairly new to dvd, and i only wanted something cheap. i was told not to bother with the cyberhome player by the guy in richer sounds, for the same price the limit was better. I was initially confused by trying in a strange hack (is this actually legal? But found once entered i was met with everything i could hope for (vcd and multi region)- the macrovision on/off function is a bit odd. Does this remove macrovision? The playback is really something special, i wasn't really expecting it to be so sharp at such a low price (and with a brand i'd never even heard of before!)- the only problem i've got with the limit is it's big bulky silver shell remind me of my old v2000 player!

well, based on your opinion, 'flying guillotine', i went to richer sounds and promptly bought the 8070. let it be further known to all, that the picture clarity is tops, sound quality sharp and bold, easily rivalling that of my pioneer player i bought a year 1/2 ago. for the price, excellent machine with tons of features. to answer my own (earlier) question, (!) the 8072 comes with dolby digital decoder built in. costs about £20 more.

mlsw1.

It certainly does- i've been making -ahem!- back up copies from region 1 ntsc disks and they play just fine on my old pal only vcr!

mlsw1.

I just want to know if anyone knows whether there is a difference between the LIMIT 8070 and 8072. (aesthetic, features, etc) ???. The guy in Richer Sounds says that they come labelled in different boxes but are the same. Is the 8072 better perhaps?

Also, and this is really REALLY important, can anyone confirm whether the Macrovision can be disabled on the 8070, and whether anyone has actually managed to copy to v

hs for backup?

I Brought The Limit 8070 (8072) From Richer Sounds

I brought the Limit 8070 (8072) from Richer Sounds about three weeks ago. The person who works there recommended it to me saying that is was an absolute bargain at £80. It was easy to set up. The machine to look at seems a bit bulky but when you play DVDs on it you find that the picture and sound quality is really sharp. I liked the fact that I was given a hack that would allow me to play any region DVD. I think that the hack works because I can play VCDs on the player and it is not supposed to. You can set the region on the player to any or set it up as multi region. The player also has different sound options so you can set it to play the sound as pop, classical, live etc, which is good if you want to play music cds or mp3s.

The only thing that I have found with the Limit 8070 is that it will not play blade 2 and Planet Of The Apes properly. On Blade2 it works fine until it reaches chaper 12 then it always misses three chapers. I tried the DVD several times always the same result. I tried the DVD in a older model Limit of my bothers and the DVD works fine. In planet of the apes if always misses a couple of frames but nothing major.

All my other DVDs work fine.

Hi - I'd also like to know the VCD hack please.

Many thanks! [email protected]

mlsw1.

I will post the hack the next time I log on. I brought another copy of Blade 2 and Planet of the Apes and both worked fine. The other two DVDs must have been corrupted or something.

cookie.

I to have just bought a Limit 8070 from Richer Sounds but was totally unaware of a hack that allows you to play VCD's, play disk from any region etc.

Can you pleeeeease tell me how and where i can aquire this hack.

One more point, i thought the 8070 was meant to be multi region?! (im new to this DVD lark, so forgive my ignorance)

I Bought A Limit 8070 (8072) From Richer Sounds, W

I bought a Limit 8070 (8072) from Richer Sounds, who advised me to choose this player over the Acoustic 321 which I had intended to buy.

Having read that some people had had problems with this player I decided to try it out before wrapping it (it's a birthday present for a relative) and compare it against my Wharfedale 750S.

It's marvellous.

It coped well with The Matrix, and, after unlocking, also played a Region 1 disk, a VCD and an SVCD with no problems whatsoever.

I've not used the player in anger, but picture and sound quality is possibly better than my Wharfedale which cost almost twice the eighty quid that Richer charged me for the Limit.

I Just Bought The Limit 9090, And I Totally Agree

I just bought the Limit 9090, and I totally agree with the others reviews! It's fantastic and at the lowest price you can buy such a player. I don't know neither who are Limit, and the default language was french, too. SO????????

mlsw1.

Having recently bought a Limit PB583 active surround sound speaker set, which like the comments above I find to be excellent value for money (£150 at Richer Sounds), I have also searched for additional information on Limit.

I have had no luck in finding much in terms of reviews or tests, but I have found their web address: www.limitgroup.com.

As mentioned in an earlier comment they are a Belgian outfit. Not sure where they source their stuff from.

Regards

Peter

Fingers.

I was told by Richer Sounds that Limit is a Japanese company that assembles its parts in Belgium, hence French as default language. I've just bought the Limit 9900SE and was very dubious as I'd not heard of Limit either nor cold I find out who they were on the Net. Richer sounds guy said they just don't want to be a known name, which sounds a bit dodgy to me but there you go.

I've Also Received The Limit 9090 Dvd Player From

I've also received the LIMIT 9090 DVD player from Richer sounds and have gone mental trying to find out about them. I agree that it is without a doubt the best dvd player i've had (ive gone through most of the Sony and panasonic brands), but it would be nice to know who made it and if they are producing another one soon. Any help anyone could give would be great!

tonygiblet

web site is www.limitelectronics.co.uk

mlsw1.

Guys, "Limit" is an American Brand! But most of their stuff is made in China.

mlsw1.

The search for Limit continues:- RS of Coventry think they're a Belgian setup. I take delivery of a 9900SE today - hope it's all it's cracked up to be !

Moin.

According to Richer Sounds in Bristol, they are made from Panasonic componentry. I know no more...

mlsw1.

I Wanted A Cyberhome Adl528 But Richer Sounds Wer

I wanted a Cyberhome ADL528 but Richer Sounds were out of stock, They recommended I go for the Limit 80702 at the same price, saying that it is usually much more expensive and a better machine all round.

The multi-region hack will not work, and when playing VCD's the sound is out of synch with the picture. (Like watching a badly dubbed foreign film). DVD's are great, although the first one I tried would not play, this later cleared itself and it later played OK.

Anyone else had the "out of synch" problem?

9
Neil.

Quite probably - but where to get the firmware upgrade from?

mlsw1.

A mate of mine suggested that a firmware upgrade might fix the VCD sound sync problem - anyone got any comments?

Neil.

I also get the VCD synch problem. It's annoying :-( I used to watch+make loads of video CD's. No more :-(

sychnant.

I have just bought this model from richer sounds as they didn't have the cyberhome in stock..I have tried it with Dvd region 1/region 2 and DVD-R, VCD and SVCD.. all played OK.. I noticed an out of sync sound on one DVD-R movie but reststarting sorted it. The Jpeg function is even able to find Jpegs among other data files and list all the folders..appears to show pics in VCD mode.. not exceptional quality.. but it's for free and you can even see the pics as thumbnails too.. all in all not a bad buy for the money.

mickey.

I'm looking to buy Limit 8070 from Richer sounds @ £80. Mostly all the comments seem positive and I will most probably be buying this sometime next week when my 'local' RS has some in stock. Ok more to the point has anyone tried the JPEG facility on this player? I think this is a cool feature and seems very useful for my purpose. Any comments would be most welcome.

cheers!

BUT WHO MAKES IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just bought a LIMIT 9090 and very pleased with it too.

Richer Sounds (Exeter) were somewhat vague in answering my question re who are LIMIT. He said they were German and it's a branded product which he thinks is only made for Richer Sounds. Given that the default language when setting up is French, I doubt it ! Anyway, mysterious as it is, I tried it alongside many other DVD players, some much more expensive, and it was the best.
