Yoko Rent-A-Car does not give you the impression of a proper company.

It is run by one man who "hides" is office in a small room on the backyard of a school/kindergarten which is itself in a back alley.

There is no proper sign or any other person or indication that it is a rental company.

We did not get our off-road vehicle (Mitsubishi Pajero Pinin) which was PROMISED to us 4 MONTHS BEFORE (!!!), because it was "under repair".

Instead we got a Toyota Corolla 110 in the WORST kind of condition!

We should have checked the car before signing the contract and giving any money.

The 1 month travel was such a hassle and quite stressful. But somehow we adapted ...

At almost at the end of our 1 month trip we got another car (Mazda Familia) in a way better shape, but still not the Mitsubishi which was already under repair for a month.

The only good thing was, that it was the cheapest rental fee you can get.

I would not recommend it but since the owner was a nice guy I would give him another chance, but checking everything before.

Rented a car from this company for the second time. All the time I rent manual transmission cars, just because I prefer manual cars (last time it was Hyundai Accent, this time Toyota Soluna). Communication with the owner is good. All mails are replied in time with detailed explanation of rent conditions, available cars, prices, excess milage, insurance, airport pick-up/drop-off etc. Cars are in good condition. Of course you have to check all important units before you take it especially a lighter socket (traffic is tough there, so you'll need your cell phone pretty often). Also check air cond, of course if you need it. As for me I used it just in traffic jams in towns only due to very hot weather and asphalt all around. In the highway and countryside it's better to breathe fresh air and enjoy landscapes.

After taking a look at a swift I paid the advance, however one day before collecting the rental I was told the swift is not available but will be provided with a vehicle of same quality. When I went to collect the vehicle they tried to impose on me a vehicle that was in very bad shape. After not agreeing to accept it when I requested they pay back my advance that was refused. However since I did not give up and spend half a day of my limited time there was able to get a vehicle which although not in the same condition as the swift I initially agreed upon but was better than the one they tried to pass on to me earlier. Similarly when trying to return the vehicle couldn't get the deposit and was told to leave a account number with them. This was highly irregular from my earlier experiences with other places, however I had to agree since I was leaving Sri Lanka the next day. The only good thing was they did return the deposit.

Ive been using this company's service for a long time now as I come often from England to Srilanka on vacation. There has been no hassle what so ever in this service and is frankly pretty amazing! There is a superb customer staff relationship and the owner of the business itself comes to you and you can have a good word with him. Mr. Ramanayake has been nothing but the best and I know he will continue doing his successful business well. All The best Yoko, J.

Car Rentals to make a reservation for my upcoming holidays. I have been using Yoko for a better part of past eight or so years and haven’t had any problem what so ever. Vehicles were in good nick, service was friendly and professional. Nothing extravagant nothing to complain of. True! at one stage they were located at an awkward location due to some building construction. I’m sure by now it’s all sorted out and back in business as usual. Unfortunately the above three people must have had some bad experience for some reason or other. However what about the other thousands of satisfied customers who don’t bother making a comment simply because they received the service they expected exactly the way they expected. I am one of them. We always tend to be critical on bad experiences and take the good ones for granted. That’s human nature. I personally have no problem in using Yoko again.

I made a reservation with YOKO Rent a Car (Yoko Traders), Nugegoda, Sri Lanka after finding this company through internet. I was expecting a dual AC 12 seater Van for 3 weeks which is of good condition. I even paid the full amount (75,000 RS (55,000 for van and 20,000 Rs refundable deposit). When i went to collect the vehicle, first there was no such office. The only person available was reachable through a narrow dark corridor and through another shop. There was not board to identify the company at the front nor did anybody new where this office was. Then they showed me the vehicle. The vehicle was not nearly up to the condition anybody would expect. Interior of the vehicle was of the worst condition with rusting every where. The seats were torn off, and dirty. Front AC was not working and the AC controller of the back AC was broken and there was no way of controlling it. Gear box was broken, and it never went up from the 4th gear. All or most of the suspension system was broken and it gave awful sounds each time i break. So we refused the vehicle and ask for a vehicle which will suite even close to what anyone would expect or our money back. They promised a better vehicle and for 3 days delayed the delivery of it. And when they finally did it was a single AC 7 seater, and not a dual AC 12 seater (How could the other 5 people travel???). So we wanted our money back. After several phone calls and several visits to their so called office we got only 50,000 RS back. we lost 25,000 Rs for nothing and of our 3 weeks holiday 4 weeks were already spent on trying to get a van or money back. In short they ripped us off both our money and precious time. I would never recommend this place to anybody.
