“Plastic tank not fit for pupose ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 16/11/2023

On my third tank. Any little knock to the appliance and it cracks. The pressure drops and water dribbles all over. Please modify for a more durable appliance as I use these mops everyday Always happens when I'm just out of guarantee. Extra cover costs me the same as the tank replacement. I might try another brand this time around.

“Ruined my wood floors”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Connor6 on 10/09/2023

Installed new hardwood and laminate floors.Soon after purchased the H20 steam cleaner. Within a few months noticed the flooring was starting to curl up in places along the seams. Fortunately I decided to stop using the H20 and it didn't continue so it was clear that the steam was the cause. I contacted the company but they would not admit that it could cause the damage and would not even refund me for the machine if I returned it.

I have white tiles and white grouting...I thought regular steaming will keep it clean. WRONG! This piece of junk doesn't do the job and now causes my circuit to trip. Back on the market for another product.

“Utter rubbish - don't watse your money!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 14/08/2018

No cleaning ability what-so-ever. Avoid where possible. Utter junk. Bought one of these three months ago and used it to clean just the laminate floor once or twice. Wanted to deep clean the bathroom having last used the cleaner last month. It wouldn't steam and then when I refilled it, laid it flat it jetted hot steam from a blow whole before the nozzle almost scalding me.

Funny, the guy on the video I just watched tested all 5 components and sent samples of before and after to a lab and it showed the product to be more than 99% effective. You must be using it wrong.

written by Moss41 on 28/01/2018

This was sold to my 90 year old father over the phone. Took a year beforeI got around to try it out for him. It is a useless piece of inpractical garbage. Intermittant steam, just growling. I have used steam cleaners in my line of work as mechanic. Please do not insult our inteligence with this piece of garbage. And how dare you sell this item to a 90 year old gent who can hardly speak english. The TV Ads are misleading.

“waste of money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by youngzola on 30/08/2017

cleaned h2o x5 after every use and it slowly got less and less pressure "pump failing" then failed, puffed the odd bit of steam , Thane do not make this steamer and are hiding behind this fact. have being offered a new pump body but I have to pay. this company should be avoided they don't care once they have sold you steamer, the steamer is unreliable and its common for pump to fail, its only begin used 150 times in 16 months I expect these to last over 5 years. wish I had read reviews instead of watching the TV add.

“Had two in 12 months- 6 months appears to be limit!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by CarleyRodriguez on 31/08/2016

Bought my 1st one about 18 months ago, very pleased with how it worked. After 6 months it blocked up wouldn't produce any steam (well maybe a quick puff every 30 secs or so. Took it back to Argos and they exchanged it for another (not a new one). Six months on and it has blocked again, in just the same, and tried several descalers with no joy. Perhaps it would of been better if I kept using it on a regular basis.

“Feeder pipe broken off in tank”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ice Pick on 24/02/2016

Bought this a year or so ago and only used it half a dozen times to find this morning when I came to use it for the kitchen floor that the clear rubber pipe in the water tank has snapped off meaning no water was reaching the steam generator elements. As been mentioned many times in these reviews the handle is flimsy which creeks while in use and in many cases as broken.

“Avoid this steamer. Product poor quality and shocking...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kmc246 on 09/11/2015

Started squirting boiling water from connection points after a few uses. Asked to return and they arranged a courier to collect but could only give 9 to 5pm slot so had to book a days holiday. The courier didn't show up and when I called thane direct they tried to say the courier had tried but no one at home, which was not true. Also said they!d tried to call on my mobile but no missed calls. I now have to struggle to postoffice with the very heavy box and they will only reimburse £ 12 postage which won't cover the cost. Shocking customer service, avoid at all costs!

“Poor performance and lifespan”

★☆☆☆☆

written by nuHowell377 on 31/10/2015

The pressure of the steam from this mop is pretty ineffective and after very little use the water started to drip from the connecting points reducing the pressure to 0. The idea is good but the quality is poor. The handle is very flimsy and the whole thing just feels cheap. Don't bother.

