Scum Bags

It is hard to believe that there are people out there who take your money and run. My son was devastated to find that upon checking-in at Heathrow tonight his ticket has been cancelled. He is a youngster with no recourse to spare money for another ticket. How can they do this over Christmas time. PIGS!!!!

''what A Fraud''

we also booked 2 tickets to got o perth in jan 2012. Like a lot of people, we were let down. Obviously rex & co are frauds, possibly also the airlines singapore, emirates, cathay pacific etc. for taken their booking fee and not letting on. They've got the cash and have got no responsibility to their agents customers. Thank you airlines.

Economy Travels...... Bloody Con Artists!

I only found out today that I have no flight to Australia that was booked and paid in full.

I was actually in Australia with my partner when she made the booking on Monday 7 November.

Like most people conned by these animals, the prices they offered were fantastic.....why can't ATOL control their members!

God knows what I would do if I ever got hold of any of them! I am suffering from heart failure since my stroke in April....my blood boils!

I am now stuck in England since everything I owned was sold and I now only possess in two luggage bags awaiting a new start in Australia when I eventually get there someday!

They should be jailed whoever was involved in this scam! I would suggest something else but leave that to your imagination.

Awful

my husband and I booked a return flight from Heathrow to Perth..like everyone else we received a letter yesterday informing that the company has gone bust. It's disgusting,. They obviously knew and allowed us all to pay and be left without flights. I was praying that maybe our flights had already been booked but from reading everyone's reviews I doubt we would be so lucky.

It's so awful for everyone, I hope to get our money back but like everyone else, this takes weeks! Poor excuse for human beings allowing people to do this.

I hope everyone gets their money back.

Disgusting!

My friend booked two tickets for her and her son to Jamaica with this company (economy travel) to see her mother for christmas... only to get a letter from them yesterday saying that they are going into 'liquidation'. Although my friend was obviously upset about not being able to go, it was not until i came across this site that we now realise what has really been going on....i am horrified she is distraught. She has no money to book another ticket, we don't even know if she can get her money back as she paid on a debit card and the bank is now saying that it is a dispute even though the evidence suggests otherwise. British Airways has no recollection of the ref. number. And the phones for this company do not work.......we were going to go to the office but will not even waste our time after reading everybody else's' experience when they went there. Does anybody have any advice that they can give me.?? My friend saved for these tickets and this is just heartbreaking for her son and her family.

Shame

It's a shame that they are allowed to take money from us for tickets that do not exists!! I am claiming through ATOL which said up to 12 weeks to get the money back, which means that you have to buy a new ticket all over again. And tickets to Mauritius are expensive at this time of the year.

A Complete Fraud. They Will Just Take Your Money And Run

I recently purchased a flight through economy travels for nearly a thousand pounds . They sent me an itinerary but no electronic ticket. When i asked them why they just got abusive on the phone and hung up on me. Their phone number has now been inoperable for two weeks. I doubt i will see my money again but am seeking legal advice. AVOID THIS COMPANY AND ITS SISTER COMPANY 'RELIABLE HOLIDAYS' AT ALL COSTS.

Fraud Or Gone Bust??!!!

After I booked my 2 tickets via phone (to fly to Mauritius on 14th Dec) and was assured by a very aloof Rex of Economy Travels that I will not get e-tickets at this stage but that I will be issued these nearer the time of departure, alarm bells started ringing ... a little late by then as I had already referred my friend who also booked a ticket for the 3rd Dec and they had already taken the money from my account. My friend and I remained suspicious and we called Rex a week or so after the booking was made the the invoice and itinerary was sent to us to re-confirm that the tickets will indeed be sent to us... this time we were told that tickets will not be issued and we are to take the confirmation email with us to the airport for our tickets to be issued there.

Well, my friend whose flight was yesterday found out the harsh way that our bookings were either not made at all or made and then cancelled without our knowledge. She was told by airport officials who looked into the matter that Economy Travels closed on 5th November and that they had cancelled her ticket to Mauritius then. She had to buy a new ticket (250 GBP more than she paid to Economy Travels) to be let on the flight.

My friend called me from the airport and I called the airline, Air Mauritius, straightaway, who, to my horror, did not recognise any of the references or booking numbers on my booking confirmation - my reservation number is as simplistic as REF1000 and low and behold, my friend's is REF1001... neither are valid nor recognised by the airline.

The airline's one-liner is that they have nothing to do with this and that we should contact ATOL.

I would be interested to hear what ATOL say. Please communicate your conversations to ATOL on this forum. My friend and I both booked with debit cards. I called my bank this morning and they confirmed that they will look into this with a view to compensating me for my loss soon... let's hope they do so as quite clearly this looks to me like it was more fraudulent than an innocent business going bust. In fact, I will go as far as saying that it would surprise me immensely if that Rex character had been honest at all at the time of booking - the fact that the reference numbers are unrecognisable by the airline further cements this belief.

Good luck to all of you who are trying to claim your lost cash through either your bank or through ATOL...I'll be on the tel to ATOL tomorrow and will post further if I have something useful to say.

I have now booked further tickets (with a credit card through lastminute.com... hopefully they won't go bust in the next week... fingers crossed!)

All the best and try and have a happy holiday season, abroad or here!

Hi Mate,

The same thing happenned to me. I would like to talk to you personally to let you know what happenned to me too and how you are proceeding to get the money back. I have booked my ticket to Mauritius for 30/12/11 and it is now that I have known that the ticket is fraudulent. I need to claim the money back and re book my ticket. It's a shame that people can do such a thing!!!

Robbing Gits

I have today taken my elderly uncle to Heathrow airport to fly to Manila, only to find out that his ticket has been canceled. Cathey Pacific were very good and we were able to buy a ticket to get him on the same flight. Of course the ticket was more expensive and he is away for 3 months now so will be a long time before he can get his Money back. We had used the same company to book our Chrismas visit to cebu, when I arrived home we checked with the airline and needless to say we found out that our so called tickets to not exist either. I can not believe that these people are stil at Liberty and still have the freedom to con more people out of there hard earned cash.

...another One Ripped Off

I agree with previous comment re: dino and rest of that dishonest crew, that they were fully aware that they were never going to honour the tickets. Actually , alarm bells were ringing right from the word go for me...i found dino's manner very off hand and pretty unhelpful. Anyway i must say how helpful ATOL have been - very patient with questions regarding how to go about claiming.....so sorry to those people who booked for christmas....jsut remember what goes around comes around , and those devious ********* will get their comeuppance

I booked a ticket to Cairns through a guy for my two sons and myself on 16February and I paid £600 with the balance due by 25June 2011. When I wanted to pay off the balance the balance, I was told that the tickets had gone up contrary to the booking agreement and I was told they could not sell the tickets to me unless I increased the money. I refused this new arrangement and requested that they could use the deposit for a booking for another flight the following year which a guy called DJ agreed to and promised that they would refund my £600 should I fail to go. He put all this in writing. In July, I rang intending to make a booking and the guy told me that he would not put the £600 as deposit for my next flight and he would not refund me. When I tried ringing again I could not go through. I wrote a letter as per advice from the consumer council but to no avail.
