Eurocar Rental NZ ltd. Christchurch

We rented Europcar from Christchurch airport. Very friendly & helpful staff. We were given a Santa Fe , almost new, gave us very good mileage considering the hilly roads of South Isand. Returned it in Picton, got a new car in Wellington airport, another Sante fe almost new , had an extra feature of rear camera which helps you to park in the dark.gave very good mileage almost 13km/ hr. very happy with Europcar.

We liked their vehicle selection and feel they offer very good value for money. Most of the other rental car companies have the same sort of car to hire whereas Euro have many different cars including cabriolets. We hired a coupe a Mercedes-Benz coupe and were very happy with it. Good value and no extra costs.

We hired a car for our mother coming into Christchurch and we were really impressed with Euro Car Rental. The service was snappy and friendly and the car was good, excellent. We really loved it and felt sad to give it back.

We will use Euro Car Rental again next time friends and family visit us.

Please do not mistake Euro Car Rentals with Europcar. Euro Car Rentals also trade as Elite car rentals and operate out of an office a few kilometres out of the Christchurch airport.

I rented a BMX Z3 in early December. When taking the vehicle they were very casual with respect to the return time, stating just give us a call whenever on the last day of hire. We received a call an hour prior to the scheduled drop off, when I replied I would be 20 - 30 minutes late they immediately said they would be charging me an additional day. On the back of that we decided to keep the vehicle overnight since we we being charged anyway.

Given we had an early flight out on the Sunday morning I parked the vehicle in short term parking, left $20 in the glove box for parking and sent an email advising location of the car and keys. After no reply to several emails and phone messages I finally got hold of them only for them to tell me the vehicle had sustained considerable damage and I had been charged $5000 as per the rental agreement.

Needless to say I was irrate as I had taken extreme care of the vehicle and was confident I had not damaged it. After some angry words they simply hang up and refused to answer any future phone calls. When I finally spoke with someone I blew a fuse which resulted in them calling the NZ police as they felt intimidated by my reaction to their charges. I subsequently received phone calls from NZ police and was advised not to return to the Euro Car office or I may be charged with trespass.

After sometime the eventually refunded some of the money but retained $1400 for purported repairs, most of which was relating to the down time of the vehicle charged at full rate. The owners have been previously charged with similar crimes, see the link below.

I definitley did not damage the car. Do yourself a favour and avoid Euro Car Hire and Elite Car Hire. I will be making formal complaints with the appropriate authorities and hope they are exposed once again.

Extremely helpful. Met at airport and tranferred to the office for vehicle colleciton. I needed to relocate an elderly relative and it was suggested that I have a different type of vehicle to make easier access for the passenger. Better vehicle, same price. Great value, and caring concern. Being an international traveller not being sure of local conditions this was appreciated. The vehicle and service was more than I expected.

We really enjoyed our holiday and only have praise for Euro Car Rental. We will be back.

Booked mid June 09 to get cheap rate, in December was advised that there was a mistake in the booking and they were going to put it up, advised was going complain to NZ consumer affairs, they then changed rate back. Upon picking up vehicle was given a old VW polo, far cry from the A3 requested. Car was underpowered and useless and unsafe in my opinion. Beware when booking. They advertise cars on their website that they dont have.

We had goos service. They picked us up from the airport in our car and drove us to their office just around the road. On our hire we had an issue with a tyre - we got a punchure. They were really good to deal with and were dealt with the garage - even though it was our fault they willingly assisted us to get us away again. When we came back the woman mentioned it straight away and put us at ease. Really good service and friendly. The car was very late model and was nice to drive. Very happy with EuroCar Rental and will be back.

Excellent 4WD selection and good, friendly service at Eurocar NZ. Very pleased indeed.

Just want to say thank you for all the staff at Euro Car Rental for their excellent service. They have a good range of very late model cars at quite acceptable prices.
