Do not go near zodiac studios..

Like many others we meet from zodiac in the summer, we were not given our 500 euro deposit back when leaving, even though this was a damage deposit and the room was left spotless! When we asked politely for our deposit back when leaving, as the money was ours the staff were rude and started trying to claim that we has agreed to a 3month contract, even though a contract never existed the staff then resulted to threatening us ( a group of 3 girls ) to get us to leave the hotel ...without the 'DAMAGE' deposit. Honestly i would not suggest setting a foot in zodiac studios and do not hand over a penny to them especially before you arrive. No other apartments in Malia ask for a deposit before you arrive

We arrived at Zodiac Studio Apartments on 12th may 2009 having already paid a 500 euro deposit. We paid 1500 euros upfront for a 3month stay.. during our time there we found the staff rude and not friendly at all.. rather insulting to be honest ... after 1months stay with NO warning we got kickd out as they said they had complaints about us but wouldnt tell us who from or how we could resolve this. We were given 1 hour to remove all our belongings after we packed ready to go we went to ask for our remaining 500 euro deposit and 1000euro that was stil owed to us for the further 2months and was told we are not getting it back. and was told to leave. After having no money and no place to stay we spoke to a friend who went back and was able to get us 500euro back ..although zodiac people stil kept 1000 euros.. this was done a week before to another person who paid up front.. all they're bothered about is money money money. The way we were spoken to and treated was not exceptable and i will go on telling everyone not to go there as it is not worth the hassle ..!!!

I had an amazing time at the Zodiac Apartments in Malia! The hotel was a five minute walk from the strip, so it wasn't too noisy, and all the staff were really nice and up for a good laugh!!

There is no pool, but in Malia you can just use any pool, which is good as you just pick the one where the birds are the fittest!!

I will definitely be going back again! It was my best holiday yet!

We arrived at the Zodia Studio Apartments in Malia in the early hours of the morning. The staff there were very friendly, and they had food available for us as soon as we arrived! We even had out suitcases carried up to our rooms!

In total there was 5 of us who went to Zodiac Studios (me, my mum, my sister, my mums friend and her daughter). We all loved the place, and the whole holiday was fantastic! They make the best cheese toasties in the whole of Crete, and I have watched all the Simpsons episodes on DVD that were in the hotel!

The rooms were tidy and comfortable, and they were well organised!

The staff were friendly no matter what we needed or what time we needed them, and they catered for our every need! The atmosphere was excellent, and the studios staff were very friendly and warm.

The temperature in Crete when we went was excellent and very hot! We went in September 2004, but we had July temperatures! I know September 2004 is a long time ago, and you must be thinking why on earth does this dude bother putting his review on this site now? Well, my answer is, because I enjoyed the holiday so much that I had to give my shout out and tell everyone how great the place is, and whoever thinks about going to Malia should stay at the Zodiac Studios!! My mums new favorite place in the whole world is now Malia as it is so laid back and fun. The temperature is excellent, but her holiday, and also the rest of us would not have had such a great holiday if it were not for the staff at the Zodiac Studios!

Thanks everyone, because without you we may never have considered returning to Malia, but because you made our holiday so great, we want to come back!!! Thanks a lot for a great stay! We really enjoyed it, and it is certainly not going to be a holiday that we are going to forget!

Everything about the Zodiac Studios helped us to have a great holiday! There were 13 of us in total (all lads aged 18-20) and not one of us had a bad word to say about this place! After reading some of the other reviews we were a bit wary, but there was no need to be! The pool is a 2 minute walk away and about 10 minutes to the frantic nightlife! Make sure you have a cocktail from the bar before you go out to get you started! Its a bit of a walk to the beach, about 20 minutes, but we were happy enough to lounge around the pool when we saw daylight. There was a pool competition most nights and there are also many other games to keep you entertained! The air conditioning and safe cost 45 Euro a week though! The BBQ was gorgeous and all the staff did everything possible to ensure we had a great time and at the Zodiac we certainly did!

From the moment we arrived at the Zodia Studio Apartments in Crete, until the last moment we left, the staff where useless.

On the last day we had to be out of our room at 12.00 noon. If you pay 25 euros you can stay in your room until 18.00, then they tell you can stay in the room until 4am if you pay a further 35 euros.

