Lovely Lodges With Amazing Views
We had booked a lodge for 4 nights over the new year and I have to say it was the best experience ever. Although we didnt see the owner when we arrived we managed to have short friendly chats the following days when we saw them.
When we first got into the lodge it was stunning, well decorated and very clean, there was even an xmas tree put up for the festive period (a nice touch). There were 2 bedrooms both with en suites and the size of the downstairs bathroom was unbelieveable. There is also a log effect gas fire which is nice and heats up the lodge very quickly, particularly makes the mezzanine seating area toasty!
The views from the lodges I believe are the best on this side of the loch, absolutely amazing. The hot tub outside was definately the best part of the stay, not even the rain or snow stopped us from jumping in. The area also offers some nice walks around foyers, there is the waterfalls at foyers which is nice to view and a good walk to take in the views.
The waterfall cafe a few minutes walk away from the lodges was also a nice place to relax after our walks with nice friendly staff and quick service.
The only gripe I would have is the charge for gas and electricity which we didnt realise before we got there. In all fairness we understood the charging for it and the rate they set is reasonable, it all falls down to whether you leave everything on all the time or not.
Overall I would say it is definately worth the money, friendly staff, friendly community and stunning views... unfortunately we did not see Nessie this time.

Beautiful View. Service Mediocre At Best And I A
Beautiful view. Service mediocre at best and I agree that you will be hit with a hefty electricity bill at the end of your stay. Well I assume it was fir electricity -- I received no correspondence about the extra charges and may advise my CC company that this is an unauthorized charge.
When I phoned for directions from Inverness I was met with a couldnt care less attitude - basically find it yourself.
Welcome pack -- a few tea bags and a couple of sachets of coffee.
For a cost of 1200 per week it offers very poor value for money tough the cabins are in fine condition and the view is spectacular.

We Stayed There As A Surprise For Friends And Vow
We stayed there as a surprise for friends and vow never to go back.
On arrival our "welcome pack" was missing and when we told the owner she said...funny that ..there was none at the other one neither. The local shop shut early so we did without.
The electricity bill as an add on was an expensive addition with no means to check as no meter readings were given at the start or the end.
Hot tub far too expensive to use as you had to warm it up first, which took ages . Service was awfull and they seemed more interested in selling them at over £300k a pop than any problems we had on site. Never again.

Stayed At A Lodge At Foyers, Near Inverness, For C
Stayed at a lodge at Foyers, near Inverness, for Christmas 2008, excellent place the lodges are nice but for the price i expected everything to work ,some lights did'nt work and this is even mentioned in the hand book in the lodge supplied by the owners! also the hot tub is mentioned ...quote.... contrary to a well known hottub suppliers claim that you can run a hottub for £1 a day you cannot.......
and they aren't joking......we received a fuel bill for 1 week of £168.92 thats for electricity and gas and after paying £1300+ it was a bit of a stinger!!i'm sure its written somewhere but we were not aware until we arrived about the extra charges.
overall it was a very nice change for christmas ...a one off....but don't think it was worth the money. Exellent area for relaxing and walking
btw food got 10 cos i cooked :-))

