“not worth the money!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 30/06/2016

Bought for £99 and used about once a week. Stopped steaming and advised to run a vinegar solution which I did with little effect. Took it to a repair shop who said I needed a new pump. Have to order parts from Thane but will not bother and destined for the bin! Liked the idea but not worth the money, also not very stable on standing.

“Helpful customer service”

★★☆☆☆

written by 222Lindsey on 27/05/2016

Handle broke off my X5 mop after minimal use.. Called customer service (even thought out of warranty) I spoke to a very helpful lady who spoke with her supervisor and arranged for a replacement handle,to be delivered free of charge. I would not buy thismitem again as reading the other re owes some people have also had the handle break and problems with the steam pipe (mine also).. Best Buy a steamer from recognised company...

“X5 Steam mop”

★★☆☆☆

written by MarquisGillespie on 08/02/2016

X5 worked well at first, then intermittently, checked on-line and decided to have a look inside. Mine unlike the YouTube video model didn't have Spring clips securing the steam line internally. This results in the steam escaping internally directly onto the printed circuit board and it cutting out and damaging the board

“H2o mop handle sheared off”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 07/10/2015

My 18 month old H20 mop handle just sheared right off when I was cleaning my kitchen floor. Part of the handle was lodged in the lower part of the mop, it is still stuck there and is impossible to remove. Thane told me I could send it for repair at a cost of £35 plus £9.99 for a new handle. Cheaper to buy a new one for £49 at the local hardware store, I said there is an obvious design fault but they put the blame on me! I am disgusted at their lack of interest in this problem. Surely I am not the first person to have this happen to. I had already recommended this to 3 friends. I feel they should have offered to repair this for free as it is useless as a floor mop and I had bought if for full price plus lots of extras, a waste of money.

“Does not clean very well and not robust”

★★☆☆☆

written by Kameron471 on 17/05/2015

You would be far better with a mop and hot water. It only lasted 14 months used about 20 times. Does not get anything clean. It is like a little toy and made to look very pretty it simply does not cut the mustard. The floor is barely any cleaner after you have gone over it dozens of times wipe it with a floor wipe and it comes off black so its not removing hardly any of the dirt. It is light to use and starts steaming quite quickly but its not man enough to do a good job

“Don't fall for the slick marketing!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Sheridan203 on 10/05/2015

It's easy to put together, comes with various attachments (or at least it does once they've sent the missing bits) and for gadget-heads like me the X5 should tick plenty of boxes. Downside however is that this product just doesn't do what they claim it will. Living in a hard water area I wanted it for limescale cleaning. Despite the ads demonstration of it being used on shower doors, tiles and grout it has no effect whatsoever on limescale. I've since bought some cheap scouring sponges and a bottle of vinegar for under £2 and the job was done in minutes. When advertising is as slick as theirs it got to be too good to be true!

“water pouring out”

★★☆☆☆

written by karen0264 on 16/02/2015

Tried the vinegar to descale, used half a bottle water still pouring out. It should advise you to use special water as the limescale stops it from working. There are videos on you tube showing you how to open it up and scrape it away but there are two screws you need a special screwdriver for. Waste of money.Do not buy!!!

“Disappointed int this product”

★★☆☆☆

written by Russellandjulieclark on 30/11/2014

I was very pleased with this cleaner at first using mainly in the bathroom The shower/window attachment did not fit properly and kept falling off when using It was a bit awkward using in the showing due to the size of it After using the steamer about five times the steam has gone so unable to use it A waste of £99 If it still worked I would be happy but feel reluctant.to go and buy another steamer

“Non steaming steamer”

★★☆☆☆

written by AimeeMcCracken on 08/05/2014

I love a clean house and do enjoy a good gadget. I have had this machine for 13 months although I've only used it half a dozen times as its fiddly to get out and prepare to use. I was reasonably happy with the results though, but now it has just stopped steaming. Like others I have cleaned it and gone through the processes recommended. I won't bother contacting them as its out of warranty and I imagine they will do little. DO NOT BUY THIS is my advice, and think twice before relying on 'Which' to point you in the right direction of good purchases!

“review”

★★☆☆☆

written by fishingtrip on 06/04/2014

not that keen on it used a few times not as good as they say. just as easy to clean it from scratch as you still have to clean the floor after you have used it. generates a lot of steam so requires wiping down as you use and not as light as they say it is. cant see many good points to it so be carefull when thinking of buying one. get better results doing the old fashion way buy hand and better results.

Did you follow the procedure for storage after you used the mop... it tells you how in the instructions. I've had mine over 12 months and it works perfectly fine so long as you drain it well and store correctly.

“Bought this mop used it for a year and it stopped...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 16/01/2014

Bought this mop used it for a year and it stopped producing steam. I called and they sent a replacement. Now a year later again it has stopped working. I loved this mop when it worked but I will not by a third and would not recommend to anyone. Waste of money to only work for a year :(

“Not made for Longevity”

★★☆☆☆

written by mat1164 on 16/12/2013

Had mine three months started playing up within two months. Fantastic bit of kit initially but the on / off switch works when it feels like it. Replaced by the vendor and now the same problem. My neighbour has one and surprise surprise hers lasted a week longer. Don't bother to be honest, cheap nasty over hyped tat.

“will not clean the black out of the grouting out of tiles”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 15/12/2013

I found it to make plenty of steam and the brush that is supplied with the cleaner when used with the jet nozzle has no guts to when you try to clean the grouting; just using the jet nozzle on the grout will not remove the grime ether the steamer dose not seem powerful enough. As far as the floors go I do not know clean they are; the floor pad is fairly dirty and when i go over it again with a clean pad that is dirty as well.

“Poor poor quality ”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 30/10/2013

I am now on my third mop all just stop working or on off switch does not work properly. My last one completely over heated and melted. I think these mops are dangerous, maybe it will take someone getting hurt before company addresses problems with them. I will not have another, a lot of money to throw away on poor quality product.

“Pump failure”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 13/07/2013

I was very happy with my purchase until less than a month after the years guarantee finished the mop stopped working down to the pump failing. This I feel is alot of expense for an electrical item that doesn't live up to its expectations.

“broke the head on x5 ”

like many of other viewers cannot get spare anywhere. Seems like they are only interested in after sales apart from main parts. Very flimsy so they know they will be easily damaged.

The plastic hose that is located in the tank split where it attaches to the water tank connection so it no longer picks up water. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, can you advise as to how to fix it? The tank appears to be a sealed unit and the filler hole is not large enough to be able to access the connection point to reattach.

H20 Elite X5 is not heating water anymore, it just puddles all the time, any ideas why? I filled the tank, plugged in the power cord, the red light turns to green; when put to on position it does make the pumping sound and water is pushed out, but it is cold water only! I turned to off position, still green light, emptied the tank, then unplugged from the wall the electrical cord. I repeated several times now, the unit just does not seem to heat water to make any steam, what am I do wrong?

Forgive my ignorance, what is a ticked floor? Googled this and nothing shows? Your floor should not be 'soaked'? The problem may be that you have the steam setting too high? Try setting one to start, and increase until you find the best one, all floors are different and require low or high settings... but a soaked floor means you have the setting possibly too high. I hope this helps.