“These Steam Mops are rubbish Steam stoped working ”

written by Roscol on 15/10/2015

The H2o X5 mop are very poor value for the money paid to thane after very little use the steam system has packed up. When it was working it was not too bad but not a good purchase the Thane video said it was great but it was a waste of our money

“Trash, would make a skip look untidy”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Ortiz313 on 06/10/2015

This is rubbish, I used the mop 5 times (perhaps that's why it's called the X5). The last time I used it it blew the electrics so I changed the fuse and still shorted out so I assumed the problem lay inside. Now I'm a curious person when it comes to taking things apart and curiosity got the best of me and within minutes I had located the source of the problem, one of the pipes that lead from the steam generator had split causing water vapour to cover the electrics in corrosion and dried up crystalline residue from Thanes recommend scent additive. I contacted Thane via email stating what I had discovered, they duly contacted me on my mobile but not to offer an explanation and a replacement but instead laid the blame squarely at my feet, yes I was wrong to take the damned thing apart (this voids the already out of date warranty that apparently ran out yesterday, how ironic and convenient), but to get blamed for scaling it up with hard water (I live in Devon with the softest water anywhere) and since when has limescale been soft? I had emailed pictures to Thane showing the powdery crystals and rusted electrical connections but they still blamed me. They didn't bat an eyelid when I told them I would contact the newspapers and consumer ombudsman, Thane are simply not bothered and are willing to take your money to pay for top notch advertising so that you buy their shoody and to a point dangerous appliances, I dread to think what could have happened if I had continued to use the mop. Save you money, go to a proper shop buy a hand operated mop, some scented chemicals, some scrubbing things and a tub of elbow grease and do it the old fashioned way, cheaper and safer and a whole lot less time consuming. Buyer beware.

“Rubbish product”

★☆☆☆☆

written by pwBolton395 on 10/09/2015

I bought an H2O Mop X5 Steam Cleaner and after just 15 times of use it is no longer steaming. The heating element is no longer working - therefore no steam! Therefore it has cost me £5.30 per kitchen floor clean - hardly good value. This is a cheap, poorly made product and I certainly would not recommend anyone to buy it, unless they want to throw away £80.

“WASTE OF MONEY”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 08/09/2015

My husband saw this on an infomercial and bought it cause it is so small and easy to use and ALL THE TEAM IT SHOWED. I guess people love steam. He mopped our kitchen floor and living room carpet. I couldn't believe it could really clean without an ounce of cleaning solution, nothing. It had loads of steam. Nothing but steam but all it did was give us a wet carpet and wet floor, albiet clean since my husband went over the floor repeatedly until it was finally clean. I put my hand right on the floor as soon as he mopped (although he told me I'd burn my hand)and it was barely warm. How can something clean with no cleaning solution and water barely warm? Total waste of money.

“Very POOR non steam producing steamer”

★☆☆☆☆

written by DissatisfiedTWO on 06/08/2015

Having purchased H20 Mop X5 Cleaner My wife found from day one it to be nothing more than an expensive wet floor mop it fails to produce steam and purely dampens the cleaning pads with water so is of little use as a steam producing unit and of use for any purpose other than wet floor mopping which has been it sole use

The plastic hose that is located in the tank split where it attaches to the water tank connection so it no longer picks up water. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, can you advise as to how to fix it? The tank appears to be a sealed unit and the filler hole is not large enough to be able to access the connection point to reattach.

H20 Elite X5 is not heating water anymore, it just puddles all the time, any ideas why? I filled the tank, plugged in the power cord, the red light turns to green; when put to on position it does make the pumping sound and water is pushed out, but it is cold water only! I turned to off position, still green light, emptied the tank, then unplugged from the wall the electrical cord. I repeated several times now, the unit just does not seem to heat water to make any steam, what am I do wrong?

Forgive my ignorance, what is a ticked floor? Googled this and nothing shows? Your floor should not be 'soaked'? The problem may be that you have the steam setting too high? Try setting one to start, and increase until you find the best one, all floors are different and require low or high settings... but a soaked floor means you have the setting possibly too high. I hope this helps.