Lovely Lodges, But The Owner Is An Absolute Nightm
Lovely lodges, but the owner is an absolute nightmare. We woke on a Saturday morning to an incredibly rude, obnoxious, and inconsistent rant from the owner about our supposed noise the previous night, which had been so terrible that "all the other lodges have complained".When she'd completed her fizzing we wandered over to the next lodge (a mere 20m away) and explained that we were sorry for any noise the previous night. However the occupant just replied "We heard some talking till about midnight but that was it" Our stay was really soured by the tone and misrepresentation the owners took with us, immediately jumping to conclusions. We certainly will not be returning, and I hope this review makes others think twice as I'd be loath to lend custom to people like that again.
Totally agree. We are just back from a hen weekend there with18 professional females staying in 2 lodges. We had booked 3 but they doubled booked one so the others had to stay in a local b&b and then join us. The next morning we had the female owner round to add chemicals to the hot tub then have major rant at our cabin about locals in the village complaining about the noise levels and us screaming and swearing in the early hours! We pointed out that nobodynwas running about, screaming or swearing then we were told the local heard a name being repeated loudly. We asked the name only to be told didn't know what the name was but she would know it if she heard it! All rubbish. We there got blamed for other females wrecking the hot tubs by not showering and clogging filters etc with fake tan, body lotions etc and having too many people in it! We told her we did nothing wrong and could not here any noise from the other cabin at any time. She then went next door and started on the rest of our party with the same rubbish! In the end we phoned her son Callum who runs then chalet park and demanded he did something about this mad women as she was threatening to evict us!!! We then got accused of having extra folk staying in the lodge as we had so many cars. We explained that people had travelled from all over the uk hence all the cars. She still didn't believe us and told us our extra guest staying in the b&b were not allowed to visit as her insurance would not cover them. We explained it was their fault they had doubled booked then extra lodge and that they would be coming round. We also got a lecture on the place being untidy and dont expect her to clean it up! We told her it would be left tidy as we found it and demanded she left! She then came back again shortly after to complain again so her son was told to keep her away and we only wanted to deal with him if there were any issues! Then customer service here is horrendous and reading various reviews this woman is the same to everyone. The place is nice but not 5 stars. Broken seats in the steam room, missing drawers in the freezers, dirty towels from previous guests left in the bath and refused to give enough fresh towels for eight people. Single bed mattress slopes sideways so you have to sleep with a pillow on the edge son you dont roll off the bed, radiators clunking all night in same room so you cant sleep. We reported this to the woman who said she would bleed the radiator then never came back again. We were also warned to keep quiet the next evening and we said we were going out for a meal. At midnight shortly after we got back a car came along the private road to check on us and to see if we were outside then shot off when we saw the car and came out to seen what was going on. Someone then entered both chalets at 6.40am the next morning without our permission!! Obviously to check if we had additional guests staying, which we didn't have. We reported all of this the next day to the owners only for them to say they knew nothing about it! Overall it is nice place with lovely views but then property is in need of some tlc inside and outside. Not a good place to stay if you want to sit outside enjoy the hot tub or BBQ and chat or if you dare to laugh!! If you bring children then keep them inside and quiet or you will have this mad woman spoiling your holiday! They have a list of additional charges you are presented with when you arrived and they charge a small fortune on gas and electricity at a later date after they take the money from your card. We asked the son to come and check the chalets over before we left and check the meter readings but he refused so god knows what the final bill will be! Wouldn't recommend this place to stay unless you want horrendous customer care and them leaving a sour note on your break! Beware you will be blamed for any noise even from other lodges if she thinks she can get away with it!

I Would Certainly Go Back But If You Are Looking T
I would certainly go back but if you are looking to eat out in the evening be prepared to travel. There is not a lot particularly close.
I found this review very helpful because it shows that everything about this place, apart from foolish people, will be a joy to experience. I can't wait!!

