“Horrible Experience”

I have sent the following complaint and considering contacting ABTA if I am not satisfied with the response.

On the 3rd September 2022, I went on the French and Italian Riviera Coach Holiday which was something I was looking forward to,as it had been cancelled 3 years ago due to Covid.

I was especially looking forward to, as were many others, to the additional excursion to Monaco and Monte Carlo as it was somewhere I had never been.

Many aspects of this holiday were unacceptable and definitely not what I paid for -

1. The holiday was supposed to be "Silver Service" which is advertised as having on-board entertainment and free headphones but none available.

2.Overnight stop on the way out was too close to Calais leaving a 16hrs trip to the Riviera the following day and arriving at 2245hrs and although a meal was supplied it was far too late to eat.

3.Stops en-route were not long enough for 30ish passengers to go to the toilet and get something to eat considering the mobility of many of the elderly passengers.

4.The aggressive driving of their employee whose driving made me very uneasy, he was constantly sounding his horn and one passenger was begging him to slow down and was in tears.

5.Cancelling the trip to Monaco and Monte Carlo which as stated previously was the main reason for booking the holiday. Obviously it was sad that the Queen had died but you cancelled the trip as a mark of respect without any consideration to your customers. The Tour Guide hadn't been told as she turned up. When the driver was confronted about the cancellation he said that he would take us but would not be happy about it and bearing in mind his driving I dread to think how he would have driven us there and then he crossed out "Have a nice day" on the noticeboard which is petty and childish.
The additional excursion to Monaco and Monte Carlo was paid for and therefore a contract made
between us and I can understand if extraordinary circumstances like weather, conflict or Government advice cancels the trip but not something which had no influence on the destination.

Were included day trips on other holidays cancelled as a mark of respect.

Were additional excursions on other holidays cancelled or was it just ours and if so why.

What is the reaction of passengers on other holidays having their additional excursions cancelled.

6.The overnight stop on the way back was in the middle of an industrial estate, there were no facilities to get anything to eat or drink and not even a cup in our room to get a drink of water.

7.Passengers being left behind at a Service Station as no head count and driver only stopped when we shouted out.

I know that many of us said that we were going to make a complaint.
