I purchased Inside the Lions Den a long time ago and enjoyed reading every part of it. Richard Hanner has done a great job in putting across Kens way of thinking and the key points and turning points of his eventful life, although the detail comes when he starts fighting for money and then professionally in japan. The description of each fight are written mainly to report on Kens performance but his unbiased way of writting means he gives more than enough credit to each opponent that Ken has had.
The second section of Ken and Richards book is the part written my Shamrock himself. It details his training regime, his eating regime, stretches, exercises, form control, defensive and offensive moves, take downs, locks & bars. I've had hours of fun practising on my pals.. you gotta be careful though cos some moves can hurt a lot more than you think.
My maine Gripe with this book is that it was released too early. the book ends as ken leaves professional NHB fighting to join the WWF to provide money and security to his family... ie there is less risk of his life ending early. Although i dont want this to be a WWF annual or anything, i would like to have read about kens life during his time at the WWF (now WWE) and as some of you may know he has since then moved back to NHB fighting in japan and tried to make a big comeback into the UFC where he lost to Tito Ortiz. Since he left the UFC originally he as run many gyms and dojos where he trains a team of fighters who consistently do well in the UFC tournament....
In conclusion, im not the best at reviews but i enjoyed reading this book and still revert to the second section for some hints and tips. Buy it if you'er a fan of Ken or UFC or any NHB fighting form.