My Husband Booked A Lodge For A Birthday Surprise.
My husband booked a lodge for a birthday surprise. By the time we were due to go, there was 18 of us. We managed to book two lodges, a bed and breakfast and a hotel to accommodate us all. A lodge can accommodate 6 people. Foyers is situated on the less commercialised side of Loch Ness, about 25 minutes drive from Inverness.
On arriving, after a three and a half hours drive, we were tired and looking forward to all the lodge had to offer. No sign of reception being open but that was fine as our key was accessed via a small box on the outside of our lodge. We punched in a number, which had been sent to us via our booking form. On entering the lodge it all looked good. The kitchen has all the appliances you would expect from a lodge that boasts it is 5 star. The dining room has a large table with 6 chairs. The lounge has two leather sofas, leather chair, a large TV, a DVD player, coffee table and a lovely gas fire. Two bedrooms are situated on the ground floor. One is a double with an en-suite. A steam power shower is a definite plus. The twin room has it's own toilet and sink. All the furniture throughout is of good quality. Upstairs is a separate sitting area with a master bedroom through a separate door. The king-size bed is comfy. The en-suite has a jacuzzi bath with a separate power shower. Again, all bathroom appliances are of a high quality. The master bedroom also has access to a balcony with two chairs. All bedrooms had a TV. On the patio you will find a table with only four chairs, a BBQ and a hot tub. All sounding good so far? Well wait.
Niggles is maybe what some would call them. Paying over £500 for a three night stay, then maybe the niggles should be ironed out.
Let me take you back to the beginning. On the website, Lodges on Loch Ness (.com), they are adjacent to the only 4 star hotel on Loch Ness. This is actually a family affair and the same family own both ventures. On booking this birthday treat we thought it would be nice to book a meal in this hotel. On phoning them after we had booked the lodges, they informed us that they were indeed shut at the time of our visit due to family matters. Then before we left home, word had obviously got around in Foyers that 18 people were in our group and ready to descend on them. The owner, or one of them, phoned us in a panic. She believed that we were probably trying to squeeze 18 people into two lodges. We informed her that this was not the case, although she did underline the importance of only having 6 people to a lodge. She also told us that the cut off time for noise was 11pm and there would be a charge if the owners had to come out due to complaints. I politely explained that I was nearing my 40th birthday not my 18th!
So a couple of wee niggly things there but not much. Same with the TV in the twin room, which did not work. The huge nail popping up through the carpet in the master bedroom was more of a pain than a niggle, if you get my meaning. The outside bin, not being emptied on a daily basis, as it is situated on the patio. The patio heater, which was promised on their website was not there either. The lodges also have a deal that they tell you about on their website. A hotel in Inverness gives you free access to their leisure facilities if you stay at the lodges. That is incorrect, they now charge £7. You don't know this until you get to the lodge and there is a footnote in the information they leave you. It's still free on their website, maybe change that sometime soon I would reckon.
My main gripe has to be the total lack of friendly customer service. There was no attempt to meet us at any time during our stay. We spotted someone in the reception portacabin about half an hour before we were due to leave and my husband went to have a word. If he hadn't we would never have seen anyone. To cap it all so far, the lodges are lovely and the owners appear to be happy to take your money with minimum output from them. They were more concerned with us adhering to rules, than us having a nice time. A total sour lot if you ask me!
On a brighter note. A wee special mention for the Waterfall Cafe in Foyers, which is owned by Tim. We booked my special birthday meal here and he was outstanding. The food was raved about, the drink was plentiful. He had even put up birthday banners. We had a great time and cannot thank him enough for giving us a great time. He also made our night when he told us that the hotel, owned by the Lodges on the Loch, had a bar man on in case we fancied a wee drink. No one had bothered to tell us! We told Tim that we had been told the hotel was shut. He informed us that whilst it was not doing accomodation or food the bar was open. The reason for it being shut? Most of them were all off to see an International Rugby Match in Edinburgh. You couldn't make it up, eh?
In spite of it all, I would say we had a brilliant time. The lodges are lovely. However, for the price, they should be. Keep in mind, no free leisure facilities, no patio heater and if there happens to be a rugby match on, then no nearby hotel!
I have stayed at Loch Ness Lodges and found them to be very good, the office was closed when we arrived too but we were given clear instructions on entry of the lodge and a number to contacts if we had any problems and all was just fine. The office was open during the day and we found the staff to be small in numbers but very polite and helpful. To our delight, the stay was just as we wanted, peace and no hassle, to be honest I found it great. I think the owners called you because it shows they are thinking of all the folk who are there for peace and quiet, may be they were worried their stay might be spoiled by a large party of guests. So may be their communication with you came over a bit wrong but I am sure that were not meaning to cause offense. I could not fault our stay and have re-booked already. I would recommend it anytime.
