“Flux n Flame is owned and run by Jessa and Al...”

Flux n Flame is owned and run by Jessa and Al Marshall. My fiancee and I went on a weekend course to make our wedding rings and had just the best weekend. My partner has been on several jewellery making course with F'n'F before and always come back singing their praises. I however had never done anything like this before and so was a little concerned about how I was going to get on. Both Al and Jessa (who are about the nicest people you would ever want to meet) were always on hand to give advise, demonstrate technique and fix any problem if you have really ballsed up. After a brief intro to the different tools in the workshop we were let loose to do our thing. There was a full house of 'students' on this particular course which is 8 people. There was the odd time when you had to wait for a little while for the tools but in general, things flowed really smoothly. What I really liked was that they seemed to be able to gauge the level of help needed and were not too stand offish, or too overbearing. More often than not you could ask a question, they would give you a brief demo and then leave you to it. As my girlfriend was doing something a bit more complicated Jessa spent quite a lot of the second day helping her. My ring was just a simple band so by mid morning of the second day I was finished and decided I would try to make some cufflinks. When I told them that I was going to do this, I felt that deep down they knew that it was going to be difficult for me to finish off before 5 that afternoon, but the didn't say anything and let me carry on. Sure enough we were still there till about 7 on the Sunday finishing off both our pieces but they genuinely did not seem to mind at all (or they are great actors). Right to the last they were helping us to make our items perfect rather than trying to move out the door. I bought the vouchers for the weekend course a while ago and I believe they were £230 each. Added to that you have to include materials. The cost of the gold for my band was a little under £200 so just over £400 in total. We had been looking around in jewellery shops prior to going on the course for inspiration and I think that what we ended up with was a bit of a bargain really. In a shop you might end up paying £500 or more for a band. Our were less and made to a really good standard (with Al and Jessa's help) plus we have the experience of a great weekend, and the knowledge that we have made the rings that we are going to where for the rest of our lives, which for us is priceless. I cannot recommend enough going on the courses with F'n'F. It was a great weekend, I learned some new skills, I met some lovely people and I came away with a awesome end result! Big love to Jessa and AL!
