“8 Days in Norway Were 8 Days in Misery”

Arrived in Oslo and Hotel Verdandi was a bit too far to walk. Took a taxi. Paid 200 Kroner, 166 K, 172K and 194- this last time I had to ask the driver to turn off the meter. First train from Oslo to Myrdal was canceled long before- had to take a bus. Arrived in Myrdal to take the scenic train to Flamm, but we were too late to get a nice seat. Had to see the view backwards. Boat ride on the fjord was okay- no memorable scenery. Left in Voss with 20 other people looking for a bus that was not there. Train ride from Bergen to Stavanger involved 2 ferry portions which we were not aware of. Stavanger was in no-man's land and on a Sunday what was there was closed- including the hotel restaurant. Then the capper was the 8.5 hour train ride from Stavanger back to Oslo. Arrived in time to get dinner and go to bed. Never saw anything in Oslo. Also asked for an aisle seat and the middle seat on the airplanes, but that only was successfully accomplished on 1 out of 4 flights. Also the itinerary, which was sent 3 weeks prior was very sketchy with details. I had to do a lot of research to feel even slightly comfortable traveling around a new country. On agent with Fleetway said that I would receive a more detailed package at my first hotel. There was nothing. Just too many planes, buses and trains without ample time in Bergen or Oslo.