I would never reccomend the Zodiac Studios to anyone that wishes to enjoy their stay in Malia. On arrival we were charged 90 euros for air conditioning and a safe only to find that the key to the safe was attached to the door key which then has to be placed in an open cabinet when going out, so anyone had easy acces to the safe key.

My friend left her balcony door open for 5 minutes because she was putting some washing out to dry, she then noticed that for the next few days her air conditioning was not working, when she asked the staff why this was they told her they had taken the air conditioning away from her as a punishment and refused to put it back on or give her 90 euros back.

I think in the staff training they are taught to take as much money fom you on the sly as possible, there were 3 incidents when I had to ask for my change back because the staff had just walked off and 'forgot to give it back'.

The 'all you can eat bbq' was a joke, you have to pay 10 euros for a piece of meat and salad even then they bug you to buy more drinks.

After coming in from nights out we wanted to sit on our balcomy and chill before going to sleep but you can't even do that because the security guard hides in the bushes and shines his torch in your face and tells you to go to bed and turn of the lights. If you are faced with an issue during your stay there's no point in trying to solve it because the Bongo guy finds it amusing and just laughs in your face and he puts too much mayonnaise in his toasties.

So after all this we didn't think our stay would get much worse at the Zodiac Studios, until my friends went back in to their rooms to find two men hiding underneath their beds and the third person urinating all over their bathroom...when they told the staff at the Zodiac....still nothing was done.

The best part of our stay at the Zodiac was leaving it, it ruined our holiday, the only way they like you is if you spend all your money on them even then, they still take the mick.

If you are considering Zodiac as a place to stay I would think again I would not reccomend it at all. VERY POOR.

Arrived at 2 ish to Malia very freindly welcome by Cat and Carisa made us come out of our rooms for a free drink which we happily obliged.

The staff were also brilliant my mate was very pleased with the sausage and bacon butties he consumed on many late night back which the staff were more than happy to make even it it was aorund 4 - 5 in the morning.

Also sample the cheese toasties I must have consumed a fair few of them whilst staying there and try and get your name on the competion board mines up there :-D

The ownner sorry cannot remember his name had a habit of joking with another of my mates askin him all his details to make sure he was staying here every time he got in in the early hours of the morning which he had a laugh about at the end of the week.

Very clean tidy air conditioning is a must to purchase although dont have it to cold end up waking up freezing but better then dying of heat.

Loved the two dogs and cats that stayed there were brilliant.

Go to the BBQ well worth it a taste sensation

Sad to go saying bye to the staff there would definitly go again if I got the chance

My holiday to the Zodiac Studios was one to remember! The accommodation was clean, tidy, bright and well looked after. The staff were really friendly and helped us with anything. They made are holiday even more enjoyable!

The zodiac is set back from the main strip, not too far but just enough after a night out!

The pubs and clubs were amazing; Malibu & Malibu sports bar were my favourites. As well as cheeky half and banana club!

The choice of restaurants out there was fabulous there was Chinese, Indian, English and traditional Greek which all tasted great!

The beaches were about a 15 min walk from the zodiac, but it was well worth the walk to see the gorgeous sands and clear waters!

If staying round the pool is more your thing then the Maria Roouse had a gorgeous pool and bar area, which is where we spent a lot of are time. Or the frixos both only 2 mins walk from the zodiac.

I really did have the best time at the zodiac and would defiantly come back again! x x x

Zodiac apartments at first glance seem basic but acceptable, with most a group of young folk could ask for for a holiday. However, dont be fooled.

Save a good few hundred euros for fines you can expect to receive. They will even try to charge you for toilet roll if your not lucky. The telephones in room are advertised as being the same as a payphone. A blatent lie as only around half an hours worth of calls cost us 120 euros. Any balcony noise is not allowed after about 10.30pm however the downstairs bar is deafening with tunes pumping till daylight.

Basically they want you in the bar not in your room because all they want from you is money. The bbq is ok but beware you will be literally harrassed until you give in to sign up. Not too bad location but a joke in terms of staff who seem friendly but unfortunately they will only become friendly with your wallet. The older greek guy who stays there is the biggest moan of all time. Doesnt seem to realise that you are on holiday not an army training camp. He will moan about music, noise or anything and if you ask why he threatens you with the police. No sense in that.We were charged for 2 weeks air conditioning when we only recieved one. When we tried to explain they told us to leave reception or they would call the police. What chance do you have? ruined the end of our holiday big style
