We set off with the guy I dealt with in his Landrover Defender on a damp October morning for a half day tour of the archaeological sites of the north end of the Isle of Lewis. We have both been to the island on several occasions and thought we knew a bit about its rich archaeological heritage, but we were wrong! He has an encyclopaedic knowledge and took us to places that we had never known about and had so much explained to us that our heads were buzzing. His passion and enthusiasm for his subject was infectious and never have four hours passed so fast. We arrived back to our hotel, damp but totally enthralled by our experience.

For anyone visiting these islands, especially if interested in heritage, this trip or even the full day version, is a must and good value for money - we would thoroughly recommend it.
