Trades people beware. When signing up for Checkatrade pay close attention to their dubious auto-renewal contract. While regulations exist that protect consumers from this type of contract, businesses appear to be fair game. I realised I had missed the Checkatrade renewal deadline by 9-days. I was shocked to find myself tied in for 12-months. There is no cooling off period, no option to cancel, no option to switch off auto renewal. Checkatrade will not even accept 11 months notice to cancel at the end of the current term. Exactly the sort of shady practices consumers use vetting sites to avoid.
