Praia da Oura

We went to Praia Da Oura last July and are going again on Saturday! We had an ace time and everything was good! The people are also very friendly and the bars are really good.

I would recommend it!

We booked flights (easyJet) and Praia da Oura (alpharooms.com) ourselves. We got both very cheap! We were allocated a lovely 1 bed apartment with sea views. It was really clean, with large living area, large bedroom with king size bed and quilt, spotlessly clean kitchen area with full size glass top cooker and everything you'd need for making a full meal, although we ate out. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The resort is hilly, although we met a few people with walking sticks and wheelchairs who seemed happy. The CPO is massive and even at this time of year (Feb 2005) was quite busy. The 'strip' area is fairly quiet at this time and a few places are closed but you can still get everything you need. We had lovely meals at the Sizzling Stone, and a place opposite El Rancho, can't remember the name but it started 'O P.....' it has marble tiling in the entrance. El Rancho was closed, but I've eaten there before and enjoyed my meal. Our whole trip was excellent, we didn't find a single thing to complain about. The thing we were most impressed with was the friendliness of the Portugese people, every single one of them!

We would recommend Praia da Oura and the CPO, which is a time share resort, but you can book rooms independently.

There are timeshare sellers along the strip, but they do take 'no' for an answer and don't hassle you.
