Nighmare Holiday Lou Cavel

We stayed at Lou Cavel, in Southwest France. Honestly, this was the worst holiday we have ever experienced. We were expected to clear bat droppings from the game rooms daily and when we complained to Vintage holidays, was sold it's a rural life location. The area was full of wasps and hornets, and we could not use the pool with our children. Planned to stay 1 week and went home after 3 days as we could not use any of the villa's facilities.

We have been going France since I was a child and seen this amount of wasps! If this was due to cutting the fields then our week is a date that you should not be selling!

The Villa was very unclean, with spiders and other bugs everywhere, I felt like I was camping!

The sheets on the beds and all towels were all very old! My daughter sheets were well over 15 years old as they would have belonged to the owners son being a lion king theme and our sheets were a different colour inside when I tock them off when we left for home,

I’m sorry but a luxury villa should be updating bedding regularly in my view!

In the photos the villa looks stunning but a very different story when you get there!

This villa needs some work to get to a standard that would be classed as luxury! Vintage Holiday refused to compensate us and I would never use them again.

Burgled

Having to leave review here as Vintage Travel only permit positive reviews on their site - misleading. Stayed at a villa in Italy September 2019. Unfortunately villa was burgled. No one physically harmed but extremely frightening experience which ruined our holiday and caused financial loss. Resulted in cutting short our stay at villa as it felt unsafe to stay. Vintage Travel did not want to know about recompense. Worse Vintage Travel did not accept security review of villa was needed irrespective of ease which property was broken into, no burglar alarm, no safe, no gates electronic or manual, poor outside security lighting, no cctv etc. Got me thinking. People work hard to pay thousands to stay in villa yet their security is substandard to staying in hotel or an Italian campsite. Even locals described villa as ‘sitting duck’. Worse case scenario. We could have been physically injured or worse. Vintage Travel- your disregard for customers safety means next time our hard earned cash will go to accommodation that gives us peace of mind.

Poor Customer Service

My extended family and I have just returned from a villa holiday with Vintage Travel to Villa Periquita in the Algarve. The villa itself was beautiful with stunning views. However, we had several issues whilst we were there i.e. algae in swimming pool for 2 days, cleaner bringing a child with her, no secured parasols. The service we got from the local rep was very poor i.e. we told him on the sunday about the parasols but this problem wasn't resolved until the Thursday. He ran in the day after we arrived for 5mins, never introduced himself spoke to one person in our group left and was not seen again.

On our return we wrote to Vintage and listed the problems we had. The first letter in response was very poor, we were told that we could have mistaken the pattern of the pool floor for algae which insulted our intelligence. They also chose to ignore some of the points made but offered us (party of 6 adults) £100 of our next holiday with them! We wrote again complaining that they had no answered specific points and recieved another letter that again missed points made, whilst the agreed there was some fault on their side it appeared that they took the word of their local agents over their paying customers.

We sent a further letter to the managing director to ask if he reviewed all complaints as we were very unhappy with their after service. He sent a short sharp reply saying he had nothing further to add!

The way our complaint has been handled has ensured that we would not travel with Vintage again and we certainly would not recommend them to anyone considering a villa holiday as there are plenty of other good companies out there.

Our advice to Vintage would be invest in some good customer care training because feeble excuses and weak apologies do not bring back precious lost holiday time. If the final balance was paid after the holiday we are sure the customer service would be so much better.
