I called Project Solar with the general idea that I wanted to install PV at my property. The salesman was excellent, not in to the hard sell but methodically went through the way the PV would work and the benefits it would provide. He was honest about the lack of feed in tariff but instead promotes the system with a battery as a way of being less reliant on the grid.
I went with this option and waited a couple of weeks for installation day. On the day i had a call from the engineers to explain they had to postpone until later that day which was fine. They finally arrived at 15:30 and worked through until 20:30. There were a couple of issues.
Firstly the roof space had been miscalculated so 3 panels had to go on the north facing roof. No scaffold had been put up on this side.
Secondly the battery was so heavy it was really difficult to get it in to the loft. The engineer came off the ladder with it at one point which could have been really serious. There needs to be a safe method devised by the company to do this.
Despite these few things, overall the project has been good and it is satisfying to be self sufficient with electricity, although criminal that the grid is taking the surplus for nothing in return!
