This Game Is A Mindless Shooter. Great When Your I
This game is a mindless shooter. Great when your in a bad mood, but not good for anything else. The game is insultingly easy to beat and the fact that you need to shoot the enemies 10 times in the chest with a high power assault rifle to kill them defeats the other realistic aspects of the game.
Look, I'm not a game snob, in fact I say if it's fun play it. I have. And unless you are going to rent this game, It's not worth the money.

I Heard Most Of The Bad Reviews About Black, But O
I heard most of the bad reviews about Black, but one thing I find hard to believe is that the mind-blowing graphics and those fantastic destructible environments don't more than make up for the repetition and a lack of a multiplayer option. I just can't stop being surprised by the effects and involving gameplay of this XBox game. I didn't even think a PS2 was capable of this level of realism.
I don't care what anyone says. I rank this game a solid 10/10.

I Was One Of The Many Gamers Looking Forward To Bl
I was one of the many gamers looking forward to Black for the Xbox. Everything in the level is destructible?? Cool! But that 's about all there is to Black. Well, I am getting a head of myself.
You are a member of the Black Ops, a very elite group of special operatives. You have somehow been captured and are being questioned to why you have been doing something wrong (the story isn't fully revealed until you play more, and I don't want to spoil it!). The whole game is you explaining to the interrogation officer why you have been doing these bad things. You explain in words what you did, and then have a flashback to the time it happened. And this is where the action takes place, you act out his memories, which is one of the cool things about the game.
The graphics on this game are very detailed. Also, almost everything is destructible: When a crate you are hiding behind gets shot on the right side, the right side of the crate blows off. If you want to shoot through a weak wall, you can, and only the parts you shoot will break apart. In this aspect, Black is very revolutionary. It has wonderful graphics and has the interactivity like no other console game.
After being awed by how much the game can handle in the first three levels with graphics and destructibility of the environment, you realize something: this game is very repetitive! You go into a flashback, and the point of the next level is to get to some point and take out (literally!) over one hundred enemies. Hide, Point, and shoot, hide, point, and shoot... that is what I felt myself doing over and over and over.
And to top it off, there is absolutely no multiplayer. So the replay value of this game is little to none. You go through nine long levels of repetitious and ridiculous hiding, pointing, and shooting and the game is over. You can play through again on a harder difficulty, but that is it.
Overall, I feel this game is a good rent, but not a buy. Play it at least once, because the game is somewhat revolutionary with all the destructible environments and numerous guns to choose from. I foresee a very nice sequel if EA can make the each level feel and play differently and add a multiplayer mode.
Nice review. In fact it was more than nice. I feel you covered all the aspects of this XBox game very well.
I agree with this review. I saw the TV advert and thought it looked amazing. I got to about level 6 and was really bored of the action, having to make myself press on from the save point. The only thing the review doesn't mention is the ridiculous number of enemies your pitted against. You are talking hundreds. I'm at the end of the game now and having entred a big square room mowed down about fifty guys then died and got sent back to the start...irritating.
Cheers...are the Xbox/gamecube arguments still raging?! lol. If you're interested in the Dreamcast though, have a look at my site http://the-dreamcast-junkyard.blogspot.com
yes and no. i didn't play much of red faction, but i know you could blow thru walls. in black, you can do the same thing, but most walls are too thick to blow thru. which can be good or bad...even a rocket launcher cannot penetrate those walls.
Good review...I was wondering what all the fuss was about this game - the destructable world sounds excellent. I remember Red Faction harping on about having a Geo-mod engine that let you blow holes in walls...is Black more destructable than that?
