Rent4Less

I rented a car with this company and they charged an insurance that I did not asked for. After several calls asking them to remove it, they lied to me informing that this insurance was mandatory in Houston and that I asked for it when I got the car.

I requested them to send me the recording of our conversation and they said that they listened the recording and I asked it but that they have a policy to not share the recording with customers.

I rented cars in Houston with several other companies and never had any problem.

My review is "Zero".

Rented a vehicle that had problems but they gladly exchanged the vehicle. Their vehicles are a little older but run well. I had no problems. And I thought they are very custumer focused and friendly.

They are the cheapest car rental and I was overall very pleased.

This is a letter I wrote to them. They left us stranded because we wouldn't be talked into buying the insurance. Nowhere on their website or their booking confirmations was there information stating that you needed your insurance records to avoid paying their insurance. Very much resembles a bait and switch strategy to me. Not to mention that they were extremely rude.

On Aug 1st at approx 4pm. My girlfriend and I were picked up by your driver at LAX. We went to the office and attempted to rent a car. I declined all insurance and then was told that I had to have my insurance cards to decline. I stated to them and had supporting paperwork that nowhere did it say in my reservation or email confirmation that I needed my insurance cards. Nor does it state that on your website in your rental policies. Since I had no way of contacting my insurance company and the insurance on the car would be more than for other companies, we decided to rent elsewhere. When we asked to be taken back to the off airport rental, we were told in a rude manner that we would not be given a ride back, since we weren't renting the vehicle. I couldn't believe what we were hearing. It would be simple courtesy and good business practice to give us a ride back to the airport so we can continue our trip. We were again refused in a rude manner by the gentleman over and over. I then asked him to get his district manager on the phone and again he refused to give me the name or number of the person. We walked out, down the street, rented a car from Thrifty without a problem and if we had decided not to rent from them, they would have given us a ride back. I have never encountered a rental company with such skewed and deceptive policies and have never been treated in such a rude manner. It was unbelievable to both of us that we would be left stranded at the office, just because we were not informed of your policies prior to arriving, on the confirmations or otherwise. This was a perfect example of very poor business practices. You have obviously lost a customer and probably more as I let my co-workers and friends know about our situation with your company. We are still very upset about the way we were treated and it sounds like you need to do some serious reviewing of your customer service policies.

I reserved online with Rent4Less 2 months in advance for a 12-seater van, and guess what, 2 days before the pickup date, I called them to confirm, due to the advice of my sister and friends who've had bad experiences with Rent4Less, and they said they don't have anything available, and that the reservation was just to lock-in the rates. That's purely stupid!

I recommend avoiding this company. Rent4Less is small and run their business accordingly. They got my attention with low rental costs but then added charges. Ultimately I would have saved money and time using one of the major rental companies. Beware.
