OK, only happy to see that I'm not alone to have to play with the remote control to see a entire DVD.

I have also the freeze pictures, but nothing seeing to be wrong in the player itself. Pretty clear for me that it is a firmware problem. I hope to arrive to contact philips and have the good firmware update...

has been a great player for home produced vcd's and plays dvd's beautifully. However, 12 and a half months after purchase it has stated freezing and rejecting vcd's as well as some dvd's which is incredibly frustrating. Almost as if a software time bomb was built into the firmware!

Before my experience of freezing vcd's I would have given this player a 9 or 10 for overall, but experience is what this is all about - so sorry Philips this gets a 3.

I dropped the Philips CD and bought a Marantz CD5400 and I'm satisfied.

Hmmmm...Philips DVD622. Well , I checked it recently at a shop. I compared its frequency response with my "Goodmans CDMP352"'s freq. response (........I played a ".CDA" CD in both the models and compared the two outputs amplified in a PHILIPS TV). I discovered that the Philips is way behind the Goodmans CDMP352 model of mine in clarity !! In PHILIPS the voice -clarity is good , but bass and treble are not upto the mark! So I dropped the idea of buying the DVD622 model.

Philips DVD622 may be the "King of Playability", but really lacks in proper sound output. .Philips has to improve it....I hope (Philips and) all the customers note this feedback of mine. All the best PHILIPS!

I've had the same experience. After 28 months it started frezing up on music CD's. When I switch the player on there is a little noise and the player is still dead. Seems to me a servo control that's trying to position something but never reach their destination. Sometimes it plays a 15 minutes and than it stops for some days. I am a fan of Philips but after this not anymore. I throw this player in the thrunk and buy a new one. You may guess which brand: NOT PHILIPS!!

We bouhgt this player last year november. It worked fine for a month and than it started freezing or at time goes slow and continues there after. Very annoying when you use the DVD as a presentation help. My audience of more than 30 will not be buying a Philips DVD player!

After that the DVD has been sitting idle for at least 2 month, I have today put it to the test again. I clocked up 24 hours (repeat showing) without any problems yet.

Since I turned off PBC, my DVD622 plays VCD OK. Sometimes it freezes for 2-5 seconds (which is rather annoying) but the stream comes back (which did not whith PBC on). Rarely, it doesn't but going into slow motion for a few frames and then resume playing normaly has worked fine so far.

Firstly, Its About Time I Thanked Guru For His Hel

Firstly, its about time I thanked GURU for his help, however Philips were flumoxed, did nothing to sort the problem in the Philips DVD622 DVD player. It seems to be harder to find in Electrical Stores as the 623 seems to be its replacement which sports less features.

My Electrical Shop has stopped selling the 622 I believe, but are still with the 612. They could not do anything with the 622 either so I changed to the Pioneer DVD 444 S - excellent machine, multi region, good manual, plenty of features that work, new slimline design, very pleased with it and Pioneer who have, I`m afraid to say, made Philips look inferior in my opinion.
