Worst Place Ever
Rang booking line -4 night break + pet + early checkin + linen. On arrival at 15:15 expected early checkin (from 2pm)- break booked but nothing else. Told would have to pay extra £15 and cleaners "would go and clean caravan" I said I would wait for normal checkin at 16:00! 1st caravan disgusting - wallpaper hanging off in lounge, skirtings and worktop trim missing and trim round sink hanging off. Complained and moved. Booked 2 days half board. As a chef the 1st night meal was quite clearly a supermarket frozen ready meal of spaghetti bolognaise. 2nd night was frozen omelette (supermaket 2 pack). Paid £15 per day for food but if you order from menu the spag bol would have cost £8.50!! Go yourself to a supermarket, spend £1.50 - £2 and cook yourself so much cheaper. Its appalling kitchen staff cant cook an omelette (£6.50 on menu). Breakfast came out cold,, others complained as well. Staff quite abrupt especially bar "manager" who was very rude when I spoke to him about breakfast and resulting in me deciding to leave. Park is stuck in 1970s, if you are looking for lovely holiday dont go here as there are many friendlier and nicer parks in Essex. NEVER AGAIN - SHAME ON YOU PARK HOLIDAYS.
Never Again
We arrived at steeple bay holiday park on day 1 of a 5 night stay ,drove through the statics looking for reception first impressions were positive.found reception checked in and was told that they don't allocate pitches ,we were to find one ourselves, asked where they was and was told we would now have to turn around as we had passed them ,not an easy thing to do when cars are parked everywhere.managed to turn around and found that there were 2 pitches left ,2 of the worst pitches I have ever seen, mine was on a concrete block on the fork of a road but my car Parking space next to it was in a quite steep dip so even if I had an awning no way that you could put it up.there was not a decent pitch on there.so we set up and went to look round ,that's when we found the toilet block ,we were disgusted it was filthy and not fit for purpose there was 2 showers that was supposed to cater for every tourer on site plus campers it is not good enough we are not heathens. Having looked round I asked where the Elsan point was and was absolutely mortified to find that it was a hole in ground outside the washing up area completely open, once again this is completely unacceptable,if this park treats it's tourers with such a lack of respect why does it have them.we roughed it for another day but by day 3 we was on our way home and like I said never again.

Disgraceful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i can't begin to tell you the disappointment we have had with this holiday park.
This was to be a special trip for three mothers and three son's who have just left school at the age of 16.
We researched your parks and this looked one of the best on the net but how wrong was that !!!
Firstly the caravan we had which i admit was a bronze was positioned between 2 owners and opposite the refuge bins !!lovely
i called reception as soon as we arrived to ask to be moved but i was informed that there were no other caravans available which was surprising as the site was near empty except for the owner family's around us which i have to say made us feel very uncomfortable. The grass was not cut outside our van and no seats or tables outside which meant in sweltering heat we were all sat in the caravan. The facilities were a complete let down the pool had no seating around it which looked a little different from the brochure !!! The boys had nothing to do all day there were no boats available to hire for the lake show in the brochure but the worst thing at all was that when we opened up the sofa bed as our daughters were visiting for a night the matress was covered in excrement and soiled sheets had been left on the sofa bed for i don't know how long we called and the mattress was disposed of but how awful for us. The club house was very small with one pool table and the boys got ready every evening but it closed early. The pool also shut for lunch everyday and considering it was the only thing they had this was not good also it closed at 6pm every evening which when the sun was shining this was very disappointing. Another hasle we had was the entry to the park there was a barrier that we had to press a call bell every time we went out which on one occasion took them over 20 mins to answer surly a fob system would work better. i have to say i was so so disappointed but i would relish some feedback from the company and would also like some compensation in some way.

Place Awful
We arrived at the park on Monday 7th July intending to stay 7 nights. Sole purpose to trace my Mothers footsteps where she was born and brought up. We are both pensioners so it was on our 'bucket' list. We booked dogs allowed vans, we where situated by the camping and touring place. the bedding we ordered was clean, that is the only plus. The van stunk of cigarette smoke, the lounge carpet and seating area smelled of dog, and was covered in white hairs. As the office was closed on arrival, I asked next morning to be moved. No other dog friendly vans available, a cleaner was sent to hoover, that's all they did they never cleaned the windows, they hadn't been cleaned from day one, full of marks from dogs. Outside was untidy, no where to sit, the site was unkempt and grubby. Carpets badly stained in bedroom, windows didn't close properly. Obviously not only holiday makers on site, contractors next door!!!! The approach road is daunting, on Wednesday 9th we where coming back to the van, and pulled over for a Mercedes Van... Black, a car also stopped further behind us, the driver of the van around 30 years of age, approached us very fast and hit our wing mirror, he didnt stop till he got to the car behind, my husband opened our door, and said 'you've hit our mirror' he replied 'could have been worse could have hit you, in an aggressive manner. We visited relatives Thursday, left the nightmare place on Friday morning 3 days early!!!! took us seven hours to get home with traffic, we would not have normally travelled on that day.Relatives who live in the area said 'all sorts going on, on that site, worse one we could have chosen. NEVER AGAIN

Lovely Break
Just returned home from a long weekend break at steeple bay and can not wait to book our return visit. I went with my partner and my friend and we had a lovely time. The caravan was nice, it was clean and had everything we needed including clean linen waiting for us when we arrived. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We didn't have kids with us but the park was busy with children who all looked like they were having a fab time with plenty to keep them busy including a heated outdoor pool. The park is very out the way so if you don't have a car you can't really get out much but we took an hour drive into Southend. The estuary is very pretty but was disappointed I didn't get to see the seals but was told it's mating season so that was why. Overall we had a lovely relaxing weekend break and I would recommend to everyone. I actually want to save to buy a caravan now! Lol

Only Good Thing About Steeple Bay Was Leaving
This site is a disgrace and should be closed down. It should not be allowed to rent out caravans to the public and not to people with kids.
The caravan we rented was dangerous. The light fell on my son, you could get your fingers behind the light switch where a hole had been punched in the wall. The electricity tripped and you had to have a mud bath before entering the caravan.
I feel sorry for the owners of the caravans that have no choice but to stay there.
Good thing was at least they kept the kids entertained on the evening.
Buyer Beware
We bought a static caravan at Steeple Bay, big mistake!, There were fights in the clubhouse, drug dealers, police raids on site and caravans set on fire. We chose to ignore these problems as we had bought the van and tried to make the most of it as we would lose a lot of money . Unfortunately however after two years, my wife became very ill and we were unable to use it, so we decided to sell the van. This is when you realise what sharks these people are, they make used car dealers seem nice! You can't advertise the sale of the van on site, they also want 15 percent of the sale price, however I did manage to find a buyer but then had to send them to the office so they could take their details. The staff in the office then tried to sell them one of their own vans from the site! Fortunately, these people could see what they where trying do and came back to to me, stating that they still wanted to buy my van but they would have to pay an extra 500 pounds a year additional ground rent. I was left with no choice but to lower my sale price by half, almost giving it away. So as I say, buyers be very careful, when you are looking to purchase, nothing is too much trouble, however when you want to sell it's an entirely different story.
With hind site, if I wanted a holiday in a caravan I would rent one.
