User Reviews
Good Rates. Responds To Booking Query
I am writing this review because I see some poor reviews around, but my experience is positive. I booked through this agency's Sumo Travel website after I see it has the best fare by far in Skyscanner. On the next working day, I got a final confirmation of the flight. In the meantime I asked several questions using the web form, and they were answered in a few hours. Overall a positive experience.
Worst Customer Services Ever Experienced
Do not book with this company to save a few pounds you will regret it. Every customer services agent I have spoken to is rude and not interested in helping I have been lied to about speaking to a manager as other staff tell me he's not the manager and they don't have one when I asked who do I complain to the answer was we don't get complaints I am trying to report them to trading standards and ofcom I am furious with there service and this has put a downer on my holiday straight away.
Cancellation Of Flights
Booked two flights to Phillippines for myself and friend - total cost £435 each. Due to personal circumstances (and advice from FO) not now able to travel. Flights booked via Lee's Travel with Oman Air. Oman Air happy to make refund but has to be via agent who booked flight. Lees Travel will not answer queries on phone because they were internet bookings but despite numerous emails, to date, only one reply. This was very ambiguous and stated that they had looked at the ticket and would give me a refund for costs in excess of £300. Despite further emails I cannot get them to advise me the basis of the calculation of this refund ie whether its costs in excess of £300 per ticket or the sum in excess of £300 for the total booking (ie £835 - £300) I wish I had taken the time to read the reviews before booking
My concern is that they will delay responding to me until such time that it is too late to obtain any sort of refund.
Do Not Use
DO NOT USE. Flight booked in May for October flight, 2 e-mails from May to October from Lee's travel. Called in September to confirm flight details. Discovered on day of return departure at airport that the flight had not been in operation since August! Lee's travel did not inform us and when we called claimed it was our responsibility to know that despite having spoke to them in September. They claimed to have no record of the call and again said it was our responsibility to have known the name of the agent we spoke to so they could investigate. Did not care at all that we could not get home.
Do Not Use Online, Not An Instant Booking Agency
website took took the money for 2 return flights London Heathrow to Phuket (approx £2000), but they did not make the booking.
email confirmation states:
"Your reservation is being processed, but is not yet confirmed."
by the time they were open at 9:30am the next day to speak on the phone, the flights I had asked for were fully booked up and I now do not have the flights they promised me.
I now have to negotiate getting my money back, because I am not interested in flying with a different airline, on a different day... and I am very angry because I could have booked direct with the airline and I would have my flights!
Beware, if an agent like Lees Travel is advertising flights cheaper than the airline website - they are not keeping their prices and availability up to date, and you will get stung, like I have been.
Avoid! Wrong Names On Booking, Had To Pay For New Flight!
Made a booking online for myself and a friend and submitted our API information. On printing out the e tickets 2 days before travelling, realised that my friend had been listed under the same surname as myself which was incorrect. The API information was also listed incorrectly for my friends surname. We were both present when booking and she typed in her own details so no mistakes could be made. However somewhere in the ether, Lee's Travel managed to put us both under the same surname. Lee's travel were unwilling/unable to change the booking or refund the flight (other than taxes)so I have just had to pay out an another £725 for a new flight (goes without saying that I didn't book the new flight through Lee's)! This is totally unacceptable when all of the information we provided was correct. Lee's Travel assured me they rarely make errors with names but it is interesting to see that another reviewer had the same experience!
Actual Prices Are 5% Higher Than Advertised For Same Flight
When you book and pay online - BE WARNED - the bookings are not instantaneous. They will issue you with an email to say you've paid, but the seats and the flights are NOT confirmed and NOT booked.
They issued my itinerary 12 hours after I booked it online and chased them up 3 times - on the third time when I said I would cancel because it was taking so long and competitors were far cheaper, they finally advised me it was "locked in" (ie. too late).
Be warned - their website will advertise one price, but when you click on to book it, the pricing will miraculously increase by 5%. FALSE ADVERTISING
Avoid, Try Other Travel Agency
I booked a flight from UK- Peanang-KL-UK. This cannot be booked online & I had to go through the agency which I was told would cost slightly more. When MAS offered a full refund due to recent incidents, I took advantage of this and contacted Lees Agency who stated that the funds will take a few weeks. Later I received an email stating the refund will be minus a £25.00 admin fee. I would have accepted paying for the admin fee for cancelling my flight under normal circumstances but do not expect to be charged when MAS offered a full refund. In effect I was charged initially for not booking online and then charged again when I accepted MAS offer of a full refund. Moreover I paid in May when I am due to travel at the end of September.Lees Agency had my money for about 5 months now.
I re-booked my flight through Flight Centre who offered me the website price even though an agent sorted out my flight by phone.
So AVOID this agency. I am not impressed by their lack of understanding that the cancellation was due to unusual circumstances.
Avoid At All Cost
Travel documents had wrong names on for the passengers when we booked them at their office even though we had our passports with us and the staff was copying the names from them.
Also when the documents were sent to us, the price have increased alot from what that agreed, for one ticked this has almost doubled.
The seats that were agreed on was not the one that were on tickets and we later found out that to book seats in advnace should not have cost more, so were charged extra to help book the seats along with the ticket.
Have phoned and written a letter of complaint but the person who you need to speak to for this is never around and it has been several months now with no reply to our letter.
When we were at their office to speak to them, the staff were half asleep, they kept yawning and were uninterested. And now what they're saying is different to what we have been told previously.
Would never recommend them to anyone, would instead tell people to avoid altogether.
Communication Problems
Ticket was booked and e-mail confirmation provided, everything was handled correctly but calling up to confirm the correct dates and flight times close to departure date seemed to have been a major chore for the staff to understand. Information was thrown out without being asked i.e. "There will be a charge to change dates", "It is too late to change", "I do not understand", "Your phone is muffled (on many occasions by this particular person as other members didn't have such a problem)", "Have you not received my e-mails (In an unnecessary defensive tone)". A straight forward question seemed to have ruffled a few feathers and I felt deeply frustrated trying to get a straight forward answer. Communication with customers should be greatly improved!!! I would think twice before booking with this agency as they seem to get annoyed with you asking vital questions.
