A Fantastic First Class Resort, Which Has 5 Stars,

A fantastic First class resort, which has 5 stars, the Full Moon has the ambiance of a deluxe hotel without the deluxe price tag. Most of the resort is new due to the refurbishment following the tsunami, with new materials used throughout the hotel and it has a very natural feel. Good choice and quality of dining experiences, friendly staff.

We stayed 6 nights in a Beach Bungalow to experience the outdoor bathroom, which was good fun, and 6 nights in the Water Bungalow. It was good to experience both.

We highly recommend this hotel, any room type.

We Stayed At The Full Moon In The Maldives In 2004

We stayed at the Full Moon in the Maldives in 2004 and 2005, and we were there when the Tsunami hit and they coped admirably. They are very friendly people, and also very helpful. We would go back!

Full Moon Classes Itself As A Five Star Resort. I

Full Moon classes itself as a five star resort. I would say it is more 3 star to be honest. There is a lot of plastic decking around the island and it has a real artificial feel with paving around the island. There are garden areas and these are very well maintained. It is a long and narrow island and quite close to Male so you can get to the capital quite easily. Reception staff have good English and the excursions are good fun. I especially enjoyed the Glass Bottom boat ride.

But the room was pretty grim to be honest. Very dated decor which I cringed at. Very 1970's. I also checked out the staff village and I was pretty appalled at how crammed into the rooms the staff were. There 16-20 to one room that I saw which upset me quite a bit. I was told that other resorts only have 3-5 to a room. So to be honest I felt they were pretty exploited. I would rather go to a resort where the staff were treated well and were I got value for money in the future.
